Just so you know, you were not disrespectful in the slightest to the Professor. If anything, you were extremely kind. Most reactors cut out the ads and try to push their own stuff. You're out here encouraging us to join up with him and his sponsors. That's very stand up of you.
Well done on the reaction as well. You took what he said and gave your opinion. Exactly what you should be doing. Great job!

The professor has interviewed Neal Schon and Johnathan Cain , lead guitarist and keyboardist respectively, but hasn't interviewed Steve Perry because he's been pretty much reclusive since he left Journey. Steve made his own solo albums and has recently announced that he has signed with a new label and is considering possibly touring again which he hasn't done in 25 years. He is 75 now, by the way, so may not be up to the physical demands of touring but we tried and true fans hope that he does. By the way Neal Schon was invited to play with Santana at the age of 15 and Jonathan Cain wrote Faithfully in a few hours while touring and it was personal. Steve was a drummer ,bass guitarist and pianist as well as the Voice. A very multitalented group.

The Professor has been "studying" music almost his entire life. He tributes his desire for music to his father. His father got to him into music pre-teen...as you watch him, he gives you these little tidbits of memories of him and his father and their link with/because of music. Its beautiful.

The Professor of Rock is amazing. I love his channel.
And Yes. Steve Perry is “The Voice” … “The GOAT”.
Gregg Rollie played with Santana at Woodstock. Neal was not with Santana at that time. At the age of 17, Santana and Eric Clapton both wanted Neal to join their bands. Neal decided to go with Santana.
I’m a big fan of Journey and certainly of Steve Perry. I don’t think Journey sold out at all. I think that others were didn’t like that they became a huge hit while others that started back when Journey did were still struggling a bit.
Ansley Dunbar was actually fired by Journey’s manager (at that time) Herbie Herbert. Ansley didn’t get along very with Herbie or Steve Perry. He was also known for bad-mouthing Journey around the industry. I think one of the main reasons why Herbie had finally had enough was several complaints about Ansley getting involved with under-aged female fans one of which was the daughter of the local sheriff in one of the cities the band had played in. So Journey hired jazz drummer Steve Smith to replace Ansley. Steve Smith is a great drummer and has had his own jazz band for over 40 years. As it stands now, Ansley was included when Journey was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I would not like them any less. Any band that has one of the most popular songs in the world like 44 years later is not a sellout. Purists are so annoying whether it be music, clothing brands, politics, diet fads, exercise regimens, sports both type and style, or recreational activity. I like the Professor of Rock (think that's him), he knows more about rock trivia than maybe any person on earth.

Thanks for this reaction! Please don’t apologize for your stopping and commenting. First - it’s YOUR channel! Secondly - it’s actually very cool to hear all the similarities between rock and rap. I believe it’s because regardless of the genre, the core components will always be the same. I like to (try) to sew anything from clothing to crafts. In the end the core components are the same (they all require a machine, certain fabric, patterns, seam allowances) It’s just the finished product is completely different. In other words, deep down - we’re all the same! Please react to Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’ now that you know the true meaning of the song! Thank you, God bless you! 😊

Well, after Steve had to stop touring with the band because he had to have mandatory hip surgery, when he had recovered and went back to Neil to get back to the work, he was rejected and told that they already had invited another person to be the the next lead singer. Steve has been quite gracious about his replacement and I have read his praises for this man.

First, props to ProfessorofRock, I’m a fan of his channel. He’s always got the details and the story. Second, Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezing is one of my favorite Journey songs. That and Mother Father are definitely worth reacting to. And last, I guess each artist has different reasons for doing what they do, but if you can’t make a living, then you’ll have to stop doing it full time anyway, so I don’t think it’s selling out as long as you can still enjoy the music you’re creating.

I saw Journey before they got Steve Perry. They became a much better band with him. And I wouldn't say they "sold out." There's something that people forget in hindsight and that's the power that MTV had on the music industry. They could make or break an artists career - and they did! Ask Billy Squire!

Steve Perry was asked early on about this and posed the question What is commercial? Is Led Zeppelin commercial? Is Pink.Floyd commercial? These bands are popular is all. When Journey was not as successful and doing as well as we are now, we had many critics who would write things about us like like the band was forensic with ots guitar playing or had record companies pan us for not being playable. Then, when you are successful, the same ones criticize you for your success snd dubbyountoo commercial or Hecsaid tgatsxwhy we dintbgive a diddly hum about what critics or others think about us because it's the people who listen to us and who come to our shows who decide not critics. So if we have a great show and time and those who come to see us or buy our music love us, then that is our review. So, it was really Herbie Herbert as manager that heard Perry's vocals on a demo tape and said this is the guy Journey needs to take the band in a new direction. Dunbar
Was replaced because 4 members of the band wanted to go in one direction, and Dunbar didn't. Perry said Dunbar was an excellent drummer but that his style of playing wasn't in sync with the music being written andvdirection if Journey. Steve Snith was a Jazz Drummer who went to the Berkley School of Music and was touring eoth the band Montrose, which was opening for Journey. The guys took a liking to Smith and had him join Journey as Dunbars replacement. Fact is, you need to progress at times in other directions to achieve success. By the way, most album.covers for Journey were designed by Mouse/Kelly out of San Francisco, whom produced many of the iconic covers for the San Francisco music scene

With that said, I think, back then, there were great singers, authentic, no auto-tune and real. Perry also played drums and bass, so with the "originals" i think that's where that went sideways. He's a huge perfectionist too, so there's that. Keep doing the reaction stuff, that's what WE'RE here for!!!❤🎶❤👍😉

Steve Perry was born and raised on Hanford, next to the East Bay. He was the lead singer of Alien 👽 Project. Unfortunately, bass guitarist 🎸 Richard Michaels Haddad died 😢 in a car 🚗 accident. Thus, the band folded.
Late Herbie Herbert called 📞 Steve Perry about joining Journey.
In 1978, Ainsley Dunbar, a UK 🇬🇧 drummer, joined Jefferson Starship. After a few albums, he quit to join Whitesnake, saying hello 👋 to fellow UK 🇬🇧 citizen David Coverdale, the lead singer.
In 1981, The Babys 👶 had John Waite as lead singer, Ricky Phillips as bass guitarist 🎸, Tony Brock as drummer 🥁 and Jonathan Cain on guitar 🎸 and keyboards 🎹. The Babys 👶 broke up 💔. Brock joined Sir Rod Stewart. John Waite went solo. Jonathan Cain joined Journey. Greg Rolie retired from Journey.
In 1988, Waite, Phillips, Cain, Neal Schon and Deen Castronovo formed Bad English. Ex Journey members Greg Rolie and Ross Valory formed The Storm. Bith bands broke up 💔. Journey reunited. Steve Perry quit. Arnel Pineda is the current lead singer.
Suggested videos 📹: 1 Steve Perry and David Foster perform I Stand Alone 2 Bad English performs Straight to Your Heart 3 The Storm performs I've Got a Lot to Learn about Love 4 John Waite performs Missing You.

This was 1977+ and it was all disco crap on the radio. Honestly the rock music attracted the guys from the dorm across the parking lot. When the guys came over, the girls from my dorm came over. It's so cool how you've honed in on the artwork in a lot of your reactions. It's one of the things I miss most when it comes to buying music. Growing up in the 70s & 80s, I remember flipping through LPs at the record store and buying a record just because the artwork was so incredible. And it didn't always stop at the cover. The tiny images on a CD or streaming platform just don't offer the same experience as a 12" canvas.

Professor of rock is a great channel. He has so many insights and interviews with artists, behind the scenes stories, and he does a great job of telling them, I highly suggest to anyone to check out his stuff.
One of the great stories I seen on there is around the song "Don't come around here no more" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. A song inspired by the morning after Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) spent the night with Stevie Nicks. Her recent ex bf, Joe Walsh (Eagles), came knocking on the door with Dave still inside. She wouldn't let Joe in yelling, go away, don't come around here no more.
    It's quite the story.

Especially their hit song on the 1981 Escape album with "Don't Stop Believing" which you've already reacted to, now you need to react to "Mother Father" and "Only the Young" which should have a video on their channel next cause. Yeah, you'll see why Steve is named The Voice, but as for your reaction to this, people who react with. Why are you talking over the video I would ignore them. They have ADHD of the brain. Us older people who watch your videos. Want you to react to things that you didn't know because you have to remember we know journey. We grew up on it. You didn't grow up on it. So we want to see if your reaction to certain things about their story that we know. Or songs, do you react the same way we did? So don't worry about those people leaving dumb. Comments they just have ADHD of the brain that's unfortunate in the world. We live in Immediate Self Gratification, wanting to just see and get to the end. We want to hear your reactions. To certain key things you learn about the band on the way and I think it's good that you actually do this before you go down the rabbit hole because you're going to watch those videos and listen to the lyrics from a whole Different POV understanding of the dynamic of the Band? As you see them move through the whole journey pardon the pun.

Professor of Rock is a channel I subscribed to years ago. It's fascinating to learn the back story behind a track or a band and does a great job in his research process.
Your channel is fun to watch in another aspect. Watching an honest reaction from someone unfamiliar with the genre and sharing your journey in music discovery is a trip of its own. Two different styles of channels. It is fun watching you learn from the professor as well.

You should try to interview the professor. He's had a ton of interviews on his channel. Can't hurt to ask. BTW his dad introduced him to music and he became 'that guy' in school who knew everything about the groups, the albums, and the songs. You need to check out his video on his father.

Been subscribed to Professor for a good while. Glad you found him and took a chance on doing a reaction like this.
I think one of the main differences between your story as a solo artist and that of a group of artists is having to deal with the dynamics of a group of individuals each with their own skills, talents and preferences. Jams are authentic. The fact that one artist doesn't get his way and gets upset about it doesn't make the group any less authentic. Keep keepin' it real 🤘❤

This was great, BP! I've been subbed to PoR for a while now and I love his channel. I've actually seen this episode already, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching it again, through the eyes of someone who's still in the early stages of their "journey" into classic rock music, artists, bands, etc. I don't have any objections at all, to you doing this type of longer form reaction again and wouldn't mind if you made it a regular thing on the channel... maybe a couple of times a month or something. Obviously, I don't know Adam (PoR) personally, but I get the impression from watching his videos that he wouldn't have a problem with you reacting to his content. He just seems like a pretty cool/chill dude. And you approached the reaction from a place of total respect and appreciation for the opportunity. There are also lots of great interviews out here on the interwebs with some of the greats (like Steve Perry *hint *hint) and I think that reacting to some of those would be awesome, too!!! So, yeah... I'd be totally cool with more content like this in the future! Stay blessed!

I have been watching videos by Adam Reader for almost 2 years. In short, the man KNOWS His shit. You will several videos of major artists he's interviewed and they where they say to his face "You know my history better than I do!"
But he was right in what he was saying Journey does not sound like anybody else. And they never did even before Steve Perry. But with the inclusion of Mr
Perry, they put themselves miles of most artists of the day.
Mainly it was because each band member in their own right was master of their instrument. And Steve Perry In several interviews He himself is his instrument as everything around him can affect his voice.
If you would care to do another reaction video about Journey from this time period, try to get use of the bands May 15, 1979 appearance on the Midnight Special: the acapella opening sequence, this version of L T S, and the live version of "(I'm A) Roadrunner".
These performances are part of the canon of what makes them absolute legends and why people "bought in" to the group.

If Journey sold out, I'm a buyer! That dude Dunbar is off his rocker, pun intended. If Dunbar is honest with himself these many years later, I think he would realize how infinitely wrong he was! In my world Journey will go down in history as one of the top bands to ever exist, at least in the top 50! The band changed to be successful because what they were doing wasn't working, and that's not selling out, it's progression, and experimentation to find a new sound that sells records, that is not selling out! And then came Steve Perry with his one of a kind voice, and song writing skills, and that's serendipity at it's best! 👍😎✌🗽
