Remember, not one of those boys are under age 70. They held their voices well, but you need to hear them in their prime.
Tim holds Richard Sturbin on a very polished pedestal! Watching the two of them together is like watching an old version of Tim!❤
ORB bassist Richard Sturbin sang his parts exactly as he's been singing it for 50 years. Aside from some shared melody leads, the ORBs tenors ... Joe Bonsal and Duane Allen.... also sang their original parts. HF essentially provided the music that their band would have provided. Also, a shout out to Adam for his amazing drumming!!
The Oak Ridge Boys are legendary! Together with Home Free the singing & harmonies are simply fantastic. Adam's beatboxing is always perfectly suited to the music. Home Free also has a live version of "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem" with the Oaks. Thanks for playing this and your comments.
That video is Home Free with ORB and Jeffrey East, another fantastic performer with a beautiful voice they're bring along. Jeffrey travels with the Tim and the guys in their Texas Eats videos. It's so sweet and funny to see Jeffrey put his head on Mama Dena's shoulder and Tim asking if he's gonna be his new dad.
This is a great collaboration between Home Free & The Oak Ridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.
Tim has said that, typically, he feels pretty secure in his masculinity but Richard Sterban’s bass made him a little insecure. The Oak Ridge Boys kind of became mentors to HF and felt as if they were passing the baton to the next generation. The shirt that Austin was wearing was framed and, for a while was hanging in his living room in his “music area.” Duane Allen (tenor) performed at one of Tim’s birthday bashes. William Lee Golden had some advice for Rob when Rob said that his wife wouldn’t let him grow his beard any longer: “Boy, you got a decision to make!” Thanks, Jeremy!
😂😂
Austin got his shirt as a kid when he went to their concert and them signing it for him while he was wearing and singing with him was a treat of his lifetime. Hf regards the ORBs as mentors and heroes, great respect between the two groups of guys.
Austin has that shirt now framed in his home 🙃💗‼️🎵🎶❣️
ORB stated in an interview, after this song was such a massive hit, that "Elvira" bought them all new homes! Great reaction! SEH indeed! 🤠
Come Christmas I'll have to buy another cup of Coffeeas Oak Ridge Boys did a collab with Home Free on their Covid Christmas Special, and they sang Beautiful Star of Bethlehem together and it's pretty dang awesome
The Oak Ridge Boys range in age from 74 to 84 and still perform. Richard Sterbanis their bass and if you listen to the part right after the OomPoppaMowMow, you can hear how rich and full his voice is. As several people have mentioned, they did a Christmas special with Home Free and Jeffrey East called Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem and it is indeed beautiful! ❤
In a perfect world we could have an entire concert with The Oak Ridge Boys and Home Free.
I just love this collaboration! They do another one together, it's a Christmas tune, that I'll suggest closer to December! 😅
Such a classic song. Huge fan of The Oak Ridge Boys. I've seen them live many times. Age is catching up a little with Richard Sterban but he was one of the best bass singers in the 60's 70's and 80's. He at one time was a backup singer for Elvis.
This was a really popular song by the Oak Ridge Boys back in the day! ❤ They were big! I know the buys had a great time! So fun to watch!!👍👏👏
Love this one ... the Oaks are icons of country music ! Richard Sterban , the bass singer in the Oaks , sang back-up for Elvis in Vegas before he joined the Oakridge Boys !
Great reaction!! The Oak Ridge Boys are Mentors to Home Free.Home Free and The Oak Ridge Boys sang another song together with Jeffery East called Beautiful Star Of Bethlehem.
The Oak Ridge Boys are a Country/Gospel group started in 1943 in Oak Ridge Tennessee with the name Oak Ridge Quartet became popular Southern Gospel Singers in the 1950’s.Their group name changed to The Oak Ridge Boys in the 1960’s they sang gospel till the 1970’s then changed to country/gospel.They released Elvira in 1981
Here’s a list of the Oak Ridge Boys
Duane Allen (lead singer) sitting next Rob
Joe Bonsall ( Tenor) next to Austin
William Lee Golden (Baritone) White long beard
Richard Sterban (Bass) Sang as bass for Elvis for 2 yrs 1971/1972
This is so good! I think we Home Fries need to give you a heads up that you should listen to the message after the song; that it refers to the song they just sang and doesn’t give away a preview of a different song. Tim spoke about their reverence for the Oaks and mentioned that Geoff Castellucci arranged it. Thanks for a fun reaction!
As you already know they love collaborations.
The Oke Ridge boys are like Home Frees mentors and remember the Oke Ridge boys are in their late 60s and 70s and the bass Richard was almost if not as low as Tim in his prime. Great reaction man
Legends and legends in the making. Home Free are great collaboration partners because they always leave room for their collaborators and never try to hog the limelight. These two groups sound amazing together. I liked the Oak Ridge Boys version and I love this collaboration. Adam's performance was next level on this. Great reaction.
I saw The Oak Ridge Boys in concert when I was about 14 and again in my 40's and they put on a fabulous show both times. I love this so much! What a wonderful experience for Home Free . Thanks for reacting to them.
Arranged by Geoff Castelucci as well. :D Voiceplay used to do this on tour as well.
A couple of my fave groups❤
Richard Sturbin (bass) was a back up singer for Elvis for a couple of years.
Joe Bonsall is the fantastic tenor.
Duane Allen is the singer seated near Rob.
William Lee Golden is the bearded gent.
I have several of their albums.
So glad you enjoyed this collab😊
I loved your reaction to this song. I’m so proud of HOMEFREE for having respect for them. And didn’t try to show off , their personality and humble attitude towards The Oakridge boys was so special. Those boys were raised right. High Mrs ninja.
Actually Richard Sterban has a wonderful rich bass voice and on a side note, he was singing backup for Elvis when he made the decision to quit and join the Oak Ridge Boys. The Oaks just recently announced that after 50 years, they are hanging it up and retiring.
I love Tim's smile in this collab. He had done a radio interview 11 years ago saying this was his dream, to sing with the Oaks. Bucket list check!
Giddie Up, Pah Oohm, Pah Pah Oohm, Pah Pah Maw Maw! I grew up on this song because my dad was an old country boy. Love what they did with it! By the way, it's possible you've just heard the Oak Ridge Boys name and none of their songs, because this was their most well-known song. They were great back in their day. But HF kind of showed them up and I think they knew it, but there was sooooooo much mutual respect going around here. Thanks again for reacting. Love me some Home Fry DAYS
This was so great! Loved that Austin wore one of their old tour shirts and they signed it for him. It’s framed in his home now
I think Oaks bassist Richard Steuben is someone Tim looked up to as a singer.
I think so too. I was always so fascinated because he was the smallest guy of the group, and you never expect that voice to come out of him. Love them!
@@danivansuperstar
IIRC Tim has a funny quip about Richard’s bass. That when Tim was talking to Richard in person, it must be like how Austin feels talking to Tim.
You know what is really sad😢 the Oak Ridge Boys did not get inducted to the Grand Ole Opera until 40 years after they started ❤😊. I love seeing them now with HomeFree ❤😂😊
This song was a huge hit for the Oakridge Boys in the 80s, I was fortunate enough to see them in person several times. Without fail, every time Richard Sterban hit his low bass notes the women in the audience would go absolutely insane!
Lots of comments on the Oak Ridge Boys. They have been so popular for so long! This was so great, and there are a couple of Christmas songs they do together (one with Jeffrey East). Such a great lineup today. Happy FrYday!!
Fabulous collaboration 👍❤️👏
I saw ORB 3 times when I was (much) younger. I've always loved Richard Sterben's bass. Sterben, for 2 years, sang backup for Elvis before he joined ORB. The ORB just announced their 50th year anniversary, and final, tour.
Home Free wants to BE The Oakridge Boys when they grow up. Love this collaboration. Good reaction.
They sound great together ❤
Best roller skating song ever! Yes this was a huge hit in the early 80’s, The Oak Ridge Boys are so awesome, just great guys and I can’t imagine how much fun everyone had doing this. Thank you for the reaction Jeremy❤.
Richard Sherman (the low guy) can't get as low as he did, back in the day. He wasn't "flexing". He was just having fun, as this arrangement with Home Free was a fun production for both bands.
One of my Home Free favorites! ❤️🎶
Oak Ridges's bass used to sing backup for Elvis!!
So good. They do a Christmas song with the Oak Ridge boys too called Star of Bethlehem. It’s live and good. When the boys are touring they often do this song and Tim loves to have fun with the audience. He gets them involved and then goes really low. You can check out a live version recently in Europe. Lots of fun!😃
Fun fact before they filmed this Tim warned the Oaks not to stand close to Adam because of his 2 nickname SPITTER 🤣🤣
Richard was backup singer for Elvis.
Love the back and forth on this one! Home Free and their collaborations never disappoint!
When Tim was younger he wanted to be Richard Sterban the bass from The Oak Ridge Boys. From this time forward The Oak Ridge Boys became their mentors. Home Free has been on stage with them many times since the song. The Oak Ridge Boys are William Lee Golden (long beard) baritone. Joe Bonsall is the tenor and is amazed by Austin. And last but not least Duane Allen the lead singer. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
Richard Steeban sang back up for Elvis. I love the collab.
When they do this song live, Tim has said that he usually thinks he sounds pretty manly - unless he's in the same room with the ORB bass.
😂😂😂 THERE IT IS!! TIM FOUST! 🤘💀🤘
There she is!! Hey Ruth!! Just sent you a message on TikTok about the song request. Please reply when you can. 💀✌🏽
This is such a good rendition of this song. You can see the comradery between the groups. Love you reaction.
This really gives me the sense of "Home Free Past" meeting "Oak Ridge Boys future".
The ORB's bass, Richard Sterban, sang bass for Elvis Presley early in his career. Home Free definitely collaborated with true country legends on this song--and I LOVE this collaboration❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Good un!
Oakridge Boys bass singer Richard was one of Elvis Presley's backup singers before joining the Oakridge Boys. It's more like Richard is showing Tim, as Richard (80 years old) did it first back in the day. Tim was born the year Oakridge released the song. (42 years old). Joe Bonsall has still got it.
Great RXN per usual. Damn I need a musik hat!
The Oak Ridge Boys basically announced their retirement a few weeks ago and are now planning their farewell tour for 2024.
I don't think the ORB's bass was trying to flex. He was just singing the song the way he always did.
❤❤❤❤❤
The oak ridge boys wrote the original version of this song. So home free is working with the legends themselves.
One of my favorite collaboration!! 💝💞
Richard Sturbin sang bass for Elvis. Tim said he always felt very manly until he sang with Richard and now he knows how Austin feels singing with him lol.
I started watching you today. I love your Homefree playlist. Can't wait to watch your other ones
Yes! Welcome David!! So glad you are here! Stay tuned for this FrYday...we have a. Epic surprise lined up for 9am! ✌🏽
this song came out when I was a kid. always loved it. Rock and metal always my fav but grew up around country music.
The Homie Kawliga in the house!! Thanks for watching and the comment. Always good to see you, man! ✌🏽
Your welcome and always good to see you too man
I become a fan of the Oakridge boys as a kid. Richard was a big part of it. I know Tim Foust thinks highly of him as well. This song was changed this for this but I like both. Richard sang with Elvis so he has been around a long time.
The oak ridge boys were very big in the late 70's and early 80's
"Timbliovon"...🤣❤️
The "Oak Ridge Dude" (Richard) did it first!! He's the original. Tim came after. And Tim would tell you the same.
You are so good! A thought…can you fix some T-shirts with melted into Timbilivien on?
We've been thinking the same...let me check into it!!
Thanks
You don't know Elvira? ......... WOW! We still like you brother. The oom papa mow mows are old school. Right up there with Alabama, Marty Robbins and the Statler Brothers. This was our boys passing the torch to the next generation in their wonderful style.
YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE ORB ORIGINAL, to appreciate this! It is AMAZING!
👍👍👍💕🇸🇪😎
Great reaction, I hope you will check out their collab 'Beautiful Star of Bethlehem'
