Good question See it's all about aerodynamics, if the design of the wheel cap is such that it will increase air resistance then the mileage will drop with long kms . Now how much the drop will be is difficult to say as it has no measure. But in practical the difference will be minimum or negligible.
Yes i agree the reason why i am asking in my car i installed aftermarket cover and the fitting is not proper also the design is not flat so it create drag and wind resistance my car mileage is poor as well hardly 10 km in city

As it was zip tied with steel rim so never came out from the wheel even at 120kmph, but I removed it as the paint was peeled out from the surface
