I personally think this is one of the very best singles Alison Moyet has released in her Solo Career.
This Indie Rock vibe in the song really suits her voice.
She is also looking BETTER than she has EVER looked in any of her Solo Music Videos.
'The Moyet' Rocks. Always has done, always will.
Not many(if any at all) female singers out there past and present as good as this woman..she's been nailing it for decades now ..what a great singer and artist. That sound is instantly recognisable.
SPOT ON!!!
Still absolutely brilliant live ❤🎉
When I Was Your Girl also features an intriguing video, starring Moyet’s own daughter. Walking along a pier, the singer eventually stands in the shadow of her daughter, occasionally gazing towards her. This adds a touch of sentimentality to the track and suggests that Moyet is reflecting on past times throughout the song.
Southend pier, where I live. Longest pier in the world.
It's actually the longest pleasure pier in the world at 1.1/3 miles long. I've walked it many times
Still beautiful and a vocal genius.....she's been moving my soul since the early 80s.
Love that voice since 1984.
Une bonne voix Alison!
Me too

I'm glad that there is so much love for Alison, her voice, her music. She deserves it.
I love her!
Me too its very cool👍✌⚘
This should have had WAY more credit given than it was.
Reminds me of student days in Southport going to my friends today in a bit
A humble Artist, strong vocals, always different. I love her.
What current singers will be around in 42 years singing even better than ever ? Just need to see her live in 2024 :)
Alison still has it,she was fab in the 80's and those eyes are to die for.Love this.
This is fantastic, I have grown up listening to Alison Moyet and her voice is consistently amazing !!! BIG FAN ! :-)
She's amazing, for 30 years, great Alison
This is amazing...her voice is magic.
Alison you are both stunning in looks and vocals, have been desperately in love for years…..
It's so sad how underrated she is! She is simply AMAZING! Wonderful unique strong vocals!
Alison moyet is without doubt the Best female singer in the uk, I'm so looking forward to the music she will have produced during lockdown , she just as good as live and let's hope this covid-19 will sod off and we can resume normal life, I would love to see her perform again
A phenomenal singer who remains timeless!
Still the best female voice on the planet. And given the quality of some of 'em (Adele, Paloma) that's saying something. Actually, prolly best voice, regardless of gender.
no.
I was going to post a comment on your answer but, for one of the 1st times in my life, realised it wouldn't be worth it.
Thank you for that.
What an amazing song! I loved it since I first heard it. I hope it becomes a hit in the USA, but I doubt it. I have shared this song with my friends and everyone loves it...I wish they started playing it on the radio! Miss Alison, you have fans in Louisville, Kentucky!!
I feel very, very proud that she comes from Essex. I remember her from the early 80's with Yazoo. She has come a long way, and always kept her talent and modesty. She did a spot on Graham Norton's chat show on BBC1 recently and she was brilliant; a classy lady.
Nice one mate. You should be proud of her. I’m Welsh and I am 🙏🏻
Heard this on the radio today and thought, 'That sounds like Alison Moyet!' Was thrilled when the DJ said it was her song from a new album. I'm soooo getting it. Loved her in the 80s!
Grown up with her in my life love her music and that voice amazing love you so much takes me back when I was young
The song is wonderful and the whole album is a sonic delight. More please Alison :-)
Alison since 1981, my inspiration to sing later in life, same kind of struggles, incredible woman! Great voice! Love her! Thnx Alison!! Love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 💕 🇬🇧

A first-rate outing by Alison, by far the most underrated British singer of the past 50 years.
Wow, my heart literally skipped a beat when she started singing. Did NOT expect that!
Alison Moyet is one of the most brilliant female artist
Wow 8 years ago . Really!! Fantastic voice . Been a fan of her since her early days. Brilliant Album too.
Hope Alison becomes well known to a new generation. Such a brilliant artist!
Fantastic song. Alison Moyet is just one of the greatest singers ever.
Beautiful song, beautiful mum and daughter! Love it.
Alison Moyet was the Adele of my generation.
Adele does not mean anything compared to her
@@alisonfernandez1172 fact
Alison - one L - is the real deal, but Adele, though undeniably good, is way too self-aware while singing, you can almost see her mentally high-five herself whenever she hits a top note.
Much better than adele
I have to disagree, Adele is the Alison Moyet of this generation
still play it every week, sometimes two or three times in one night
Trust me - men can bring the passion. But that artistry is something I always admired in Alison Moyet, and as you said, her way with making the most of lyrics.
Alison's new CD is fantastic. Deffo worth buying.
love her and every song she has ever done
Alison's voice brims with power and presence. Emotive . Great casting.
Alison looks and sounds terrific. Looks and fashion come and go, but that voice is for life.
this is such an affecting and great song what a storming return from Alison best album in years the top 5 and critically acclaimed the minutes
Wonderful Gift Alison Has Given Us All!!
Just saw her last night in Toronto. This song really stood out. Heard it last night for the first time, sounded incredible live!
great Alison! so happy to see you again!!! best time with your songs in '80!!!
This is an Alison Moyet classic and belongs right up there with some of her best known singles.x
This is such a beautiful song. I fell in love with Alison in 1982 and I have enjoyed every song that she has released both with Yazoo and solo.
She has always been as beautiful as her voice and her voice has always been incredible.
I believe that Kim Strasburg's comment below hits the nail on the head as to the meaning of the song. She uses her daughter in the video to contrast her youth and her older self.
Damn Alison Moyet - You are an Incredible Icon. Love your voice. Your Cd is a Must have on my list.
I'll see her for the very first time at the Royal Albert Hall on the 3rd of April with my father ( my present for him for Christmas ). Already sooo impatient and excited to see and hear this brilliant woman!
We'll travell from Belgium/Brussels, where we live.

for many generations, wonder if here daughter can repeat her mothers success. Keep it going Alison
So, so ,so, so fabulous. What a powerful melody and Alison's fantastic voice. Welcome back to the wonderful original Adele. This is brilliant.
Stunningly unique voice. Alyson Moyet is one of the most respected artists in the industry......the type that other artists go to see and are inspired by. A fantastic 'come back' single from a tremendous album.
Always loved her voice, Outstanding!!
New time, new age. Alison had fame in the 80's when I was a teenager and I understand today's teens who cannot relate to her. Does it really matter? She has talent and this is why she is still in the business today, and this is what matters!
I like this one a lot. Alison is still sounding great!
This has got such a mean bass line...especially noticeable during the short guitar solo...absolutely love it.
Her voice takes me WAY back to my younger days.
Another track I never knew about. Think I am going to buy her last two albums as all the songs from them are really good.
That voice. That BRILLIANT Voice!!
It's brilliant. A departure from her usual style.
Ladies, this is who you should be looking up to,an outstanding artist.
Sorry I missed your Birthday Yesterday you're still my girl
Awww, for some reason that touched my heart.
Absolutely wicked track. Welcome back Alison. Cant wait to hear the whole album. If anyone says she is not a talented song writer and singer think again.
Reminds me of my boarding school days in Bexhill! I loved what she did in Yazoo and her solo is great, too. Strong and emotional voice!
Nice to see the views picking up on this great song! Love Alison.
At last, one of the greatest icons of the 80:s is back.......and it sounds....great :-)

Welcome back Alison Moyet x The music industry needs great artists like yourself to offer an alternative to just commercial music sang by 18-23 year olds.
So, so, so unique in every way. Noone sings like her., she is one of a kind. Can't stop listening!!
Alison was and still is my favourite Female Artist and looks more beautiful now than she ever did. This Song is absolutely fantastic and sung with so much emotion and the fact that she includes her Daughter is so special. Simply wonderful.🖤

Cant Beat abit of Alison our Local Artist superb 🎹🎵🎹🎧
best female singer we ever had
Shot on Southend Pier. That's my home town as well as Alison's. The town was wonderful during my childhood in the 70's but went downhill when they tore the Kursaal fun park down.
The Kursaal appeared in the classic 60's series 'The Prisoner'. BCNU
southend did lose the appeal when that fun ride park came down but good memories too
Southend my home.
@Steve Mathews Alison Moyet came out of Basildon in Essex not Southend
Perfect music from a brilliant artist. Loved you in Belfast Alison. Please come back soon xx
