But for real, Jared was an absolute dickhead to Lucas. They were (not sure if they still are) good friends, so I really don't know why he'd throw the poor guy under the bus. There was no reason whatsoever for him to make a full-blown callout video - they could've at LEAST talked it out first, but nope, Lucas lost an endorsement and even got death threats - but Lucas handled the accusations perfectly. Jared's now-private apology was so half-assed, and the follow-up DMs shown in Lucas's debunk video reeked of narcissism. "Don’t lie to ME. That hurts more than anything.” Gross.
The only fake thing here is Jared's personality. What a loser.

Lucas put up a video of him playing a guitar, except he clearly wasn't playing it, it was all background tracks (you hear the picking but Lucas is tapping in it). For whatever reason, you can't her Lucas Mann's guitar at all in that video. The whole thing was really weird, Lucas admitted it was weird but he just uploaded the video and didn't look too much into it and people kinda moved on...

To send your audience as an angry mob towards someone else without proof that they’re actually faking is the lowest you can go. It got Jared nowhere, it really damaged Lucas’s reputation, and it made them both bad, especially Jared, since he’d stoop so low to bother pointing it out
I may not listen to a lot of Rings of Saturn. But I gotta admit. Lucas is a brilliant guitar player and a really nice guy that isn't afraid to show those haters/elitists how wrong they are about his play style.
Herman and Sam are both brilliant as well. Always have been one of my favourite duo's in metal.

I have literally backed up Lucas when he took a break even messaging him and letting him know I'm a fan and he is a legend in my eye's. I love Lucas he is legit as a person and should be treated with respect just like anyone else should be
Good on you🤘 Before all this shit happened, we were chillin with him before a show and he was showing my guitarist how he plays some of his most gnarly riffs. No amp or anything. So I always knew it was BS. Also it trips me out that people (especially those involved with music and playing live gigs) don't know how backing tracks and a silent stage work in a smaller club setting. Depending on where you stand, all you may hear is a backing track. As soon as I saw that video I just laughed. It's just really shitty how people treated the guy, especially supposed friends whom are also musicians(wont say any names). They of all people should have understood what was going on in that video, but I think most of them were just being disingenuous and trying to get those precious drama clicks. Anyway, Im just glad the guy is back and doing what he loves.

4:30 Lucas did exactly that to me. His playing has encouraged me to practice more complicated techniques with efficiency, like sweeping, tapping, etc. I legit would not be the player I am today without Lucas so thank you Lucas for passing on the inspiration to me and many others 🙏🏻

There was more than just him, but he's the one who took it to another level for clicks. Out of everyone, you would think he would be the one to understand what was going on in that video and had his "friends" back. You would assume he would know what playing with backing tracks, on a silent stage, in a smaller club venue can do to the sound depending on where you're standing. I think Jared was just being disingenuous though. Those DM's he was sending was some disgusting and manipulative shit. I'm glad the issue is dead now and people have a better understanding. The best part is that Lucas is out there having fun again.

I remember I posted a video on RUclips of me and my friends playing a song. Everyone was commenting on how fat I was. It sucked. I was only 14 years old. That kind of stuff sticks with you for a long time. People online are real people! Be kind!

For every asshole like that, there are tons of others who see your talent and appreciate you for you. So just keep shredding and doing your thing. I learned about Lucas Mann (and Rings of Saturn) thru Jared Dines' videos. One of those, of course is the infamous calling out of Jared on Mann's "fake" playing. After watching all related videos to that debacle and the Among Us videos, I think I can say that Lucas is one talented, cool and humble dude. The usual feelings of amazement from these videos have suddenly turned into disgust as both of them discussed their share of haters. I mean, what type of confident bastard can come up to Herman and say that he's better than him? I am profoundly glad that you both persevered and didn't really waste your time on those vermins.

I've mainly only ever seen Lucas in videos shredding as well as a few other mini talking segments, I've always thought he seemed like a really nice guy but this interview showed me a whole other side. What a nice guy, crazy what he went through it just goes to show never judge someone and always be nice, because you never know what someone is dealing with.

Agreed. Dali isn't better than Picasso. Entirely different styles. Is Maiden better than Bach? To simply ask the question misses the point by a long shot. It directly translates to music as far as comparing art forms. I suck at bass like a toddler sucks at water colors. It's open to interpretation, but only to an extent. Pro photographer vs. someone with an iPhone. You can tell the difference, especially when people pay good money for one and not the other. Fascinating.

Rings Of Saturn is so sick live!! I saw them at a really small gig in Philly when they just released their second album, ‘Dingir’, and they were opening for Jungle Rot, Exhumed, and Suffocation. They friggin’ rocked the house AND they had a bassist playing with them at the time! I met Sean (the bassist), he was a really cool guy to talk to. Awesome stream, Herman!!

I really could hear the dragonforce type of sound with the new gidim instrumental song, where it's almost sounds like a stream of sound rather than individual notes. It brings a whole new meaning to crazy sounding guitar once you reach those levels, and I really appreciate that we could get back to that level with more than just dragonforce

His twitch bot says they have some proprietary software, my theorycrafting has that as a piece of software that synchronises the backing track on both of their machines by referencing an atomic clock somewhere (or some other constant). If the backing track is in sync, it wouldnt be hard for the players to play together

I've been play guitar for 20 years, I know what you guys are playing is being played, also people don't understand I technology it is used, including lag and which guitar their hearing and so on. I have seen you guys at venues where stage is one foot or two foot high so you're right up there in the front and any video I've recorded of your shows is obviously you and the band playing. If you look at Tosin Abasi, everybody was saying that he couldn't play that clean which obviously isn't the case either. The shit needs to stop with this. I seen other bands and I won't name them where it's obviously sampled over. I think you should repost this video again because the sort of stuff doesn't get better so I appreciate you putting something out like this. 🤘

This was awesome. Both guitar players should be admired for their skills and all the people accusing them faking their music... they're just so damn ridiculous. I don't know what the accusers were smoking :D But you know the words... haters gonna hate. Jealousy is and will always be a powerful feeling and also a powerful "asset" to let out their negative energies and unleash those on others.
Btw I love both bands, I've listened to lots of DF several years ago, but a few years ago the melodies (of DF, RoF, and mostly, Helloween melodies and riffs) just started repeating in my mind... which actually hindered me in my work :D I'm a translator and for some reason, the guitar and vocal melodies were always going on in my mind and I could barely work. So I had to give up on melodic music and that's when I found Infant Annhilator and then Rings of Saturn. RoS is what saved my job :D The riffs and the faster melodies are very catchy for my ears, but not so much that I can't work, so I'm really grateful.
Not to mention their lyrics, I totally feel what the songs are about - and I'm not talking about the "primer" lyrics about aliens but about the deeper layers about the devastation the humankind created in a blink of the eye and being a pain in the ass for the planet and the environment due to our destructive nature. These stuff kick ass and bringing in the aliens to solve the humankind-issue, it's epic.
So, thanks Herman and Lucas and all the other guys in the DF and RoS!

that story made me go "WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F" but i read some comment about a controversy and he responded that he can't publicly comment on it yet; i must admit i am glad that this is it. (i mean it is not like one of them being accused of raping or doing drugs or stealing songs... for the word controversy could have meant something to dislike the band for but in this case it is not!)

I personally can't believe how stupid some people are that they hear something like rings of saturn and how amazing every damn song is and they have to basically deny that it's real and try and outcast someone like Lucas Mann when they should want to be near him and learn and at the very least let him know how fucking mind blowing his playing is. Any other reaction is unacceptable. I remember being a kid and seeing people that are so good at there instrument was what made music so special to me, the mind set of seeing greatness and having to deny it and put it down is a disgusting horrible human trait and anyone who does that should be the ones ridiculed. How dare they have any affect on my favorite band. I'm super passed off cause I heard rings of saturn was playing in my tiny little town in oregon like 3 days after my birthday and I thought yeah right, like that would ever happen. Then I saw tickets for sale and I lost my shit! More stoked I could not have been. Then on show day I see Ian and Aaron and holy shit miles Dimitri baker (being a guitar player myself I have watched countless hours of miles and Lucas on RUclips and love every min) I can't belive I'm seeing this in my shithole town, but I keep looking for Lucas, finally I buy a round of beers and shots for the band so I can work my way into a conversation and hopefully an autograph on my many pieces of r.o.s. merch. I sadly find out Lucas won't be playing that night, I was bummed but hey I still get to see rings. It was epic show epic night and If those assholes that talk shit about Lucas was the reason I didn't get to see him that night then man they all owe me big time. Just thought I would share that. Anyways love what you do Mr. Mann I hope to see it live one day.
