They don't follow up on Dumb Tom. A false confession is also a chargeable offense -- obstruction of justice, or something, but we get the impression they just let him go. Some kind of referral for psychological evaluation would have been appropriate, but then this was the Early Fifties...
That's the way it was then I especially remember the Old Gold ads with the dancing cigarette packs. Everyone I knew smoked. I'm 79 and still smoke. Very little but it's a tough habit to break.
That's part of the fun of listening to these old shows... To see what life was like then. I love the old sponsor ads. And they loved their cigarettes then. It's sad, but true.
Thank you for posting these episodes !!!!
remember this one from the previous stories listed here. Well, still an awesome radio show
Poor Tom ...He’s not so dumb ...he can grow great carnations 😎

Later adapted as the TV episode "The Big False Make" {May 27, 1954}.
Every episode seems to mention "Georgia street (?)" Hospital . I'm curious if this hospital existed or no longer does?

S. I. L. L. Y.
Is this file reconstructed from multiple sources? There are places where the audio sounds different.
Wonder if Webb dying from heart trouble had anything to do with the two packs a day cigarettes that he push for his sponsor 👹
He was also an alcoholic.
Several weird splices of dialogue in this episode.
