You're only supposed to press the button for the first part of the pour. It's the same as pulling the tap back in a pub. For the second part you just top it up without the surge which is the same as pushing the tap forward in a bar.
This is an extinction level pub killer here in London where you cannot get a decent pint and you pay £6-7 for the privilege. Happy to pay roughly £2 a can after the surger outlay. And yes. Do not hit the button again for the second pour. Meant to be off. Timed at 30 seconds.
Concur, most of the pints in London are a watery mess, ruins my pub experience with every pint being a shot in the dark. With the advent of the nitrosurge at least i can get a half decent pint consistently at home
Be interesting if you could make a video on how to get the best pint/taste from a nitrosurge can (pouring techniques, refrigerator temperature, glass temperature etc..) I often notice if I leave my can out the fridge from 30-40 minutes before pouring, the head will stay consistent to the end.. Also clean your glass or use a different glass after every pour otherwise it'll affect the taste.
Yes temperature is very important and also fresh glass with very little detergent used and must be washed from glass as it will spoil the head formation. The reason I know this is I was involved in the first release of Guiness on mixed gas.

I just got the device today and read instructions but they could be better. Also make sure your device is charged.
Right here's the score, the guinness device actually puts finely calibrated ultra sonic vibrations through the beer which activates the gases and forms consistent sized bubbles for the perfect head. So its nothing to do with the black part of the guinness at all, its all about balacing out the the head. This is the key and the diffrence from an exceptional guinness from an average one. Who knew? 😊
Is this the same as what I saw at the movie theatre last time I went to one in London and we were allowed to take a pint into the movie? (last Bond film)? Or is that the nitro system something or other (as it filled from the bottom up or that’s the way it looked) .. I’d never seen anything like it before and freaked out as I’m a tech guy so was curious how it worked? Was the perfect pour and instead of waiting 5 mins had my Guinness ready in 30 Seconds. Also what’s the tins that rattle? Is that just bog std Guinness? A USA can thing? Reason I ask is we’re making a full sized home bar mixer thingy (soz, can’t give the name as it took forever to find one with a WWW free and not already patented or trademarked). But am trying to figure out the best way to do this and am also trying to add the option for a “black and tan” (half n half) or whatever you wish to call it -as some ppl mix Fosters in. Others use domestic Lite beers. So for those that like to ruin a perfectly good pint of straight Guinness 😢Lemme know aye? Y’all; or the OP is saying this is ultrasound. How’s this different than nitro if I even have that right? Are there 2-3 ways to do this? (asking from the US side of the pond where Guinness is not as popular as in the U.K. and Ireland) Ta.
Guinness uses a nitrogen/CO2 blend of gas to push the beer through the lines rather than just CO2 like a traditional draft beer system. It's that mixed Nitrogen gas that gives Guinness its tell-tale creamy, tight head. This mixed gas blend comes in a Nitrogen gas tank that contains 75% nitrogen and 25% CO2. I think its well worth trying out a can or two of the widget cans with the nitrosurge device and see if its an even better home pint of Guinness.
I've done that myself fella. I get good results. Saying that, I use what's called the 'pin trick' (youtube it for a proper play-by-play) which involves piercing the top of the can first with a pin and slowly releasing the gas first, so the widget doesn't do it's thing. Then run it through the nitrosurge device. I preface all of this by saying that I am generally very inconsistent at pouring straight from a can, so it's entirely possible as well that if nothing else, the nitrosurge spout is at the very least ensuring that I am pouring it consistently and steadily every time.
Using both will give you an extremely thin head and watery pint. The only way to get around this is to use the pin prick to release most of the gas and then use the nitro surge. Still not as good as using the intended cans
Would like to see this comparison too. If a regular can is a 6, this nitrosurge a 7.5, does that mean a regular can with the pin prick would be a 6.8-7?
