I think your best bet for the flight suit is to sew on the details using different color cloth. Looking at the source material, it actually looks like the orange is the extra cloth sewn onto a chacoal gray base suit. It looks like they're intended to something like wear points, where the suit will rub and chafe against the interior of the power armor, while offering lighter layers for joints like under the arms. It also looks like there's a grey patch on top of the orange patch on the chest to provide a secure rigging point for a harness of some kind. Additionally, it looks like there are connections points for hoses for a climate control unit to keep the wearer cool underneath all that clothing and armor, which, is pretty realistic because you'd *need* something like that in order not to overheat.
Sewing extra stuff on would prolly look nicest, but could always bleach the design then dye those parts. Might help it not need the climate control! Or perhaps sew some lines after you dye it.
>builds Power Armor exoskeleton in his garage that would make a DARPA engineer raise an eyebrow >needs help dyeing fabric First off, you're still doing pretty damn good brother. I wish I had a garage to build stuff like this.
If you want something heavier to work with for the undersuit, a welders suit should work. There's a lot of different designs, and the orange color is spot on.
@@defiantnight2668 For the full jumpsuit? Probably, but I bet you could strip an insulating layer out with a seam ripper or a pair of scissors, and then you'd still have the heavy outer fabric to work with.

I can’t even remember the first video I saw of this project it was that long ago. But it’s incredible too see it finally complete congrats dude this is looks amazing.
This is absolutely incredible! You are an artist! I'm blown away. Not only that, you legitimately have the look of a Brotherhood of Steel Knight while wearing the armor.
Wow. So amazing dude. Truly something incredible that you personally have made. Something that had made hundreds and thousands of people happy to see. What a joy to watch! We love your work and you
Absolutely impressive, sir! I got literal chills when I watched ya come out of it! My better half suggests sticking to sewing or hot gluing fabric, as the painting the suit may not quite "pop".
That is AWESOME! Amazing work! The only thing I'd say is that a blue Vault-Tec jumpsuit would probably be a bit better for a cosplay since it's more recognizable, but the armor itself looks fantastic!
Oh my god this is amazing!! The way it opens is perfect I am so in awe! I'd go to colossal con just for you! For making the flight suit look more like Danse's, I'd recommend fabric paint. It'd be the only way to get clean lines that way and you could even get the little black lines. if you want the orange to be a little less bright, you can partially stain your suit with coffee grounds! it won't cover the orange like dye would and (with oxyclean) it could be restored to full brightness too. I hope you have a wonderful time at your con! :)
There are a couple of resist dyeing methods that would work too. Basically you get a paste (it could be mud, wax, or starch etc) paint or you could even screen print it on. Then when dye the cloth it'll protect to original colour. Just using paint is probably easier lol
For the accenting on the jumpsuit, depending on the material, you could use iron on fabric and do some stitching both for looks and to ensure the fabric stays where you put it.
Very well done Sir! I love that you used a material lightweight enough, yet sturdy enough to allow the use of motors to open the suit! Very creative and I cant wait to see what you do next!
This is a crazy journey I've been following for years now. It's so cool to finally see it finished. I hope to see more incredible builds from you in the future.
Nice! As far as adding detail to the jumpsuit I've had pretty good luck masking and spraying for one-off pieces and short runs. I wouldn't bother with dye unless you're going for an overall change. For things like those dark stripes, good quality masking tape (the old school 3M beige stuff) and multiple light coats of Krylon can give you results as good as screen printing.
If dye were desired, he could make a batik wax line between two strips of painter's, remove the inside strips, then bleach and or dye the inside the second color. Or sew on a reinforcement in the fabric color of choice. And then there's marker paint, embroidery, and patches for details.
I was thinking during the first part how cool it would be if someone could make one that actually opened up like in the games. Than you absolutely blew my mind. I'm speechless at the determination and ingenuity of you.
