Prayers for a full recovery, Mr. Sweet. My 15-year old just discovered your songs and it blew his mind when I immediately pulled out Girlfriend. I guess Mom isn't so bad after all!
Be honest....this wasn't a recommended RUclips viewing.....you remembered how awesomely pure and simple this song is and you searched for it....because you're a legend 💪🏽
Damn, that's sad. I can't say its super surprising though, he was looking really rough. Take care of your body guys. Sugar and super processed foods are demons.
Shoutout to Buichi Terasawa, the creator of Space Adventure COBRA, who passed away 3 weeks ago. Without him we wouldn’t have this awesome music video to begin with.
I remember thinking how great this song sounded when it came out. Now I realize that it would have sounded great 20 years earlier or 20 years later and beyond. Timeless rock.
Oddly enough I got reintroduced to this tune because it was used as bumper music on a local talk station.... took me DAYS to find it online. Saw him at a festival in Atlanta back in the day along with Soup Dragons, The Connels, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cramps, B52s, and a bunch of others.... I ended up in the first aid tent... remember kids, beware the brown acid.

Yup, first time I saw it was the night Boyz n the Hood came out. Stayed up to watch mtv that Saturday night and my world was forever changed as an 8 year old.

That crazy lick at 2:11 - 2:16 is Robert Quine showing you what only great guitarists do, play the soulful notes that make both the song and the solo bigger.
I remembered the tune of this song from 90s and spent years searching “somebody to love 90s song” and “need you back in my arms” etc and never could find it! I finally decided to hum it into the google app and with an 8% match I FINALLY FOUND THE SONG! I love this track brings back the 90s when i was growing up !!! Great times
Used to have a truck driving gig in southwestern Virginia overnight, near Blacksburg, the DJ must have loved this song. Heard it EVERY night for about 6 months back in the day. Still like this one.

Incredible guitar work by the late Robert Quine, who had the innate ability to lay down the pyrotechnics and push it to the absolute limits whilst (tastefully) staying within the confines of the Power Pop genre. In the hands of a lesser guitarist, this could have easily descended into mindless guitar wankery, but in Quine's hands it is absolutely sublime.
I remember browsing through Tower Records on Sunset and coming across this CD. The beautiful Tuesday Weld on the cover was what caught my eye but then I listened to a few tracks and purchased it immediately. I drove around LA all afternoon with this blasting. It was a perfect day then and this album is still one of my favorites.

He makes the song, basically. There's not much of a song outside that guitar. (No disrespect to Mathew Sweet, a fine songwriter who's written other great songs.) But Quine takes those bare bones and turns them into genius. Truly great work.

This jam is getting some views. Good stuff
Every now and then, a song is just perfect. If I had no Idea who it was, I would record it and keep close. Believe it or not, Eric Johnson said he wrote "most of" Cliffs of Dover in one try. If you love guitar you know, that is a perfect song. I wanted to smack him but, God bless him for being so amazing.
Played this album in my Kenwood pullout CD player a minimum of 2500 times. All the way through.
Just ridiculously amazing. Been on repeat for decades for this unabashed superfan!!! 😎😎😎
Great animation !!
Love the raw, garage bad sound. Great song!
