I have been searching for this answer for a very very long time. Something being cretaed with the appearance of age is something I haven't considered. As always, you have brought an important message to me.

Best exposition of gap theory I've heard yet. For me, since God inhabits eternity, time is of no consequence to Him. Even so, He is very patient, and long suffering for the precious fruit of the Earth.

The bible says several times he stretched out the stars.
This book made me mad that creation science has misrepresented what Gap proponents believe; and has buried the fact that belief in the Gap is not new at all, but ancient.
Whether you believe in a Genesis gap or not, those two facts are irrefutable.

When I look at the stars through my telescope I see what looks like what science calls, sonoluminescence, light inside of water. I wonder sometimes if the singing and praise of the "sons of God" are causing the light I see from stars. Some such as the one we named Arcturus appear to have multiple lights rotating around that reminds me of how cherubim are described in the bible. In any case , they look nothing like the Christmas tree toppers that NASA shows me :)
God has surely made and created things of beauty for us to admire. No matter how old they are or are not :)
The fact that death came later, after the falling into sin, dosent seem to fit in with the gap theory, true?
The Gap theory has to do with the fall of Lucifer and the corruption he did to the earth. God destroyed the earth with water once before man existed.

All I know for sure, is that he created all things in 6 days (the things mentioned in those 6 days), and that evolution is false. And it's only been around 6000 years since adam and eve were created. Genesis does give us how long adam lived, as well as a continuous lineage to the flood, and after the flood, the lineage to Abraham, and onward to the birth of Christ. We know the rest, from there.

I want to bring some clarity on what The Speed of Light actually is:
This is not coming from me. Its a fact.
We have always been told that The Speed of Light is the speed of light & that's that.
Well its not just the speed that a photon travels.
Btw, a photon is "outside" of time in the sense that it's entire sustenance is not distinguished by past, present, & future.
So, essentially, a photon does not "experience" time.
The Speed of Light is also the speed of causality.
That is to say that cause & effect relationships cannot happen faster than The Speed of Light.
Whether it is a car pile up on the freeway; or a lightning bolt striking a tree; or someone calling you on your cell phone...Causality, itself is limited by The Speed of Light.
Gravity propagates at The Speed of Light (aka The Speed of Causality).
If The Sun were to be able to suddenly disappear, all the heavenly bodies orbiting The Sun would continue to orbit the now vanished Sun for a time.
How long?
Exactly as long as it would take for photons from The Sun to reach each heavenly body.
-Eventhough The Sun is no longer there.
So, it takes roughly 8 minutes for a photon to leave The Sun & reach Earth.
So if The Sun suddenly vanished, Earth would continue its orbit for about 8 minutes, before it started leaving The Solar System; even though The Sun had vanished 8 minutes prior!
So even causality concerning Gravity, is governed by The Speed of Light.
The Speed of Light is the measuring rod of this Visible & Physical Universe.

Amen. Actually there is scientific evidence that says the one way speed of light is different than the round trip. There are theories that the one way speed of light is actually instantaneous. But we have no ability to measure the one way speed of light, so we won't ever know. What I do know, is that God created the Heavens and Earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th. Amen.

I don't quite agree with Mr. Pearl. For one, who said Satan was singing when the foundation of the Earth was laid? Who says Satan couldn't of sinned right after man was created? Another thought, with no reference for time before creation, who can say how long the angels, Satan, or the other created beings existed before the Earth? Did planet Earth exist before day one? It seems to me the Bible supports that it did not because there is no reference for time before then. But I will have to look into this a little bit more.
God created the stars and placed them 100 million light years from earth. God placed every star in the universe. And he spoke their light into existence. He said let there be light and there was.
Couple things: first they admit the universe is expanding, and they know the expansion is faster than the speed of light! So we are looking at the back-end of a 6,000 year expansion. The question assumes the stars were always in the same place. Problem solved with the expansion.
The earth was borne again and Baptized and filled with life, just like Christians when they were in darkness and without life… dead in sin but redeemed and borne again, THATS our God and His pattern,I 100% agree with big brother Pearl!

Even Christ said in the beginning he made them man and woman. Not 1000000+ years then he made them. And God spoke that's was the beginning.
There is something in modern science, specifically geology that actually points to this. Science calls it the great unconformity. They say there is a gap in the geologic timeline of the earth that is seen worldwide, (you can go search this and see pictures of the rock layers from all over the planet), where the rock layers don't match, at all. Everywhere on earth once you get to a certain depth the rocks look as if they were completely moved or reworked or however you want to say it. This can easily be seen in the grand canyon. If anyone reads this then really go do a search on the great unconformity in geology and you will see God's hand in the reforming of our planet, seriously.

I don't see where the Bible says that the earth was recreated and there there was a period of time between the first Earth and the creation of Adam. Exodus 20:11 states that in 6 days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and ALL that in them is. That's everything including angels. That's as clear as it can be.

I’m curious why you say this falls short. I feel for your friend and pray that God reveals Himself to them, but there are clearly deeper things going on here. If they truly believed everything about the Bible, but this one issue turned them away, wouldn’t that be a little silly? To believe in a sovereign God that created everything that has ever existed, but then not believing that He could create things with perceived age, or do anything outside of what man can comprehend? The universe itself is already 100% incomprehensible. 10,000+ more years of science CANNOT ever solve this. Everything must have a beginning, something cannot come from nothing

I always wondered about when the dinosaurs were alive in relation to the timeline of the bible and the age of the earth. Maybe God had dinosaurs here on the earth before he started creating everything we have now??? I don't know. Does the bible mention dinosaurs? I have never seen that in the bible. Maybe someone here can shed some light on the subject of when the dinosaurs were roaming the earth.

The last sentence places all the events from the beginning to the creation of light within the first day. You cannot say that anything pre existed before the first day.
Look at the word placement of AND. This makes all the events that took place in a period of time that is then defined as the first day
“5 God called the light Day….”. In this context, how can there be a day before there is light? Light was created in verse 3. How could verse 1 and 2 fit inside of this day if a day requires light and dark?

Them= heaven earth and the sea
All that in them is =
All that's in heaven: Stars, The Moon, The Sun, Birds, Angels, seraphs, cherubs, the 4 living creatures, etc.
All that's in Earth: Beasts, Humans,creeping crawling things, plants, trees etc
All that's in the sea: Fish, whales, all water life and plants etc.

Michael, you are a great representative for God and common sense, but here we have to part company. God provides us with the Bible and some feel the need to inject something that they believe is "missing" from the story.
As far as the Job reference to morning stars singing for joy when the earth was formed...
A. Is Jesus not referred to as the bright and morning star in Rev 22 : 16? Wouldn't that suggest that this is a reference to beings and not physical stars?
B. Daniel 8 : 10 refers to stars being "cast down" and being "trampled upon". Does that not also sound like a being, as opposed to an actual star or meteor?
B. Do we know of any physical part of the cosmos that does any actual singing?
The wind sings and the ocean claps. What about the trees in Isaiah I think clapping their hands. More than likely many things produce their own sounds and frequencies. Just a thought.
But of course this is something the church need not get hung up about as not central.

Seems that there is an order to the way He does things.
If I said, "I cannot go out drinking and fornicating tonight" because I've decided to shed the flesh for the Lord, it becomes a matter of our will. We cannot do those things or engage in the activities that violate our existence. Maybe God cannot allow Himself to violate His own will, provided we believe that He has a will to begin with. Just a thought two years down the road.
God cannot be evil, He cannot fail, He cannot lie, He cannot die, He cannot multiple things. Like Dale mentions, because His will is righteousness, holy, just and all the other aspects that is good and never changes as He has always been and shall always be, His will cannot allow Him to do things against His character.
The word cannot does not always indicate a negative like you automatically assume, it can also be used in a positive way, as it would with any use of 'God cannot'. There are many words we use today as a negative but their origins were positive, and vice versa.

But...it can be discerned somewhat; by "connecting the dots"; covering a number of scriptures. But even there, the bible is NOT all revealing on many subjects; even though MOST Christians believes it does.
Thus why there are so many "damned" foolish doctrines, churches and dogmas, etc, all over the world. Spewing their theories "are the right ones" and "all others are wrong". Sad indeed! Wonder what Jesus thinks about that satan-led, circus calamity in Christianity? Huh? Now...

If you are wrong or I am wrong or Pearl is wrong, it doesn’t matter! We all will know one day! That’s the beauty of it! We shouldn’t let it tear us apart or create a disunity between believers. God say that whosoever believes in Him shall be saved!
God says study to show thyself approved to Him. So we aren’t wrong in creating theories, as long as that doesn’t change the fact that God says “Whosoever believes shall be saved”!

He did not say that the subject does not matter to him. He said it doesn’t matter to him how old the Earth actually is, only that the Bible does not say one way or the other like many claim it does
This is where preachers lose me. Appearance of age wouldn't explain the half-life of atoms that have decayed for millions of years. It doesn't explain the phylogenetic tree of life. Why would God create animals to not only have apparent morphological descent, but also have the exact corresponding genetic descent? Why do you have a genetic trail of breadcrumbs that align perfectly with the evolutionary model of descent that was developed long before DNA was even discovered? DNA, which was only discovered because there was no other way to explain evolution than to have a vehicle to carry the information necessary to explain it.
The evidence all leads to a very old Earth and a very old universe, with creatures that have evolved over very long periods of time. Suggesting otherwise looks the same as those who insisted that the Earth is at the center of the solar system and the Sun is in orbit around it. I don't understand why it's so important to interpret the Bible as being literally true on these points? The physical mechanics of creation doesn't change anything.
