How It Feels to Enter Power Armor

Models come from Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas.

Powerful suits meant to give the wearer control over the heaviest of ordnances. No one would blame you for doing a superhero pose or two whilst you were inside one
Just thought of doing a HALO jump (High Altitude Low Orbit) in in X0-1 power armour would be amazing to experience.
I kind of want a suit like the Iron Man Mark 1 Suit. Not from the movies. From the old comics. Which it was scary and one suit he used for years. Until he upgraded to his more iconic look and that look carrying over into other models.

I just realized in the other fallout games you need to be given training to use power armor, but in 4 you're a veteran so you already have that training
It makes so much sense now, well with Nate it does. But with Nora, not so much.
@@MLGLionKnightsomeone theorized that she was a army lawyer which is how she met Nate. However that doesn’t explain how she knows how to use power armor. Nate could have just taught her how to use it in emergency situations
@@Possiblyabird234 that's a pretty valid theory
Only in 3 and New Vegas, fallouts 1 and 2 dont have a training requirement.
3 and vegas has training requirements for balancing reasons but power armor training isn’t a thing in most of the games plus literally every random person can wear power armor in 4 so the army vet theory is completely pointless.
For all Fallout 4's many, MANY flaws, one of the few things I can say in its defense is that 4 had the best take on power armor. It has the vibe of a huge, bulky sort of mech suit, which I absolutely adore.
Also you can use different chunks of armor instead of full set (which should probably give you some sort of debuff for mismatched armor and buffs from full set) in true wasteland fashion. If only there were more modifications for it...
I've always said that the beauty of the fallout games is they capture the energy of fallout yet feel so different. 1 and 2 is turn based, 3 and new vegas where almost semi-realistic, a 4 a 76 went with the retro future all the way. It feels like every fallout is strapped with a S.P.E.C.I.A.L, some attributes better than others but no matter what similar.
I wish cores worked differently, but I agree.
"many, MANY flaws" doesnt even name one. Fallout 4 is the most fun, immersive and polished Fallout to date. When is that so hard to understand.
@@irarelyupload6930 it's not NV I guess
One of the few things in Fo4 I prefer over the previous games is the power armor. I love that it feels like you're in a man-sized tank.
Power armor in previous games felt like armor…
Power armor in FO4 felt like POWER!!!
'essentially bought Fallout 4 for its power-armour; how they looked 'n' felt just nailed what I wanted outta' a powered suit.
I still feel like they give it to you way too soon without any proper buildup, but I'm so glad they gave it an actual identity and purpose beyond just being another piece of armor
@@Starpotion I won’t deny that, but turning power armor into a mech suit what such a good idea
As much as F4 and it's first quest sucks- I do agree that the design of power armour there is quite awesome
Enclave power armor with NCR Ranger armor underneath. This is the definition of *style.*
Edit: to those who say it isn't Enclave power armor...it very literally is. The Advanced Power Armor the Enclave uses in Fallout 2, the first game they appeared in, is slightly modified X-01 power armor (called directly by Arch Dornan the "Mark II advanced combat armor," which would make it the X-02, at least to me). You can just look at the armor in Fallout 2 alongside the X-01 and see that they're nearly identical. All later Enclave power armor types were based off the X-01 design.
An excerpt from a loading screen in Fallout 4: "The X-01 series of Power Armor was specially engineered and employed by remnants of the U.S. military after the Great War, and offers increased protection over the older, pre-war models."
The enclave developed the xo-2 or advanced power armour post war, this is the xo-1 power armour, which is pre-war. I have no life if you couldn’t tell
@@connorclements3999 (pointing and looking shocked at the camera) LORE!!!
Imagine riot power armor my dude! =o
If the armor fails, just become a cloaked badass again while quick ejecting
@@connorclements3999incorrect, enclave made X-01 as well, it's mentioned in the loading screens in fallout 4 and it's mentioned they make the armor in fallout 2, also the enclave remnants use it in new vegas as they are remnants of the fallout 2 enclave
I just realized something. In 1, you can't get Powered Armor until later on. In 2, they introduced the Enclave's Advanced Powered Armor to outclass the player's Powered Armor, neither of which you could get early either unless you head for Navarro early. In 3 and New Vegas, you need a specific perk to use Power Armor, but since you meet the Brotherhood so early you can still get Power Armor early on in the main quest by looting their corpses, you just can't wear it. In 4, you cannot wear Power Armor pieces at all; you have to put them onto a frame and get in that. If they made it so frames were less common, likely having to get a frame later on in the main quest, the "Early Power Armor" issue could be alleviated somewhat.
In 4, you get power armor, a minigun, and already kill a deathclaw in the first few frickin minutes
@@binn2662to this day one of the dumbest starts they could've gone with, in my opinion. Take the coolest armour, one of the coolest weapons, and one of the scariest enemies, and turn them all into garbage. Since you're getting all this in the first 15 minutes of gameplay, they had to balance it all for very low level characters.
@@zrspangle Always the saddest whining excuse.
You get what amounts to a rust eaten, barely functional armor with a single core, a minigun with a single box, and fight a deathclaw with a small horde of raiders helping. Said Deathclaw will rip your shiny new armor a new one, and take your entire mag, thus leaving you with, in effect, a frame and some broken armor.
@@TheDapperDragon If you struggle that much in defeating that death claw than im sorry to say thats just a skill issue. And T45 requires only steel to repair, it would only take like at most 5 mins of scavenging to get the required amount, thats if you dont start scrapping everything in sanctuary.
@daxie__3210 turn it off very easy, step out of the pa, then talk.
I love the little detail of when the ranger is inserting the power core, the small movement he does to line it up and slide it in, so nice.
Power armor is just an upgraded knight's armor which is why it's so badass.
I mean that's why the brotherhood of steel literally refer to themselves as Knights, paladins, etc
teach armor exists in Arcanum which is sort of like Fallout in fantasy time

A thing that has always been in my head is like, changing x-01 power armor eyes to a different color, so they glow VERY red, and then sitting in a dark corridor, and when someone hostile passes you thinking you're hollow or out of power, you turn the lights on and scare the shit out of them. Or if you're not in combat and someone initiates it, you turn on red light eyes to let them know they're fucked and immediately does an intimidation check to get them out of combat
A raider stalks the interior of a dark ruin, the moon high in the sky. Shotgun in hand, his breath steady through the mask, he turns a corner.
CRACK. A noise, in the hallway. But nothing's there, not a sound. He turns his flashlight on the hallway.
It's an old suit of power armor, but it looks burnt out. The Raider approaches shotgun aimed at the head. The armor is strange, with great big shoulder guards, a flatter chest, and it has two bug like eyes. The Raider doesn't know what it is, and steps away, thinking it's an old useless armor, he turns his back on it.
CLICK. A baleful red light illuminates behind him. The Raider is frozen with fear, it's only 5 steps behind him, he must break the spell of fear.
STOMP. He shakes off the stiffness.
STOMP. He racks the shotgun.
STOMP. He takes a breath.
STOMP. He turns around firing 3 shells at the metal horror.
STOMP. It did nothing. The metal horror is looming over him, its baleful red eyes staring daggers into his very soul.
The bullets ricocheted, failing to hit the beast.
It grabs his shotgun, a move so swift the Raider barely saw it, and it lies crushed. With the other hand it grabbed his throat, raising high above the ground.
A voice from the horrors head speaks, a deep noise, filled with static.
"You bring any friends with you?" It asks.
The Raider only nods as he tries in vain to break the horrors grip.
"Good." It says as it leans in, its baleful red eyes meeting his.
"There next."
SNAP! The last noise the Raider ever heard, as he slumps to the ground lifeless, was the horrors metal steps walking away, as he hears that distinctive...
