I've seen this steak house on television for years and it looked good ... but after watching this upload didn't realize how much effort & hardwork it took to run this restaurant... I can't wait to go myself ! Thanks for sharing looking forward to your future videos !
I grew up in Shawnee, OK and worked at KOMA in the very early '80s. A Cattlemen's breakfast was something I would occasionally treat myself to after working the overnight show. I moved to New Orleans in '83, fell in love, got married in '84 and honeymooned in OKC with a visit to the state fair. Of course, I brought my bride to Cattlemen's and talked her into trying the lamb fries. 40 years later she still speaks fondly of the lamb fries. I'm way overdue for a visit back home to Oklahoma.
Until a few years ago it was run by 1 family. It wasn't a chain. I loved to go there. I'm not able to get around now but before it's my time I'm going 1 more time. Best steaks, the salad dressing is amazing, but you have to eat homemade rolls and their homemade pies. My favorite is the.lemon! Come on down to OKC and get the best!
I’m sold let’s get on a plane and head to cattleman’s steakhouse ❤ awesome video thanks for showing if ever im in Oklahoma I will definitely try the cattleman steakhouse
The Wife and I drove down to OKC for the weekend a few years back. Cattlemen's was on the menu. There was plenty to do in the area and lots of decent places to eat too.
Regarding the comment about pork chops: I used to go to Perry's Steakhouse in Houston for great steaks. After I tried their 7 finger porck chop, I never ordered a steak there again.
This place is beyond excellent. Reminds me of the old Fred Harvey restaurants that dotted the country 60 years ago. Food and service are terrific and the prices are very reasonable. If you go to OKC, do NOT pass up eating at Cattlemen's.
Wow What a tremendous and rich history! What is absolutely crazy is here in California we have at least 5 Cattleman's Steakhouse but they are different but food is very delicious they do not have that dressing but they have really good dressing they make there the normal ranch, blue cheese, thousand island ect. They do serve their salads in giant metal bowls and you can have as much as you like with as much ranch beans as you would like with sourdough bread. I have to try it out there someday!
Isn’t that funny? I have seen so many with the same name but unique stories for sure. Post the names of any places I should go and I will check them out!
@@historyatehere Yes it Is! I think you should definitely go to a Cattleman's here in northern California, the buildings are unique and built in the style of an old ranch house with wooden porches and stagecoaches with wagon wheels and pictures of the old frontier , huge metal bowls of the freshest salad which is all you can eat, and all the dinners are served a ranch style beans and those are all you can eat too with fresh sourdough bread.............Another place I have not been but I know that it was a favorite of Elvis Presley and want to go to" The Golden Steer" in Las Vegas. I also would love to go to 'The Big Texan Steak" where they have the 72 ounce Steak Challenge and the Boss Hog limo with the bull horns on them lol. Great Job man now this place is on my bucket list!
Just dine there few days ago after shopping here in California.. we love this place .

I've been here a few times, as a world traveler I can say it's one of the best places to eat in the usa
Best steaks, rolls and salad dressing I’ve ever had! Had lunch at the counter with an old OKC rancher…awesome experience!
I am so glad you had a great experience!

I've had the pleasure of eating here...twice in the 90s....loved it...
I have not been there since the mid 90's and I can still taste the rolls.

If you're in the Texas panhandle, go to the Cattle Exchange in Canadian, TX.
Any place that puts this much pride in beef is one I want to try.

Met The Wife in OKC while attending a class at the FAA academy. We had dinner there and she married me. It truly is a great restaurant.
Wonderful food! Every time someone from here goes to OKC I tell them about Cattleman's. They go and become believers.
