He could upgrade to any sub box with that set up. Great job spending alot of money on the electrical first, most people don't have that restraint.
I did the electrical last and still need an alternator realistically but I 100% agree with do the electrical first. i wish I did when I started into this small audio hobby so lesson learned for next time
8” subs can be very effective. They are quick and in a well tuned box can hit low too. I built a slot port box for my buddy with a single 8” that hits hard enough to hear coming from a distance.
I run 4 8" under the rear seat in a GMC Sierra crew cab. 2.66 qube box ported tuned to 32hz. About 1,500 Rockford fosgate watts and Im very happy.
Hey hey hey, 👋 Soniclab so glad you posted this comment because I’ve been curious about “reproducing” the (what I THINK is a Slot Port) format. So, the JL Audio 13.5 w7 (no one has that kinda money) BUT it has that, again, what I think is a Slant Box-Style where the interior of the box is red carpet and the exterior of it is regular black carpet, im sure you’ve seen it. So, with the 10inch w7, THAT red inner and black outer (the whole thing is composed of the self contained porting system/mechanism) was the best quality sound OH and they’re all single cut out / single sub box for JL THE best sounding across the music genre board(rap, country, emo… ) and it was just a set up (800watt amp??) that left an impact on me, clearly lol, but my question is should I pursue having someone re-create that type of Slant Box porting that JL has/had for my single SKAR zvx 8-2 ohm (900rms) & Kicker CXA.800 amp? Or would the fact it’s an 8inch platform (instead of the 10, 12, 13.5 offered by JL ) make it “Not Be As Good”? Or should I find someone to recreate that? (I’m with an 8 single set up because my trunk space (2015 Subaru legacy) is often compromised by everyday cargo and I just thought having a
“mini-“ version of the JL box Slant Port would be cool! IF it will work as well. Sorry to lay a ton on you but you seem to have experience and idk I’ll shut up lol. What do you think?
JL WEDGE high output enclosure yeah it was called the Wedge I think. Would that be smart to pursue having someone make for me? For my 8
never thought i'd give 8's some props. His elec system can def handle bigger subs, you can see bad wrinkle in the x max on those eights. Major props though, this project seems like a venture of curiousity, a project i wouldn't be suprised to find myself dabbling into

I love my Skar EVL 8's in my Mini Cooper S. Got 2 Powered by a Skv21500.1D, 6.5" SPX + 4" TX speakers in the front and TX 6x9's in the rear. For stock electrical and a tiny system it pounds.

Making sawdust with those 8's, definitely needs to add some bracing to that box. Great start to an awesome system for sure. Can only get better from here :)

I have 4 8’s and 2 amps under the seat of my ridgeline, used every square inch I could, sounds good and makes the rear view mirror useless and I still have a truck that can seat 5.

I actually had the same idea for your midrange tweeter enclosure- removable and can be put into a newer ride when the existing car breaks down
My buddy had 3 8s in his expedition when I moved back from Florida in 09 and what he had slapped I can only imagine what they've become today

I tried, I hit a 145, not really impressive in my opinion. I wanted to know how much power I was giving them, and they didn’t even clamp me.
@@Memiselphi I have a Camry and got 15s in my trunk. Is ported or sealed better? I always thought sealed was the way to go when dealing with vehicles that had trunks and not open air space

Fire the port backwards instead of upfire. You will gain damn near 5 to 6 db plus it actually gets louder when you open windows. I promise you. Wife and were TX state champions back in the early 2000s. Stock 600 watt class 155.9 db on average with 2 18s. We hit 162.5 once.
It wouldn’t work with the way I had to rush putting the system in. I had to mount my amps on the box, mounted the 6x9 box on top of the sub box as well. The port would have been partially blocked by my Cmax. It was just a temporary setup in that truck for my anyway. But I appreciate the advice.

Those are highest of end 8’s, I would do 4 Skar EVL 8’s, it would be loud but not overbearing
@@crikmtb5338 honestly I wouldn’t even do that you can get 4 skar Ix-8 for 40 each and put them in a potted box tuned anywhere from 34-39hz it will sound and hit amazing got mine set up like under my back seats running bout a little over 1000 watt rms at 1 ohm to all subs

I ran 6 upgraded x8v3s on salt 8k with a 390 amp alt an 3 cyber 12ks in a 06 volvo s60 an they hit wayyyyy harder than that.

@MrNitrotheboss wasn't hating on the vehicle or amount of subs you have. I ended up shattering my windshield with mine was extremely impressed with how 6 X8s sound. An volvos are some of the best vehicles out there.
So hard to do though with it. Otherwise 2 15's will do the trick if you like to hear it outside too

Used to be 12s till I die guy. Runnin 2 SKAR EVL 10s on a RF Prime 750.1 tuned to 36hz w/ a precision port in a 4 Runner. Have they changed my mind!! They flex the windshield and doors better then 12s I've run. Props to #MoreSmallConeCrew

You can check out the hardest hitting (1) 18" Skar ZVX D1 you have ever heard in a 4 Door Nissan Titan being run by (2) RZR1-2500.1D amps (1) on each coil amps are only rated at 2 ohm but I have each one at 1 ohm and stock alt and just 1 big AGM Batt. I've been doing car audio for 25 yrs and never heard 1 sub do this! But soon I'm and another 18" and making a blow through cause I want my back seat back shit sucks without it my girl is always mad at me cause she has to ride in the bed of the truck now and it just looks wierd pulling up to a light and people looking at you sideways cause there's a girl in the bed of the truck I'm driving and my bluenose pit in the passenger seat! Can't figure out what that's all about! 🤣 HMU

But with the right EQ you will definitely get the best sound quality, a pioneer EQ is the best here in my country any car that has sound upgrade, they all have EQ's my ride too🤗

five 8" subs = ONE 18" (roughly)
If you heard anything in the video, it’s a temporary setup. Also, I don’t like to do the norm. I also refuse to use 18 inch woofers. Everyone I knows runs a pair of some sort of 18s and they are not my cup of tea. I do it for fun and being unique, not for numbers.

Yeah, the cone was shredded, the tinsel leads were gone, and it wasn’t hooked up at all. They are dual 2s, so original I was running all 6 of At .67 ohms, but with that one blown, I don’t know what ohm the amp was seeing at this point.

I never understood why people buy 8"s. Only for small spaces. He has plenty of room for 6 12"s. The same 12"s would blow those 8"s out of the water. The way I see it, 8"s are a complete waist of time unless you don't have the room to install anything bigger.
