Thank you for the great videos. I have become an addict. I just order 3 hybrids from Etsy for the crazy beautiful variety of Phals. p.s. I love your voice and cadence of speech.
I wasn't a particular fan of orchids until my goddaughter brought me a Phal for Easter. I had never seen an orchid with yellow flowers before. The blooming lasted for almost three months, after which I was wondering what to do with the plant. Then I came across a video of yours and realised that the Phal needed my help as she was growing in a pot much too small for her. I wouldn't have ventured to do the repotting if I hadn't seen your instructive videos, and even now I was extremely nervous and tried to get the Phal into the new pot as quickly as possible, fearing that she might suffer if she didn't get the new medium around her roots asap. After a few days she decided to push herself into a position which is almost vertical, but as she seems to be quite happy, I let her stay as she is now. Thanks to you, the Phal has become more than a mere plant for me - she is my baby! 😊
My mom bought me an orchid last November. I was actually quite upset because I kill all plants within weeks and I didn't want the poor thing to die. So, I watched some videos and I have tried very hard to keep it alive. So far, it has been the only plant I have ever kept alive for more than a month lol! It is now 10 months old and had grown 4 new leaves. I'm hoping to get it to bloom this year too! Thank you for your helpful videos.
Dani, I've watched a ton of your videos. I'm a serial killer of houseplants and my heart sinks whenever I receive a plant as I know I won't be able to care for it. Anyway, my husband got my a pretty phal for our anniversary, and I was determined to keep it alive. I read the instructions on the plant tab...imagine that, it helped! So my phal bloomed for months and months and also grew three new spikes! Feeling like a pro, I told my husband I was only happy to get orchids for houseplants. He bought me another and i moved house...and that one got spotty flowers and dropped the blooms. I then received a mini phal as a housewarming gift, which also drops its flowers. After this, all their leaves looked shriveled and floppy and i finally went online for help and found your videos. A week later, and my flowers have improved! I've repotted them all and they all had rot sho I've followed type advice for them and also used lemon juice on the leaves, and they look great! So, thanks From my orchids, and I'm now a big fan of orchids. I'm not going to buy more, until I know more but ius definitely a new love.
I wanna thank you so much. I always loved orchids and when I got one about five weeks ago I watched all the videos I could to learn how to care for them. My orchid was on clearance for $10 dollars and it was not going great at all. Watched your videos and cut bad roots, replanted and tried my best to keep it happy.. now it has buds! Thank you so much. Still have much to learn but your videos helped so much!
I had an orchid that finished blooming, took care of it this past year. I just repotted it after watching your video and since I think it is getting ready to bloom, watched this video which explained what to do. Those stems are brown and between the last two leaves…i noticed another one on the other side. I hope I repotted it at the right time, it had a lot of dead roots. It is near a window and now know about the stem reaching for the sun…thank you for this video. Very useful information.
Omg!! I finally have my first spikes from the first Orchid my husband bought me in February. Looks like it has 2 spikes so far. We had a cold front come here in Florida, USA and it must have triggered it. I’m so excited 😱 means everything I learned here and applied to care for them is working. Thank you so much for all your videos y are a wealth of knowledge. Keep them coming 💙
I bought my first moth orchid last week with a beautiful spike which still have blooms to open. I'm so happy to see a video about how to have it rebloom or care for it
Thank you for this awesome videos!!! I was so upset last year because I couldn’t get my orchids to rebloom, and I didn’t know why. After watching your videos, I followed your recommendations, and now both of my bigger orchids are growing stems that will bloom flowers. (My baby orchid currently has flowers). Thank you again!
What a lovely video, I have a few Orchids now, the oldest I have had for 10 years next year, I didn't realise they needed cold to bloom! she reliably blooms every year, now she is happy. I get at least one spike a year, a few years she has grown a second one in the same winter which is lovely! Thanks for a very informative video :)
I live in Queensland Australia. My orchards love growing hanging on my trees. Ibuythem cheaper when they are damaged and nurture them. I have attached some to the trees and they looked dead but have began to grow. Waiting for the flowers too. Love them.
Thank you so much for all the great instructions! I’m in North Texas and had a couple of sick orchids that I’ve revitalized. I’m letting them grow now hoping for blooms in the winter. I also have two others that I’m feeding and taking good care of. Ty for all the great content.
So I cut my plant stem half way and I grew a new spike on it. Where u said it’s 98% of a chance of regrowing in the same stem. I’m so happy I got mine to do that. Love ur videos thank u
Wow, this is fantastic information to have! I've been keeping orchids and other plants for about three years now and I am constantly looking for ways to expand my knowledge and make my plants happier. I have read a book and quite a few articles on Phals but I still learned quite a bit from this video. Thanks so much for what you do! 💜
I have been watching your videos for a couple months now and I just want to thank you for all the helpful information you post. I unintentionally (almost) killed my Phal and through your guidance; she’s on the rebound now! Severe dehydration and root loss has turned into her growing a new leaf and more roots. I can wait until she’s healthy enough to grow a spike again. It’s been years since I’ve seen her blooms (from first bringing it home) and I don’t even remember what color the flowers are anymore.
I'm really glad I came across this video, it's my first time caring for moth orchids and I thought it died when the flowers fell off. Super informative so I know better on how to care for my lovelies~
Oh, how I super-loved this video!!! Wondering why my one yr old (to me) phals won't spike. All my Questions were answered by you. I totally get it now. Thanks Danni👍
I am so so grateful for your videos and the knowledge you’re giving us. I decided to buy the Repot Me mixed & mediums and plastic air pots. Along with my new Soltech Solutions grow light and Levoit humidifier, my two orchids are now growing flower spikes. One of them even has 2 spikes! Granted, I live in Vegas! Dry humidity and bad lighting in my apartment. I’m beyond ecstatic! 🤩 Thank you Thank you thank you!!! Also, your voice is heavenly which makes it more pleasurable to pay attention easily. How synchronistic that this video popped up on my feed was when I went to check that my flower spikes were growing.
Good morning Ms, I am so grateful for your time and we appreciate your videos and all the best advice you give us on our orchids you're awesome 👌 👏 👍 have a blessed day 💖
Hi, I am so glad to have run into your video, thank you so much for your vid, I really learned a lot. I had problems with my Mini Orchid, and I am excited to know that my plant has two flower spikes. You have been my life saver thanks again!! 🙂
I have a couple of "grocery store" moth orchids. I keep them in an unheated/un air-conditioned hallway in a north window. These minis are putting out two spikes in this second year in my home...Yay! No special care...just normal watering. Super easy to grow.
My orchid just grew a new spike today after 2 years of nothing! Thank you so much for all your great videos! I almost killed my orchid two years ago by putting it to soil and not watering correctly…
Hi ,I'm trying to follow your program because I love orchid video which I found really informative . I've lost quit a few orchids due to mis understandings at present I have this one which I bought last November to replace one I was given to keep alive , it pain my heart when they die. Now this one was found with ants nest so I try to flush them out by running top water on the roots but a few days I noticed that one of the leave started to turn yellow at the base of the plant then another one at the center , so right now only one leave is left ,some of the roots are still green also the flower spike ,which I notice two spike growing on the old flower spike ,do you think
It looks like I have 2 new flower spikes sprouting from my Phal. In addition, the old flower spike is sending out new blooms. So it looks like I will have flowers blooming from 3 spikes.
Thanks for all the information. I am new to orchid care...been caring for mystique orchids about a years now, and I just verified I have gotten my first 2 orchid flower spikes on one of my 🪴 plants....I'm sooo excited ❤❤❤
Hello there, I was wondering (searched your videos) if you have a video of what to do just after purchasing an orchid? Maybe I didn't see it, but I really want to know the different steps after purchasing an orchid (when you bring it home). Thanks for your videos! 👍👏they are very helpfull.
Ty for this video!! I rescued a dying orchid from a toss bin at a store a few years ago. It has come along with new leaves and now my first spike:-) Should I feed the orchid during the bloom? Thx again!
I have 2 Phals that have flower spikes AND a new leave O.O......clearly I have Phals with minds of their own :D...I've repotted one and part pruned the flower spike (she made her leaf before I repotted and chopped!)
I have several phalaenopsis orchids and repotted them year before last after they bloomed. They have been growing well and have lots of healthy leaves and roots but they have not rebloomed- one for 2 years at least. I have other orchids in the same window that have continued to bloom (and have keikis!). I upsized my oldest orchid (possibly 8-10 years old) to an 8 inch pot and used the phalaenopsis gold medium from RePot Me. The other one I upsized from a 4 inch pot to a 6 inch pot in the same medium. Neither has bloomed since. I'm perplexed as to why they haven't bloomed now, 2 winters in a row. I will try dropping the temperature next fall. Any other ideas why they may not be blooming? Could it be because I upsized their pots?
I have asthma and cannot open my windows ever. I'm also disabled and have chosen growing and care for orchids as a hobby I can enjoy indoors. Gardening is my passion but no more. Orchids are truly rewarding and I'm having a blast with my small but gigantic successes of keeping my grocery store orchids alive and now starting to thrive. So, I have three phals and four dendrobiums (one is a Mint Chip). I just watched "How to Get Phals to Rebloom." You mention the trick of cooling the plants and tricking them into reblooming. Please confirm the indoor temp of 17-19C, and what can I do to mimick a cool down. I'm unable to move the plants outside, and putting them near the window is not an option. Can I place a small refrigerated or frozen cold pack (little frogs) on the plant or inside the planter beside the plant to achieve the same results? Is there such a thing as a desktop A/C that is the preferred method? Please advise me when you get a chance. You're my favorite teacher. 😇
I have a supermarket orchid who was in full bloom in March, from the shop. I repotted about a month ago in orchiata. She lives under led strip lights in a small grow space in my living room, and she's just starting a new leaf. Daytime it is about 23, night time about 17/18 degrees. Would she be out of sync and is there anything you would suggest I alter? This series has been so helpful and well presented, thank you Dani 😊 You've been instrumental in helping me understand my phals and other orchids so much better, which makes me very happy indeed.
Hi, if there is a space available for a spike, there is a great chance she will produce one with those temps :) just make sure the light are off during night time :) glad to have helped!
They get about 12 to 14 hours light a day. I thought it was an odd time for the leaf to appear but I'll take it! She was a mother's day gift, dyed blue. I'm very excited to see her in her natural state. To be completely honest, she would be dead if I hadn't come across you. Although... you've cost me a little money as I now have several types and a light set up 😂 I grow African violets as well, coincidentally. I really enjoy your videos, and your sense of humour. Keep up the great work, you help people in ways you can't imagine.
Thank you for your videos. Why do roots coming at the base of the orchid woody looking. What is the cause of this and is it healthy, what should I do to freshen up these roots and look healthy. My plant is healthy and I have repotted it. It is growing more air roots and overall looks good to me.
Hopefully with the info in this video i can get mine to bloom this winter or next year. I tried at the beginning of this year to try cutting for a secondary branch, but sadly all i got on both that i cut were a little nub that just never grew even after months, and i ended up cutting the spike off and since have gotten at least 1 new leaf on each orchid.
Hi great information, my orchid blooms twice a year. Once usually in February and right now in August. But I've noticed that some times it produces flower buds that'll fall off before blooming. Do you know what's going on with my orchid?
Dear Dany, Thanks for your great videos. I have a mini Phalaenopsis. The leaves are growing with very small gaps between each other. Will there be a possibility for this orchid to grow new flower spikes? I have pictures of it, but I don't know how to send it to you.
Good morning 🌞☀️ I love 💕 your videos and the way you explain I all ways love ❤️ orchids but I never buy my self because it’s very expensive and I don’t know how to take care of it one of my sons gave me one for Mother’s Day it’s so beautiful 😍 and I like to know how to take care of it I watch your video and the way you explain I love it 🥰 thank you ☺️ very much and god bless you 🤗👍😍
I just ordered new media and a ventilated pot. Waiting for them to arrive. My question is that my flower has not grown a spike in a over a year. It has grown a new leaf though. Do you think with new media, and a root trim that it will help it and I may get a new spike at some point?
Same is happening with my very first orchid, I didn't have any idea what I was doing with it, but luckily it is still alive, roots are healthy and it has one new leaf but the others are leathery/wrinkled. I also bought new medium, pot and fertilizer. I think my problem started with not replacing the media, it is 3 years old and soft so I'm confident that environment has not been beneficial for my orchid, second I wasn't watering enough, and lastly I never used fertilizer on it since I got it. So 3 years of same old media, no fertilizer and irregular watering so it is no suppose my orchid hasn't grown, much least spike and bloom. I'm hoping now that I am actually doing my research and I having had success with a another orchid which is just over a year old and bloomed but then product secondary spikes (which are still making new buds) and a keiki that I can revive my little one. Most important I think it old media, it needs to be fresh for orchid to be healthy, second is fertilizer, the older the orchid the more nutrients it needs to maintain itself and theoretically the older it is, the bigger it is and thus more nutrients needed. And lastly is watering more consistently but with the other blooming orchid I still don't water it as often as I probably could but it seems just fine with that lol.
Neoagegirl The Maverick it’s probably my old media. Orchids need to breathe. Fertilizer is important as well, and at 3 years, you’ll definitely start seeing the issues. If it’s too hot or too much direct sunlight (direct Indoor light seems to be fine for me, might be the UV rays), that’ll yellow the leaves. Leathery leaves or very floppy leaves means it’s not getting the right amount of water. Broken down media can change how it retains moisture, most often holding more because the air pockets are gone. I’d recommend repotting, fertilizing (I use miracle gro powder every third watering), and checking temperature.
Hi Paul, in short no. The gray roots are called aerial roots and provide nourishment to the orchid. It is normal for a healthy orchid to have them, so i would suggest you do not cut them
Please don't. Those are "air" roots and will absorb humidity from the ambient air--mine are in an unheated hallway. Our house doesn't have central heating.
My orchid was purchased with 3 flower spikes! This bloom it produced 1. Did I take it out of the cool environment too early? If it will have more than 1 spike do they grow at the same time? My spike is starting its buds, while it has flowers can I chill it again to get another spike?
When is the best time to buy an orchid? I’m new to this as a neighbor gave me her orchid that only had 4 leaves said maybe you can giver her some life. It has lots of great roots. So now I would love one with flowers
Norma Ouzman she mentioned it in another video, but she would spray water ON A COTTONBALL/COTTONPAD(never the leaves!) and gently wipe the TOP SIDE of the leaves. Never the bottom because it is where the leaves breathe from.
I've had my Orchid for a couple of years and I was wondering why it kept growing leaves and roots like crazy. I thought I was doing the right thing by keeping it cosy 😅 but I would like flowers too!
Me too. For 10+ years I had several species of orchid, all growing leaves and roots like monsters, even making some keikeis, but never blooming. I'd ask what to do at the orchid shows and never got any info except give them water, food, light and super narrow temperature ranges. I'd show them pictures of my robust orchids and they'd shrug. I gave up and just enjoyed them as unusual houseplants. Finally, after watching some of Dani's videos ALL my orchids have bloomed this year, some of them twice. New flower spikes galore. Some of the folks I asked in the past were commercial growers or hobby growers themselves, not just resellers. How could they not know?
I have a question about orchid potting mix. I bought some at a local greenhouse and the bark is huge. I saw a video where you used medium bark. What is the best to order from Repotme? I have 14 orchids at the moment. Lol

Thanks for your videos! 👍👏they are very helpfull.
Ty for this video!! I rescued a dying orchid from a toss bin at a store a few years ago. It has come along with new leaves and now my first spike:-) Should I feed the orchid during the bloom? Thx again!
I’m addicted because of you!!!!
I have 2 Phals that have flower spikes AND a new leave O.O......clearly I have Phals with minds of their own :D...I've repotted one and part pruned the flower spike (she made her leaf before I repotted and chopped!)
Haha same here I have 3 phals that have produced leaves , roots and flowere spikes at the same time and its only just turning summer here in the UK ☺
Thanks for the tips! What fertilizer do you use to water your orchids? Thanks!
Can an orchid "sense" when it's around other orchids? I have two that are both doing much better since I put them next to each other a few months ago.
Yes. Plants can smell each other and usually are able to differentiate between say a tomato plant and a wheat plant.
Sadly I didn’t see this video in time & broke my flower spike. Thank you - my friends & I love your videos !!
Thank you- this was great and the very helpful and informative.
hello, just new in taking care of orchids. your video helps a lot. Thank you so much.❤
God bless you po!
@@jennmcc5842 it's horrible when they dye something that wonderful in its natural state...or at all!
Where is the link to the video talking about inducing secondary spikes on phals? Can’t find it in the description box
Thankyou, learned alot from your video today.
What do you use to shine the Leaves?
I want to know this too. My leaves are not shiny, except for the new ones.
Had nice growth during down time, then a new spike emerged! Was repotting it and my hand slipped and broke it off at the tip. It will die right? 😭😭
Omg thank you so much for this you've really tought me a lot
Hi great information, my orchid blooms twice a year. Once usually in February and right now in August. But I've noticed that some times it produces flower buds that'll fall off before blooming. Do you know what's going on with my orchid?
Wow, that pink, orange and yellow striped orchid is breathtaking...what kind is it?!
Dear Dany, Thanks for your great videos. I have a mini Phalaenopsis. The leaves are growing with very small gaps between each other. Will there be a possibility for this orchid to grow new flower spikes? I have pictures of it, but I don't know how to send it to you.
Thank you Danny for your information, I would like to know what do you do with air roots, some are very brittle, do you trim them off
Useful video.. thanks a lot. So many kind of Orchid in the world. As i have of Indonesian Orchid
Good morning 🌞☀️ I love 💕 your videos and the way you explain I all ways love ❤️ orchids but I never buy my self because it’s very expensive and I don’t know how to take care of it one of my sons gave me one for Mother’s Day it’s so beautiful 😍 and I like to know how to take care of it I watch your video and the way you explain I love it 🥰 thank you ☺️ very much and god bless you 🤗👍😍
Can you please do a video on how to tell if phalaneopsis roots are healthy?
Rachel G she did do one, when she bought some and was repotting them.
I followed your advice and my orchid is growing flower spikes thanks
I have some type of Orchid that was gave to me, it is potted in regular soil......any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Great video, what do you do with phal spikes that are over 12 inches?
Hi, it's called a Gold Staff :)
Your orchids are so beautiful 🤩 where did you get them from?
How long do you keep them in the cool room and does it need light and water?
Thank you. Can I cut the silver gray roots extending outside the pots?
Any time. Just don’t let it freeze on the way home.
Amazing techniques, thanks for the useful tips👌❤
I have been given an orchid that needs desperate care. What should I do to get it growing nicely again. Thank you so much
Shall we cut back flower spikes of oncidiums after blooming?
Hi what do you clean the leaves with to keep them clean and shiny
Norma Ouzman she mentioned it in another video, but she would spray water ON A COTTONBALL/COTTONPAD(never the leaves!) and gently wipe the TOP SIDE of the leaves.
Never the bottom because it is where the leaves breathe from.
Michelle Camacho thank you

warm temperature to the leaves or to the roots? Thanks!
Perhaps they didn’t want to give away the ‘secret’ so that you buy more plants in bloom?
Excellent! So informative!
Mine never rebloom, what kind of fertilizers did you use and how often?
I have a question about orchid potting mix. I bought some at a local greenhouse and the bark is huge. I saw a video where you used medium bark. What is the best to order from Repotme? I have 14 orchids at the moment. Lol
Thanks, you explained the tricks properly.
You're so informative thank you
