My english teacher used to play this song on an old tape player. He used all of his soul and emotion while singing and dancing it in class. He even used to draw circles on the blackboard to make us understand the deep meaning of the lyrics.I heard this song randomly on radio yesterday and this memory (which i didn't even know I had) came to my mind so spontaneously "like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind". I even remember his sad face as if he felt some kind of nostalgy while listening to this song. I can't explain why I commented this story. Sad memory but I'm glad I recalled it...
what is the secret of marriage well like paul newman its just being you and going home every night to the girl you love. im 35 years married love my wife more today. Can not really explain it. Its true love.
Steve was the perfect actor for the movie. In fact HE IS THE MOVIE... Pierce Brosnan make a remake at 90´s but he didn't have the cool charming of Steve MCqueen. Alison Moyet sings beautifully.
I don’t understand anything about this song or what this song is about
The original ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ , when Faye Dunaway was stunningly beautiful and Steve McQueen (RIP) was so handsome !! Classic remains classy even after decades.
Can you imagine being a woman around Steve mcqueen?? Knickers are at door 👌
I will always remember the eyes of my first love.❤❤❤I still love him. Even if he is dead for 33 years now.
Good smooth voice. An interesting alternative Harrison's. A slower tempo which makes the (otherwise rather short) song last longer (value for money). BUT-the change of lyrics............The new lyrics are good in their own right but if I'd created this finely crafted gem, I'd be jarred off with the "tampering". If it was just about the gender change (which isn't necessarily an issue these days anyway) then just change "her" to "his". Probably just me though.
Out of all the versions I've heard of this song Alison Moyet does the most moving rendition. She sings it nice and slow with the emotion of an artist who understands the emotional depth of the song. With the orchestra backing her she uses it as a back drop unveiling a rich tone of a chapter that reflects the movie it came from.
The amount of people commenting here who obviously haven't seen The Thomas Crown Affair. The footage is the obvious choice for this song.
When your happy you enjoy the music. When your sad you understand the lyrics.
Rarely does a song combine graceful acceptance of death and genuine passions for life so perfectly like this one. And this is my favorite version. Many thanks.
Such a beautiful version... the clarity in her voice is sublime!
Michel le grand and alison moyet means perfection
RIP M. Michel Legrand, a Great French Composer 💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
A wonderful composer,a sensitive lyricist, and a great singer produce this masterpiece of a song.Every time I hear it I just want to cry,,,,
Truly one of the most haunting songs and lyrics ever written. This is probably the best rendering. Very poetic.
Loved her voice since I was 16... I’m 51 and she doesn’t disappoint. She pairs Steve the man McQueen and Faye Dunaway footage is genius... visually beautiful and audio perfection 🤗❤️👍🍁🍂⏳⌛️🌊🚗
This musical performance makes me cry every time I see it. Like a sweet and long lost love we've never be able to see it again. Thank you for letting us see you.
Never fails to hit all my emotional soft spots.
