That's exactly what happened to me. I had got my shirt caught on the trigger when holstering and didn't realize so when I pulled my shirt out....bang. Caught a hollow point through the thigh and came out just a mm above my knee cap. Barely missed my artery and no long term damage. Just fat and muscle. Got EXTREMELY lucky and thank God my wife who is an icu nurse was there when it happened. Went straight into holding pressure when I was in shock. I just kept asking how did this happen? I love the look and simplicity of the glock. Lacking a thumb safety is the only reason I never bought or own one. I might buy one now after watching this video.
I hope you've experienced the ownership of the most simple, reliable and some say good looking semi auto pistols by now. I can work all day with mine hot but I just added one of these manual safety switches 😂 just for experimental purposes
Have one on my G19 too. Why Glock does not offer it amazes me. Without knowing I could add it myself, I never would have bought a Glock. It's so simple, Glock could charge $50 more with it and sell a lot more guns.
Sorry about the late reply, but the biggest reason I could see for this not being offered is because due to the amount of open space that is introduced to accommodate the safety becoming a possible point of ingress for mud, dirt, grime etc.

Or Glock can actually listen to their customers and give them a manual safety instead of riding their high horse. Colt among many things failed to listen to their customers. Don't be like Colt, Glock.
Glock is the most popular handgun in the world, hands down, and they’ve never had safeties. Most people realize that Glocks are also among the safest handguns in the world when handled responsibly. No way they’re going to listen to the fudd MINORITY and start messing with their inarguably superior winning formula.
@@westpsmity true it may be a minority who would like safety's on their guns, but those customers still exist. There is a reason other companies such as sig which own just as big a market share as glock are putting manual safetys on their firearms. Very nice. I want to get a G19 for my daughter, but I want it to have a safety. Got her a MP9 2.0, but it’s a bit too heavy for a girl to carry around imo. My G17 is lighter than the MP9. If my Ruger 5.7 was shorter I’d give her that, so light and easy to handle.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer went out of biz due to illness and nobody bought the patent. So, unless you find a dealer that has old stock, no chance of getting a new one. As a side note: I do have a G17 with a safety kit installed on my retail shelf. If you're interested, give me a call. Phone number is on our website: acesandeightsfirearms dot com
I seriously can’t believe they still don’t offer this for the people that want one. Regardless of opinion, there’s 100% been 100,000s of people that went to a different brand because they don’t offer it , especially first time gun owners. They’ve lost money . I mean even if it’s literally a new model and it’s carry size and it’s the only model that offers it .
I’m having one installed right now. I got a Vedder full sweat shield holster and I’m wondering if the safety is going to interfere!? The guy who is doing the work for me has done thousands and he said it shouldn’t be a problem. However, I think the holster will need to be modified.
After going back and watching this video I see that when you flip the safety on and off with your thumb it looks like you contact the safety with about the middle part of your thumb. I'm thinking the longer tactical safety might be better, in that it would be a little more positive to hit at speed. I can't find your new video on the tactical safety. Have you made it yet?

I've been considering buying a Glock 23 Gen4 but ONLY if I can add the manual thumb safety. I noticed in your video that the trigger did not reset after you pulled it. Is this a result of the mod or faulty spring?
I'm confused regarding your question. The slide must be cycled for the trigger to reset. After I pressed the trigger and cycled the slide, the trigger did reset. I engaged the thumb safety after I cycled the slide at 0:38 sec.
@@rdtaguestudios maybe I'm wrong but what I saw was that you cycled/pulled the slide back @ :24 with the safety on then attempted to pull the trigger and it blocked the trigger. @@dumbangel6795 The slide must be cycled after the trigger is pulled, in order for the trigger to reset. The trigger will not automatically reset UNTIL the slide has been cycled. This has nothing to do the the manual safety. A bone stock Glock requires the same action for the trigger to reset.
