    Hi Steve, thank you for this, it’s great! I have a question: This is mostly to isolate a a vibraphone player in a band setting right? What would you do in a solo sense, like playing a Bach solo or any other classical vibe solo and you want that big church resonance? Is what you are saying about isolation and being in a non-reverberant space still applicable? Or would it be better to find a church and record in it?

      Hi Jade thanks.. No need to isolate when playing solo. If you were in a beautiful space and want to capture that, you could either pull the mics back, or perhaps use two sets of mics- one closer, and one further away to capture the sound of the room. Otherwise, you could attempt that church sound in the studio using some good reverb, however mileage may vary...Hope that helps!

    Hi There, have you ever used PZM mic off the tubes?

      Yeah it works but not ideal. If you want sweetness and detail use a good condenser. Cheers!-s
