Yeah that one clip of the family yelling at the bigger boat I saw the original clip and commented that I didn’t think the bigger boat was at fault because it seems like he’s going slow and trying not to make a big wake and that I was just really wavy in the canal .
With the 500 + times I’ve gone through the Canal, and the 3 vessels I’ve seen get swamped, never once did I see the State police take any actions against the speeders. Too many morons driving boats
The easy solution to the speed limit is to simply plan your passage so that you transit with the current or better yet at “slack water”, that way you can obey the speed limit without being accused of going too slow. The speed limit/ no wakes zones need to be enforced and ALL violators ticketed!!! No excuse for the arrogant disregard for proper seamanship by these speeders! That said, only a fool would take a bow rider through this canal!
There is absolutely a right time and a wrong time to come through the canal! We pretty much know when to be there at its roughest. There are certainly times its flat as glass.
No wake zone? Correct! The canal produces wake itself and you have to navigate the strong current created by the canal. Going slowly can dangerous and irresponsible boat piloting.
In the Uk, whilst travelling by boat on the canals and rivers it is not permitted to leave a large wake behind which can damage the river or canal banks and local wildlife, moor on bends/corners in the river or canal and go 600mph like its Hawwai 5-0. When passing moored boats, a tic-over speed of 1 to 2 mph is agreed.
I bet that was fun! PWCs actually aren't allowed in this canal. I wish they were but you know someone would get wild and ruin it for everyone 😔 Thanks for watching!
The waterline length of the boats hull determines its hull speed. The larger the boat, the faster it can go through the water without throwing a wake. The Queen Mary there at the end was going fast enough that a smaller boat would be on plane at that speed. If you noticed it threw hardly any wake at all.
That is an insane rationale for no wake. So you're saying 20 knots is better for "no wake" than 4 - 8 knots with a lumpy stern wave. Yeah, and safer??? Idiot.
Thanks for sharing your experience from the Lewes-Rehoboth canal. It's unfortunate that some boaters don't follow the no-wake speed limit. Let's hope that increased awareness and education will encourage everyone to prioritize safety and respect for others. Happy boating! ⛵
My dad took me trough the canal when we had the old bridges, and there were whirlpools back then, so you had to pick up speed to get through successfully, but now i see boats going fast all the time from start to finish, we don’t have the whirlpools any more so, I think everyone should slow down, the police should give out more tickets. But hen again, I under stand you now have to go faster just so you don’t get swamped, because of all the wakes of the other boats Crazy….
A No Wake Zone is a crock of s - - t. It is a meaningless, unenforceabie term. It takes LESS THAN 2 knots, *close to an idle* , not to make any bow wave or stern wash. "No Wash" is technically no more than a ripple from the 2 corners of the transom. Try it sometime. In Australia we have some 4 knot, 5 knot, 8 knot zones, all of which make FAR MORE than "no wash". Here also, No Wash is a joke which noone takes seriously. And no Maritime Officer can ever objectively, legitimately ticket any skipper for speeding unless it is a recorded radar readout, just like on the highway. Their verbal assessment from mere observation on the water would never stand up in court. A No Wash Zone is a totally bogus concept and water police know it. Thus it gets ignored. The ONLY WAY to cut this washing machine pictured above is to ENFORCE a *2 knot zone* with 24/7 speed cameras, just like on the roads PLUS constant marine patrols on weekends. Anything else is a sham. End of story.
In N.J. the Morons drive boats just like their cars. They can never go fast enough. The right lane on the highway is the new passing lane, even though it is a 4 point moving violation. No worries though, their is never a cop car on the GSP
The captain with the children on the front of the Bow is inexperience and that is dangerous them children should have life jackets on and not be on the front of the boat
Apparently no licence is required to operate a boat in most states of the USA. which is as ridiculous as not requiring a Drivers licence. All you need is a credit card !
I was stuck behind a guy going way to slow in there last year while getting pushed by the tide definitely made steering difficult, that canal is the biggest idiot festival on the planet I grew up in point and lived there for 41 years before moving recently. Been fishing in there 100’s of times and taken boat through handful of times and the amount of stupidity is mind boggling
Its certainly rare to see someone going too slow but it does happen. The example shown in this video was because the guy in front of the Boston Whaler was on his phone not paying attention to anyone around him. I wish we would have had a wider lens on our camera that day because the boat yelling "I cant go this slow" was pretty close to hitting the side.
Great video. Nice to see regular boaters instead of the same old Haulover videos!
Glad you enjoyed!
The treadmill analogy is really good for those who are beginners
I think it's supposed to be the slowest speed possible in order to maintain a controlled forward motion.

Young guy swearing at a big boat is being very foolish.
I appreciate how the video broke down boating into simpler terms for viewers to understand.
Where are you watching from today?
Delray Beach 😎
and practically no one using life jackets
With the 500 + times I’ve gone through the Canal, and the 3 vessels I’ve seen get swamped, never once did I see the State police take any actions against the speeders. Too many morons driving boats

Absolutely. We keep our boat in the Barnegat bay area and I will not run the canal if there is a peak current in it. Way too dangerous.
The visuals used in this video were really engaging and kept my attention throughout.
Great video! Great point made about going too slow!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The different camera angles used in this video made it visually interesting to watch.

You should film at Shark River this year!
We will definitely be there this season hopefully with some good action!
We made 6ft standing waves by going idle in a canal with a pwc. The issue was the other 110+ pwcs around us doing the same. Was insane
I bet that was fun! PWCs actually aren't allowed in this canal. I wish they were but you know someone would get wild and ruin it for everyone 😔 Thanks for watching!

Long time ago but yea it was. 150 miles covered.
Thats a good day of riding! We do something similar down on the Chesapeake Bay
50 years of being around that canal and I have never seen a party boat go through there! Where is the Queen Mary going??
Everyone in this video should’ve had a life preserver on

Where are the Troopers?🤷🏻♂️
Single screw boats have a much harder time in the PPC.
We have the same issues on the Lewes-Rehoboth canal in Delaware-but no current. Just unlawful boaters not wanting to obey the no-wake speed limit.

no body wears pfds crazy
Law only requires those under 12 years old to wear a life jacket.
In my jurisdiction, a boaters licence is required, but there is no enforcement, it is a gong show every weekend,
No cops around geez that’s dangerous 😮
Most power boat owners think a wash is the thing they have once a week in their shower to 😮
My dad took me trough the canal when we had the old bridges, and there were whirlpools back then, so you had to pick up speed to get through successfully, but now i see boats going fast all the time from start to finish, we don’t have the whirlpools any more so, I think everyone should slow down, the police should give out more tickets. Same here, 40 years ago stuck under bridge wide open and not moving.
Why don't the police just use speed radar guns?
Reklerss?
The commentary on these videos is very annoying. Sounds like a bad AI voice.

No life jackets that's bad
Big deal, go fast!
This guy sounds like a Kevin...

They do it because the man not doing nothing about it
Formula V kids need PFD's on.
notvreçlus soeed lghini v12 searay 260 suñdacer 60 mph top speed
Yes to fast & stupid Capt sit kids down in stern nice PFD’s another weekend warrior
Know your insurance policy about the use of radar before you commit.

Karen disguised his voice and made a video lol 😂

I was ready to pull the dickhead move and blow past him but there was a lot of boat traffic coming the other way
The Narrator?
Completely unnecessary. LOL
