The Investigative Judgement PROVEN!? Did This Doctrine Originate With SDAs?

  • Is the IJ biblical? People like Allen Parr do not think so, attributing it to a SDA invented doctrine. Lets see if these claims are true, and if others before SDAs believed things similar.

Jay, the reason the investigative judgement is so hated is because it is a salvation message to prepare us for the final moments that God is using to turn our hearts to him. When we view the judgement in its right context we see a loving and merciful God finding every possible way to save His children. As pastor Myers said, what we do in life is what God is investigating and if we can see the Holy Spirit right in the center of it all, daily becking us and calling us to repentance so that God can have a reason to proclaim us just, we WILL indeed take up our cross daily and put self to death. This Sabbath my pastor spoke of the whole burnt offering and how we are to become like a whole burnt offering for God. There is no live offering, all had to die, even Christ. Satan already understands this and is preventing even those among us from coming to this understanding. Holy Spirit, please continue to intercede for us all

Amen, regardless of what others call the Sevwnth Day Adventist understanding of the Investigative Judgemwnt, her position very affirmative.. If Christian churches understand the Hebrew Sqncuary as shallows to the Christ ultimate mission as the Savior of the world than we would appreciate every other teaching after the Christian dispensation. We cannot guest anything out of the blue but within the blue print of the century services which prefigures the whole gospel and the plan of redemption found in Christ alone.

It has often been presented to me that there should be LESS SERMONIZING by MINISTERSs, acting merely as local pastors of churches, and that greater personal efforts should be put forth. Our people should not be made to think that they need to listen to a sermon every Sabbath. Many who listen frequently to sermons, even though the truth be presented in clear lines, LEARN BUT LITTLE. Often it would be more profitable if the Sabbath meetings were of the nature of a Bible-class study. 21 LtMs Lt 192

I am an Adventist in EU and I am studying for pastor, I have watched a lot of your videos and love them. I am very proud of you for standing up for Adventist faith in the face of critics.
While I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of Investigative Judgement. We see it throughout the Scripture as you pointed out in this video, however, the investigation is ALL the time, it starts with the Fall and ends with the Second Coming. There is no logical conclusion for 1844 to be the start of a Judgment, since God has judged and "investigated"; "searched" the world MANY times in Scripture. The historicist approach has its flaws and I think we as Adventist have made a mistake in using it for every single "time period" in Daniel, I would really love if I can be a guest or talk sometime in a brotherly manner and have an open discussion about those ideas with you.
Also, my main point of contention is this:
John in the final moments of his last vision, Revelation 21:22 "22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple." This goes to show that the Earthly sanctuary represents God/Jesus or the sacred space. It's needed here on Earth because we are in the "wilderness" of the sinful nature of Earth.
However, in heaven, there is no need of a temple (sacred space) because God IS sacred and heaven has not sinned.
The cleansing of the sanctuary in Daniel can only point out to the cleansing of the sin in other words Earth. That's what Yom Kippur represented, and WHEN the High Priest went into the tabernacle NOBODY could repent of their sins it's before that.
In the final analysis, we see that IF Jesus went into the Holiest of Hollies in 1844, nobody can repent of their sins anymore, and that's not what we teach, but that's what the High Priest entering the Most Holy place means!
I am a proud man and wouldn't want to stand against my own faith, but I have to be objective, and the Bible doesn't lead me to 1844 as the day of atonement.
On the contrary the Bible makes it VERY hard for us to believe that God would make a prophetic prediction for 1844, because that would mean, that we kinda "know" the day and the time when God returns, or at least we know that he WON'T return before 1844, and that's anti-Christian theological thinking. Jesus said that we don't know when was the day and time, and I think that He meant it.
What 2300 means is for us to understand in the future, in my honest opinion that's a prophetic time for the people in the end of time, it is LITERAL days, and they would point out to the end. Like a final countdown. That's why Daniel prophecies connect so much with Revelation, they point to the final moments of the Earth. I know you might not agree, but it's my humble opinion.

    • @thatnicekid04
      @thatnicekid04 2 месяца назад +5

The 2,300-day Prophecy is connected to the 70-Week Prophecy.
If the 70-Week Prophecy connects to the time of Jesus then the 70-Week Prophecy must be years starting in 457BC. If the 70-Week Prophecy is years starting in 457BC then the 2,300-day Prophecy is years starting in 457BC and ending in 1844.
The Bible is clear that something related to the Sanctuary is happening in 1844. The only Sanctuary standing was the Heavenly Sanctuary that Jesus is the High Priest of.
More evidence to consider is that Jesus said that the Abomination of Desolation would be after His time. The power that sets up the Abomination of Desolation is the same power that casts down the place of God's Sanctuary.
Compare Daniel 8:9-12 with Daniel 11:31-37. The Little Horn is the power that cast down the Sanctuary and sets up the Abomination of Desolation that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 24:15-16. Therefore Jesus was speaking of a future event.
As an Adventist, do you reject this crucial Biblical view of the church?
The Revelation 22 verse you quoted was on the New Earth. The was no need for the Sanctuary because the work of erasing sin was completed by then.

Question: was John Tillinghast also correct about the views he obviously would have held on the Sabbath/ Sunday issue and other SDA doctrines that some of his writings clearly would not agree with? Why not quote him about the other issues as well? There are many many more established and respected bible scholars, historians, theologians and researchers who've written contrary to John Tillinghast on the interpretations of this particular subject of the 2300 evenings, mornings on which he's being quoted.
The IJ is a man-made doctrine, created by Hiram Edson and ORL Crosier, to soften the impact and fallout of the great disappointment, which was the result of a false interpretation of Daniel 8:14. It is the only doctrine that have been birthed in a cornfield through a sky opening up vision. ORL Crosier eventually admitted that the IJ was not biblical and that it was a concoction of theological novices. William Miller himself rejected the submission of this alternative interpretation of the text. The majority of honest bible scholars in the SDA church knows quite well that this teaching cannot be authenticated supported by the bible without text twisting and theological gymnastics. You literally have to ignore contextual application of the scriptures in order for the doctrine to fit. The church over the years have invested great resources to find anything that can be twisted and manipulated to make this doctrine fit. The church will always have to do such, because the questions WILL NEVER GO AWAY. Hopefully, the church will come clean someday and tell the truth about the IJ, along with all the other dangerous untruths that have been masterminded by persons who were not skilled in solid biblical understanding.
Now to be fair to those who started the faith, I personally believe that their intentions might have been good, and they might have been genuine and faithful in their beliefs, just like all those Catholics and people from other faiths who really believed that what they believed was true, but with the increase of knowledge and understanding, SDAs should have rejected and moved on from this false teaching by now. We can bend it, twist it, ignore textual context, spin it, pad it, try to re-define it, ignore historical facts, ignore the everlasting Gospel of Christ all we want, AN UNTRUTH WILL NEVER BE THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL NEVER BE SUPPRESSED FOREVER.
THE INVESTIGATIVE JUDGEMENT IS AN ABSOLUTELY FALSE DOCTRINE, AND THE LEADERS AT THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF THE CHURCH AND THE WHITE ESTATE KNOWS THAT IT IS FALSE. One of the main pillars of a remnant people MUST BE FULL HONESTY, especially intellectual honesty.
Gentlemen, I in no way am questioning your honesty and integrity, because I believe you guys are genuinely doing what y'all think is right. Blessings...🙏

    ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭5‬:‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬
“If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood. And it is yet far more evident: for that after the similitude of Melchisedec there ariseth another priest, who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life.”

The fact that God investigated before giving judgment is proven in Genesis 3 . Here we see God investigating Adam and Eve’s sin before rendering judgement and states in verse 15 that the sacrifice of Jesus will provide hope for all humanity .
Genesis 3:8-15 KJV - And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

I think you are trying to say that there can't be an investigative judgement because the Great White Throne judgement is later. You aren't considering the context.
      1. Revelation 20:6 is the first resurrection. So, there are no righteous dead by Revelation 20:12. How are the righteous determined, dare I say judged, to be worthy of being part of the first resurrection in Revelation 20:6? That's the investigative judgement. When the time comes for Jesus to return, he looks at the book of life and sees the names of the redeemed there and they are judged worthy to be part of the first resurrection.
      2. Paul says the righteous will judge angels and the world.
      3. The Great White Throne is after the 1000 years.
      4. This is the sequence: A) Prior to the first resurrection there is a judgement to determine who will be among the redeemed when Jesus returns. B) During the 1000 years the righteous are able to review the books to understand why some people they thought would be in heaven are not and to prove to the righteous that God is just. C) The second resurrection happens, and the Great White Throne judgement happens. Now the wicked get to see the books, which prove that God is just in judging them as lost as the redeemed as righteous. D) All traces of sin are eradicated and a New Heave and New Earth is created and all pain, sorrow, etc cease forever.

@@thadofalltradesYour sequence is taken from SDA Doctrine. What does the Bible say specifically?
The High Priest goes to the MOST HOLY PLACE, immediately first and foremost, on the Day of Atonement.
The sequence, according to the Bible:
1: High Priest goes to The Most Holy Place and sprinkles blood on the Mercy Seat
2: The High Priest moves to the Holy Place to sprinkle blood on the Altar of Incense
3: The High Priest moves back to the Courtyard to pour blood on the Earth and put hands on the Scapegoat
      In Heaven Christ:
1: Cleansed our sins upon ascension (went to the Most Holy Place to sprinkle blood on the Mercy Seat)
2: Is in The Holy Place, at Altar of Incense and in the candlesticks, and at the table of shewbread, where He is interceding for us, working through His Church, and abiding in us through His body and blood. (Altar, candlesticks, table of Shewbread)
3: He will pour His wrath on this Earth, (bowls of blood being poured on the Earth- the 7 last bowls) and will come to judge the living and the dead.
      Now the SDA Sequence:
1: Christ ascends to heaven where He goes to the Holy Place first, and performs ministrations
2: in 1844 He moves to the Most Holy Place to perform the cleansing of sin, (The Investigative Judgement) where He is now.
3: He comes again, where Satan becomes the scapegoat.

The 2300 days are literal days because the Bible uses the words "evening mornings", which means literal days.
The Angel told Daniel, the 2300 days refers to the time of the end, therefore, the 2300 days could not have began in the century of 400 BC.
The Holy one asked how long is the time frame, specifically speaking of the Antichrist and the taking away of the daily sacrifices. Therefore, the 2300 days is the timeframe of when the Antichrist is revealed, the daily sacrifices are taken away.
The Cleansing of the Sanctuary, in this context is not referring to The Day of Atonement in heaven, because it refers to the time of the end. In this context, The Cleansing of the Sanctuary refers to the wheat and tares being separated, in the end times.
God blots out our sins, through the Holy Eucharist, which Jesus said, His blodd is for the cleansing of our sins. Therefore, our sins are being cleansed on a daily basis "daily sacrifices", when we partake of the Eucharist, as He commanded, until He comes again. That is what Jesus meant when He said His Blood is the New Covenant. Through His blood, in the Eucharist, is the means that He abides in us and cleanses us from our daily sins, until He comes again.

ADL, I'm telling you in sincerity and love, brethren, you and EGW Have gotten the sequence wrong. I've told you at least two other times, and you did not answer my question.
On the Day of Atonement, the High Priest went first and foremost into the Most Holy Place to Cleanse by sprinkling blood on the Mercy Seat. THEN, the High Priest would go into the holy place and make Atonement in the holy place. THEN, he would go back out into the courtyard.
The Bible teaches, Jesus, as our High Priest, went into the Most Holy Place first and foremost to Cleanse us from sin, upon His Ascension. This is what the Bible teaches. Christ already cleansed us from sin, by the time John has the vision in Revelation.
Now, Christ is interceding for us, in the holy place, which is where the altar of incense is.
According to the SDA Doctrine, the sequence is reversed. EGW Says Jesus went into the holy place first, and THEN, in 1844, He went into the Most Holy Place.
This is a reversal of the sequence

**The Human Will and Divine Judgment: A Perspective**
The concept of human free will is a cornerstone of Protestant theology. Within this framework, the individual is granted the agency to choose whether to follow Christ or to reject His love. This decision is not trivial, for it is the very essence of our earthly existence-a decision that shapes our eternal destiny.
Jesus' Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23) underscores the significance of human receptivity. The seed, representing the word of God, is sown indiscriminately, but its growth is determined by the condition of the soil-symbolic of the human heart. Just as some seeds fall on rocky ground and fail to take root, so too do some souls resist the transformative power of the gospel. The parable implicitly teaches that the soil, or the human heart, must be prepared, cultivated, and ready to receive divine truth for it to bear fruit.
The motif of stones in the Bible further elucidates this idea. Christ is described as the cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20), upon which the church is built. The church, composed of believers, is metaphorically depicted as "living stones" (1 Peter 2:5), each one shaped and fitted into place within the spiritual edifice. This imagery is reminiscent of the construction of Solomon's Temple, where the stones were meticulously hewn and prepared before being brought to the site (1 Kings 6:7). The analogy here suggests that human character must be formed and perfected before one can take their place in God's eternal kingdom.
In the New Testament, particularly in Ephesians 2:19-22, the heavenly sanctuary is portrayed as being built from the saved members of humanity. These "living stones" are not merely passive recipients of salvation but active participants in the divine plan. This process of sanctification-of being shaped, tested, and refined-is central to the Christian experience.
The concept of judgment, as discussed in Scripture, does not necessarily preclude the possibility that this judgment involves human participation. Indeed, humans are called to discern, to choose, and to take a stand. The judgment before Christ's return, often referred to as the Investigative Judgment, can be viewed as a period wherein each individual must decide which side they stand on-whether they align themselves with Christ or with the forces of darkness. The parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-13) and the separation of the sheep from the goats (Matthew 25:31-46) illustrate the stark reality of this choice.
The significance of 1844 in Adventist eschatology, often associated with the beginning of the Investigative Judgment, marks a pivotal moment in human history. From this point onward, humanity has been living in a time of decision, a period in which the final verdict of each soul is being determined. As Ellen G. White linked Daniel 8:14 ("Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed") with Malachi 3:1-3, which speaks of the Lord's coming to His temple and purifying the sons of Levi, we understand that this is a time of purification and decision. It is a time when the worthiness of God and Christ is being acknowledged and upheld by the faithful.
To suggest that humans play a role in this judgment is not to diminish the sovereignty of God, but rather to emphasize the responsibility placed upon each soul. Christ's atoning sacrifice, His infinite selflessness demonstrated on the cross, is the foundation upon which all judgment rests. Yet, the end times herald a final decision-humanity must choose, once and for all, whether to accept this divine gift or to reject it.
      **Ramifications of This Perspective**
This interpretation of the Investigative Judgment shifts the focus from a purely divine decree to a collaborative process, where human free will is integral to the outcome. It emphasizes the necessity of personal responsibility and the ongoing process of sanctification. The ramifications of this view are profound, as it underscores the urgency of the present time. The year 1844 is not merely a historical marker but a call to action, urging every individual to make their decision while there is still time.
By understanding judgment as a cooperative endeavor between God and humanity, this perspective also encourages a deeper engagement with one's faith. It calls believers to actively participate in their spiritual formation, recognizing that their choices have eternal consequences. Moreover, it affirms the importance of Christ's role as both Savior and Judge, whose selfless sacrifice demands a response from every soul.
In summary, this perspective on the Investigative Judgment highlights the interplay between divine sovereignty and human agency, urging believers to recognize the critical importance of their decisions in these last days.

The IJ teaches that Jesus searches our hearts to see if we are worthy of His cleansing blood. It DOES NOT teach that He searches, so that we can repent. With the IJ, There IS NO REPENTANCE, only judgement whether or not you are worthy

Dr Desmond Ford , was a friend of family. I believe he has a more balanced view on this topic. I'm adventist but don't believe in investigative judgement. I believe there's sanctification process but I think it's a vulnerable dogma.

I find Dr Ford’s understanding to be confusing. What is his soteriology? It’s a weird mix of OSAS, Calvinism, and Arminianism. Most Adventists are Arminians. The more I learn the more I lean toward Reformed Arminianism.
Arminianism logically leads to an IJ of some type.
So basically, many of us are asking the wrong questions because we don’t know the starting point. First one needs to clarify their understanding of salvation.
      Blessings.

Most of the misunderstanding around the IJ is the issue of atonement. The claim is that somehow the IJ detracts from Christ's work on the cross. That is just simply not true.

ADL, you are not completely honest about the Investigative Judgement? You make it sound or place emphasis that it's about God searching our hearts, when it's deeper than that, whether you know it and are trying to deceive, or you don't know, I'm not sure.
The Investigative Judgement has to do with the Day of Atonement. When the High Priest went into the Most Holy Place, to sprinkle the blood on the Mercy Seat. This action signified the Cleansing of ALL sins of the congregation of Israel. Whereas, the Daily Sacrifices were for the forgiveness of sins, but NOT the cleansing. The Cleansing ONLY happened on The Day of Atonement.
The Investigative Judgement began in 1844, When Jesus, as our High Priest in Heaven went into the Most Holy Place to begin the CLEANSING of Sin, as in the Day of Atonement, According to this SDA Doctrine. This is when Christ searches our hearts and those who truly love Him and obey His Commandments are found to be Cleansed by His blood, in the Most Holy Place. This is the reason it's called the Investigative Judgement. Christ is investing us, in the Most Holy Place and placing a judgement whether those who claim to love Him are true or not.
This IS the big lie. Revelation says, when Jesus ascended into heaven, our sins were cleansed. All throughout the new testament it states, our sins were "cleansed" by the Blood of the Lamb, when Jesus died, resurrected and ascended into heaven.
I ask again, have you no fear of the Lord by teaching this false doctrine? You will be held accountable. Repent, while there's still time

@@smangelenondonga1241 When you make assumptions about people who you don’t know you make an ass of yourself. It’s not about a different belief; it’s about being your own God and being in rebellion to God. Christians are humans who have submitted their will to God. That’s the bottom line. Christians have slightly different views on peripheral issues but they are united on the core issues of the Christian faith. Humans are hopelessly lost as narcissistic self absorbed beings who have a sin problem. Jesus died, was buried, rose from a tomb, appeared to his disciples, and many more, and ascended to His Father.
You can embrace Christianity by choice, but you will not because you like sinning. Humans choose to sin and they like to sin.
