Alloys are headache in general. Prone for dent/crack if you hit a bump or pothole in speed. And then replacment is only solution. Alloy adgantages are marginal.

Performance related to braking is dependent on the contact surface area, and not on material.
Alloy wheels are lighter, which usually help during tyre changes, but has no effect on fuel economy. Period. Theory ko side me rakho. I have 2 i20s at home. One with alloy and the other with steel rim. Fuel economy is exactly same.

In short, alloys wheels are anytime better than steel wheels if you are driving in normal road. But if you are driving in off road go for steel wheels without thinking.

Alloy reduce average because it cover more road area. Because of Friqtion it reduced average but increase breaking. However steel are more powerful then alloy.
Does we keep nitrogen in tubeless tyres for alloy rim ? (In context of rusting /corrosion or any reason )
Nitrongen has really no benefit, it has been tested on racing cars, even in racing nitrogen is not used. Now think think and think, india is place where one industry can fold millions
Nitrogen is used because compared to natural air nitrogen doesn't expand or shrink due to temperature change so the pressure inside the tyre remains constant throughout the journey.

Just a quick question - if what you are saying is true then why now days all car manufactures are giving alloys be it a BMW or Santro. I believe company gives something after doing complete R&D. They give steel rim on lower model is just because they are cheap. So it’s simple if you are paying more you’ll get better. I would say if people can afford then they should probably go for it.

Dear want to tell you that “Plati” alloys are made in china, it’s Ludhiana based tyre dealer Monga Tyres which is importer if Plati, Plati is their own brand. It’s not Indian
it's from Taiwan not china.

First of all you have to know the raw materials of alloy rims. All alloys are not made from same materials. Different materials, different hardness, different breaking strength, different shearing strength and the list goes on. Expensive cars have expensive alloys which are far better from steels.

Alloy used to break, but on the other hand steel rim never gets break,
And i agree breaking is better on alloy but fuel efficiency is better on steel rims

I have Ford aspire . Currently having 14 inch alloys . 175/65 tyre. Can I upsize tyre like 185 or 195 / 55 with same alloy.
I want less bumpy ride, less noise , a broader tyre look.

Original Magnesium And Aluminum Alloys are Lighter than steel and stronger than steel . Hence it is a better option.
Aftermarket alloys are only for show and it is made from iron so it decrease milage

It depends Mike on the type of alloys.. today in market there is both low quality heavy weighted alloys and high quality light weighted alloys. For example low budget alloys can be more heavy than your existing steel rims.
Dekho jitna zyada weight hoga car oar etna hi average kam hoga gaadi ka...or zyada ter alloys ka weight zyada hi hota hai...

@Appu the entire weight of the car will be on the wheels if its steel or alloy..whats the use of light alloys wheels if they are lighter
@Appu i guess on the performance side there might be improvement..but not on mileage...juat bcoz of 10 to 20 kgs of weight reduction due to alloy wheels you wont see any mileage reduction...you are not making aero dynamics of the car better or you engine will not suddenly become more efficient due to 20 kgs weight reduction..
Alloy wheels doesnt effect mileage if you choose the same size , if you go for bigger size , it increases ground contact and more friction less mileage

Swift 165/80/R14 .wanted to upsize 185/70/R14
Endeavour 265/60/R18 upsize with 285/60/R18...

Swift dzire tyre options:
1)for vdi,Ldi, Lxi & Vxi- 165/80R(normal size) and 185/70R14 88S(broader size)
2) for Zdi/Zxi- only 185/70R14(which is only for topend versions)
It means that topend me broad wala hi lagta h (It has alloy) and aapke aur mere wale model me aap dono me se koi ek size dalwa sakte hai.
I rubbish all this - With the traffic situation as it is, jams and deadlocks everywhere, my next vehicle is going to be a Road-Roller. No punctures, no problems of bad-rough roads, potholes or uneven roads, don't have to change the wheels ever and most importantly - No One will mess with my ride - if they do, they will get the damage, not me. And, everyone will make space for my Roller.

alloys rims are for style only..and not as strong as steel rims for sure ,no doubt alloys rims are also sturdy and long lasting and more over its looks good on any car rather then steel rims which does appeal n look good as alloys. its my personal n practical experience i feel so. only disadvantage of alloys rims are that if it breaks its not repairable.and steel rims does not break at all, but bends frm sides if hit hard in driving.but one thing for sure i felt is when driving in alloy rims the steering and the complete car driving becomes smooth and very controllable too. feel lighter and more drivibility of car is better then steel rims.Overall Alloy rims are better then steel rims in looks ,reliable.and driveibility of cars then steel rims.
