I do not have the time, the patience, or the available space in my brain to deal with the Hermes "journey". I do love luxury handbags. Admittedly, at one point, I found myself getting sucked into the game. The fact is, other than a few of the bag styles, I don't really care for the brand's aesthetic. To meet their worthy customer qualifications, I would have to spend thousands on things I don't really like. That's irresponsible and just plain silly. There are too many great brands, emerging and established, that produce fine leather goods that I can purchase. I'm treated respectfully in the boutiques. And, at least, they act like they are grateful for my business. Life is too short for the Hermes nonsense. Good for you. Make this the final episode of your Hermes chapter. I am rooting for you.

Sorry for the poor customer service you received from Hermes. I agree customer service is everything, I find myself always back to the same shops because of their customer service and kindness of the sales associates. Glad to hear you have some wonderful SAs to help you.

Hi Deb, what a shame you felt this way after visiting Manchester Hermes. I shop at this store and have found them really helpful, I got my Kelly last year and didn’t have to wait too long at all. I’m not a big spender and only buy what I love, but I do pop in sometimes just for a chat with the sales associates. Maybe you could call in again when you’re in the area, try another wish in September and see what happens, you’ve got nothing to loose 😊
Ah thank you for sharing this. The lady was lovely and helpful when I was in store. However she did ask me to email regarding anything I wanted help with and so I was disappointed not to receive a response. I will call in when I am in the vicinity. However I don’t live near Manchester either it’s just a bit nearer than London. So it’s not somewhere I can pop in regularly. That’s why remote assistance is much easier for me. I’m glad you had a fabulous experience x
So gutted that Hermes has changed so much from the beginning of this year. Customer Service goes a long way & Hermes is very disappointing now.

Speaking as someone who shops in London I also think things have changed. I've been waiting for my second quota for quite a while and I think there is a shift to helping out those who are new to the brand. But I think I am lucky in that I love the other Hermès products they offer so buying doesn't feel like a chore to me. Have been able to get two bags in two years one quota and one non- so feel very appreciative. Also would you ever consider doing a beauty routine? You always look immaculate xx

As I listen to this your story, it sounds like a lover who has jilted you and moved on, but you still love that person. It's time to put it behind you and focus on something better and healthier for you. That blue ink bag alone is gorgeous enough to be contented with.

I feel this too. On holiday I went into Hermés to look at the tableware. After I waited for about 30 minutes standing up the SA came to help me and the lady was so unenthusiastic and tired looking. I just looked at the teacup and it honestly kind of started to somehow look cheap and undesireable purely due to the experience.
In both Burberry, and Louis Vuitton they treated me so warmly and immediately offered me a cup of coffee.
My customer service ranking for that 1 trip (no home boutiques/SA's) would be:
Loewe & Maison Margiela > Burberry & Louis Vuitton & Céline > YSL & Gucci & Bottega Veneta > Tiffany > Hermés

I 100% agree with you that the SAs in LV and Dior are miles away from the SAs at Hermes. I have shopped at LV all over the world now. Sometimes I’m even there just to buy SLGs nothing too fancy. And I will get the same quality of service no matter what I’m buying. Same with Dior. The way Dior will shower you with gifts and complimentary services especially with Dior Beauty is unparalleled! Even with Chanel though some SAs are more subdued, which may just be a cultural thing but they are still a lot friendlier and accommodating. Hermes has made me feel like dirt. And never again. But I have seen other RUclipsrs have the easiest time with Hermes. So it is plain and simple. They are obviously profiling the people they want to buy their stuff. The way they look at you also from head to toe it’s quite obvious they judge on a very shallow level. They want to be exclusive and good riddance. I don’t need that toxicity in my life and I encourage you, and everyone else brainwashed with Hermes to do walk away. There are lovelier brands out there that will treat us better. 😅

i can agree with LV being amazing. i have had 3 SAs and they have all been amazing. my 1st was in my state and when she left i went to say bye and took her flowers, she moved on to nike, my 2nd was from FL and he called me from his LV phone to say bye and i wished him well to his new lux house. my 3rd was in my state and sadly i didnt say bye it was a quick move for him to CA. but each one of them was amazing! however with Hermes the 1 time i drove 3.5hrs to my closest one in Bellevue WA was horrible, told me to go to the real real and buy one, told me that said area is more catered to Asians as they spend more and they will get the bags.

I have also been ghosted by my SA (or was she my SA really, since I bought just one bag from her 😂). Another SA gave me her card when I bought a shawl 3 months ago, I contacted her for earrings and although she doesn't have them in stock, she got back to me in less than 24 hours and said to not hesitate to contact her again should I need anything. So, while I am not getting the product I want, I have to say she is very polite and responsive.

That's why I believe The Margaux will carve it's way as an heirloom for the Row, because you can have the minimal look in high quality leather without 'proving' you are 'worthy' to buy a bag. Too many are still enamored with the H game because Birkin 'exclusivity' has been 'established' and hyped for years and resell value has been accepted as a factor for making it the most 'desirable' bag to own.

I think it’s the luck of the draw with sales associates at any brand now. You had an amazing Hermes SA for YEARS! So it’s just a matter of time before you find a great one again. I have an amazing SA at H selfridges and she goes absolutely above and beyond with answering my messages, finding things I want, and to think of me. So I would encourage you to not give up. You may also hear back from the wishlist - I know of many people who’ve gotten bags off the wishlist without a relationship with an SA.

If I want an Hermes Evelyne bag would you suggest preloved? I am not a huge bag girl, I carry nice but very usable bags. I am not a Birkin or Kelly girl either
I have been asking about the Evelyne for over 2 years now. Not had any luck at all in store. I have been told by Manchester and London that the only way to get one is to call into store and hope they have one. They can’t look out for one for any customer and can’t reserve or hold it etc. So that means we have to just be lucky etc. So I suspect it will be pretty impossible to get instore. It will attract a premium pre loved but I think that’s probably the only way x

This is not a criticism at all as I would love to have the bags you have but do you think that Hermes are stopping people Hoarding their coveted bags? I have seen a few people that have loads of amazing bags no longer getting offered bags. Do you think they might be giving others a chance of having one? Xxx

It is only fair to ensure that other fans of the brand get a chance too. It’s a funny one as on flip side when you feel you’ve been a good customer and then get ghosted it’s just a little annoying. X
Re: Hermes ‘don’t like it’ if you cancel a wish list in a city far far away to open another one in a city slightly less far away because they won’t embrace modern tech and insist on you going into store for the honour of spending a hell of a lot your hard earned cash on a product that they sell, so every time you ‘pop into store’ it involves a 4-6 hour round trip on a terrible UK train with smelly toilets and no seats for three figures worth of fare at busy times or a long drive. IT’S MADNESS!!!!

That really stinks about both SA's not responding to you. I find it doesn't matter what the brand is as to how it relates to if a SA gets back to me. I almost never shop luxury in the city I live in because I have been ghosted by so many SA's at LV and Gucci. I still shop LV with my OG SA in Vegas and have a great experience and same with Gucci, Fendi and Dior there. My Gucci SA and the store manager treat me like I am a VIP and I am a tiny peanut customer same with LV, Dior and Fendi but Gucci is the best. I am lucky my Hermes SA is wonderful and always responds back to me but that doesn't mean I am getting quota bag offers either. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Guuurrl! You do not need to put up with that Hermes treatment to spend your hard earned money. That is way too much energy and anxiety to endure for an invitation to buy…..quite frankly just a purse. After all it is still a leather handbag. Now I do get it with the quality etc and the heritage but dang girl…its just too much. I have 2 Hermes bags but was unwilling to play the game so I just bought what I wanted on the pre-love market. I had no issues with authenticity or anything in fact one of them is at the Hermes spa now as we speak. It was in great condition but I wanted to give it a little love before I started to put it through the paces. You are way too nice and kind to put up with anything other than nice and considerate SA’s. But I do feel your pain because I know how much you love the brand.
It’s a shame but at the end of the day it is just luxury shopping and I don’t need the stress involved x
Give Delvaux a try, if you like their designs. Their leathers are just as nice as Hermes, and they don't engage in sales practices that degrade their customers.

I hope you cherish what Hermes you have and maybe be proud of the date/time you decided to "quit". Ugh its like an abusive relationship where you only hang out with them when they are nice...it still feels kind of sad.

I have a sneaking suspicion that how responsive an SA has to do with the rest of their clients on their list ( i.e how u stack up against them) and how senior /experienced the SA is… ( i find the more experienced ones more responsive and not so bothered by focusing on getting baller clients as they already have a long list of them)…

As you've said, you're an ordinary person.There's nothing wrong with that, I am as well and wouldn't be in a position to buy an Hermes quota bag even if it was offered to me. But the thing is, Hermes doesn't want ordinary people shopping there. It's very clear in their business model, which is purely targeting ultra high net worth individuals as they will buy anything and everything in the store. They want "lifestyle clients", not those who just mainly want the bags. They've been moving towards this exclusivity and (false) "short supply" model more and more, and their profits keep growing every quarter, so that reinforces it to them that this business model is the way to go. I suppose many ultra wealthy people enjoy the chase, just as you can see from other brands like Rolex, AP, Ferrari, etc.
All that to say, I think if you want another Hermes bag, the resale market is the only way to go. It sounds like the stores really aren't the way to go anymore, especially as you don't live close and aren't willing to buy a bunch of random stuff you don't want just for the hope of maybe getting a bag in another year or two. And not even necessarily in the specifications you want! Sadly there are a lot of other ordinary people who are playing this game and well... I hope it's worth it for them. But for me it wouldn't be. Resale or even gently used preloved seems like the only decent option now.

It’s disappointing, and I can appreciate that. I don’t get the Hermes thing, to be honest. I own a lot of beautiful designer bags, but they’re not part of my collection. Love the craftsmanship and quality, loathe the process Hermes is using indiscriminately. I don’t feel I should have to jump through manufactured hoops to buy something with my own money. It’s the principle of the whole approach they have taken. No worries, as there are so many gorgeous bags out there to be bought! 😉♥️👍

I don’t understand, how these sales associates don’t cultivate clients, is so much easier to have a relationship with the clients , instead of helping the walk ins, I worked in retail, I had a client book, and I got on that phone and called my clients, I always was the top sales person

You come across as such a lovely person. I just think the Hermes "game" seems really snobbish and vulgar. It has put me off the brand. I have some really old Hermes items from years ago, but I would never buy from them now. I've even gone off Chanel as a brand too. I think Celine and Dior are much nicer brands.

Agreed. I had better luxury experience at Burberry on Bond street as well as both the flagships Dior and Chanel in Paris. As my husband described the experience at Hermes “we were cattle going through different stations trying to check a box and fit their criteria while they decide if we are worthy of a bag even though we can afford it.”

We know when we’ve been had but I’m glad you can laugh about it. No doubt the SA is a lovely person but they have the patter and as soon as you walk out that door, they forget all about you. Manchester store is probably there just to take money from the Cheshire set of footballers/TV personalities’ WAGS. I don’t think they care about long term customers like they claim. Same with Chanel. It’s like when your banking institution has offers for newcomers but nothing for its regulars. Maybe James will leave LV for Hermès one day then your luck will change 😂.

You have definitely answered your own question…. You could hear how stressed and frustrated you are about Hermes…. And like you say this is suppose to be fun, enjoyment and not feeling like you are not worthy enough is rubbish. To top it off if the SA at Hermes are not communicating back with you, that is shocking customer services , and they do not deserve your money or your time… never mind you getting stressed…. If I were you I would take a step back and if your wish list gets offered to you before September then it was meant to be otherwise, time to move on and appreciate other luxury brands, and those SA’s.

Look I don’t own any Hermes. If I could I would have a Kelly but it isn’t a priority in my life. I own a lot of luxury goods and I understand why people love Hermes. However, I will never ever grovel to any brand in order to make a purchase. Life is a “journey”, Hermes buying is not a journey it’s an experience and if it’s awful, then just walk away. One day the penny will drop and people will look back and wonder why the hell they put so much effort into buying a bag.

I have the only one that ever interested me, an Evelyn that I bought 10 years ago when I walked into the Toronto store & asked what they had. I decided a while ago that I won't be watching or following ANY content on Hermes. It honestly makes me feel nauseous. I made an exception for this one, because I was curious about your update. Forget the guy....he's cute, but he's a jerk, and he'll always do you wrong.
