They're covering a 50-year-old song, along with the original artists.
They also did a collab of "Children, Go Where I Send Thee" with Kenny Rogers in 2015. And a 50th anniversary commemorative collab of "American Pie" with Don McLean, at McLean's suggestion, in 2021.
Pentatonix did a collab of "Jolene" with Dolly Parton in 2016.

Yeah, I was just ballparking. I could swear that the Oak Ridge version came out in the 1970s, but apparently not. 1981.
On the other hand, I now know that the song was written, and recorded and released by the original writer, in 1966. And there were many other recorded versions, prior to the Oaks version. So I was also incorrect in calling them the original artists.

I always loved this song when the Oak Ridge Boys recorded it in 1981. Tim's low note at 5:16 is on the breathy side - but I admit I am spoiled listening to Geoff Castellucci's bass tones. In the original recording, the guy really hit it each time. But, this arrangement is terrific😉😉😉!

This is a great collaboration between Home Free & The Oakridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.

They’ve sung with Alabama, Kenny Rogers, Lee Greenwood, Don McLean, and Oak Ridge boys. Now they’re collaborating with newer groups too, Texas Hill, Jeffrey East and Maggie Baugh. Home Free is so talented. You might love Brothers in Arms with Tim going low or I Can’t Outrun You with Chance singing low. Great reaction! The Oak Ridge Boys are country music legends. This is one of the ORB’s hits back in the last century (1980’s?) Please check out Home Free’s cover of When a Man Loves a Woman. Also, their recent release of the Doobie Brothers song Listen to the Music.

Who thinks he should react to the original Elvira by the Oakridge Boys? And I mean the original, from 1981.
