This brass and copper handbag is referred to as a “pillow purse”. I purchased mine NEW in 1972 for about $6.00. They were considered “Hip” when we wore them with our bell bottoms, long embroidered vests, puffy long sleeved blouses and platform shoes or boots. They were all the rage but extremely impractical. At that time, you only needed to put a comb, lipstick, cigarettes and a lighter in them. After continually opening them to get out a cigarette, the latch became an annoyance. Todays sellers mistakenly date it to the 1930s. They sell now anywhere from $30-$100 depending on condition. Mine also had a blue velvet interior. Beautiful restoration.
I have one that I bought in the 70s it’s brass I still have it it’s in mint condition.. it’s not a practical purse but I did use it often when I went out on weekends to discos… it is unique and many have asked me where I got it ..don’t remember how much I paid for it but it definitely is a conversation piece..the restoration is great and never thought that rust would come off the way it did … it really looked totally corroded..
@@deborahbryant3266 I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say the red velvet looked “cheap.” But, I also was quite looking forward to a royal blue velvet lining. Probably because red feels somewhat overdone(?). In fact, I might have even deviated from the original unfinished/raw lining edge to include some sort of finish trim to cover/hide that edge. Either make certain the edges were properly finished prior to gluing the lining inside the bag, or glue a piece of trim such as lace or beading over the raw edge so that it looked finished and elegant. And if we’re going to stick to repairs equal to when the bag was manufactured, maybe including several crisp $100 bills wildly missed the mark? Perhaps a $5 and some $1’s would be a bit more accurate? Maybe a lipstick or loose powder in era appropriate containers or a small pad of paper and pencil or even a few calling cards?!

May the metal workers of centuries to come show "your very own works of art" the deep respect you are demonstrating here to past centuries' metal workers. Good job, beautiful work all around and respect to beautiful objects made of quality material. You entered into a collective line of artisans whose work will survive them for almost all eternity to come!
You got a 10+! Such detail and patience. It's gotta be late 1800s. The red lining brings out the "golden sheen" of the metal. I would be proud to take this bag to a grand dinner party or the opera! I think of who might have owned this treasured piece, and how it got into such deplorable condition. What a find! Thank you so much for extending its colorful life.
Literally took my breath away when i saw it was copper. I thought brass, which is also lovely. I loved it even before the polishing began. What a special piece. Grateful to have seen this. Thankyou. 10
This bag is exquisite. Your work is phenomenal. Wondering where it came from and who owns it now. Loved the red velvet but wish you kept the original blue. ❤

Can we all admire how much work this person put into the bag. They could have skipped a few steps but didn't and now it looks so lovely. Good as new
its fake
Hello! Thank you!👍😉
Where are you watching from?🌍😉
Why?
So detailed and lovely. You are so patient. I watch you fix things and think maybe I could fix broken things in my life. Thank you
Ich bin begeistert mit ihren Arbeit. Es ist wunderschön geworden und besonderes, einzigartig.
Beautifully done....9 out of 10 because of the color choice for the velvet. Age probably...made in India in the 60's or 70's. I had something similar in my HIPPIE DAYS. Look forward to watching more of your restorations.👏
Oh! the beautiful purse is in the style of a cushion! Lovely. It takes a craftsman to know a craftsman!
Thanks!👍 Where are you watching from?🌍😉
May the metal workers of centuries to come show "your very own works of art" the deep respect you are demonstrating here to past centuries' metal workers.
Most likely it is 1930s
It’s probably 1970s or early 80s. Trendy at that time
Literally took my breath away when i saw it was copper. I thought brass, which is also lovely. I loved it even before the polishing began. What a special piece.
Grateful to have seen this.
Thankyou. 10
Thanks!😊
What country are you watching me from?🌍
Exactly. They used to sell them in Delhi on Jan path in the Tibetan bazaar. Maybe from the 80s and 90s.
Thanks!😉👍
Very happy you were able to restore this beautiful bag.
Awesome job!! 👍👍

Thanks!)
10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Stunning how you brought it back to it's glory days. I think it's 1920s, perhaps 1930s, almost 100 years old. Amazing 😍❤
Thanks!👍😉💚
I like that beautiful shade of blue velvet inside. It suits more with its polished form.💙
Thanks!😉👍
This bag is exquisite. Your work is phenomenal. Wondering where it came from and who owns it now.
Loved the red velvet but wish you kept the original blue. ❤
Thank you!👍😉
It came from the upside down
Its fake
Me too, the red is nice but the blue was gorgeous!
U can buy it in India for few dollars, it is not antiques, he is cheater
I enjoy watching a master at his craft create and transform things with his hands.
No matter how old is the small purse, it's an amazing restoration done. 👏
Because it is most likely to be staged. What’s on top of the clutch is paint and stuff put there on purpose.
@@UsagiPonPonfinally someone that's smart
@@lurdesoliveira Yeah, I’ve seen too many restoration videos since the time there weren’t so many channels, and I’ve seen how they became most of them very exaggerated and unbelievable. There is also some videos where people debunk them. It’s kinda ridiculous.
Thanks!😉👍💚
I have this exact bag, exact shape, design, arm strap and even clasp, it was a cheapie from a market in Camden selling dozens of them…
Cool! Then sell me this cheap one)
Thanks!👍 Where are you watching from?😉
Oh, easily a 10. That's an impressive restoration, it really is rather stunning, and I think the red was a good choice. What the steel wool did quite surprised me, I didn't expect that shine at all. If it probably is 500 years old, imagine the work that went into originally crafting that!
Felicitaciones👏👏❤❤
Thanks!😉👍💚
Muito legal o seu trabalho. A pequena bolsa é linda! Parabéns!
Najbolji posao na svijetu !!!Bez stresa a rezultat predivan.
Bolsa maravilhosa, e restauração impecável, ficou linda
Could you tell us how you came into possession of the bag? Where had it been as it rusted over? That’s a fascinating piece of the story. Your restoration made it gleam!
Beautiful work. It was very soothing and relaxing to watch , as well as informative. Love your thoroughness. The gorgeous handbag appears to be late twenties or thirties. I can picture the finger waved hair and outfit that went with it.
It's so pretty. You did such a great job restoring it. And thank you for not using music or narration, your video was perfect just the way you made it, with the natural sounds of what you were doing😊
Thank you!😉👍
Simplesmente um show! Forte abraço do Brasil! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
Oh my gosh! I have this exact same bag in my vintage collection, it's a favorite piece and this was a lovely restoration!!
