A beach house in Rodanthe on the North Carolina Outer Banks collapsed into the ocean. It's the second house to collapse in a matter of hours.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore said no one was inside either of the homes.

I agree. We just got back from Roadanthe before the storm hit. We saw this house and thought “Why would anybody build so close to the ocean shore…. STUPID AND UNBELIEVABLE 😔
@@samburleson4575 You do realize that when it was built, it was farther away from the ocean. What you should be amazed about is that the insurance companies will not pay to remove a house like this UNTIL it falls down....if it has insurance at all.
there is a very wealthy community in my county called La Jolla. as erotion has eaten away at the cliffs next to the ocean, homeowners cant get insurance or mortgages for houses right next to the ocean. they must purchase all cash. and they must demolish the house before erotion collapses the cliff enough to bring down their houses into the ocean or else then they are also fined for pollution. but those houses keep selling regardless.
For the wealthy, it’s just a little tax on being able to live there.

As a native NCer, I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. We've had our delicate environment destroyed by real estate developers and hungry tourists from the Northeast coming in to wreck the place. Let the sea swallow them all.
Kind of sick at the same time to wish someone's house destroyed. Maybe you are no better than the developers?
As a "hungry" person from the Northeast who has visited the Outer Banks twice a year for thirty plus years, and who has never done anything that would be deemed offensive, I can't not take offense at this comment. Hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars have been poured into your economy. Perhaps your anger is better directed at your local planning boards and local government who approved the development that you seem to so despise?
@@timconklin1741 Them too. But primarily toward the over-development of the Outer Banks which is a direct result of the demand from out of state tourists.
@@genemcn3579 Odd argument you present. That tourist demand was met by your local officials approving all the development that ultimately met that demand. So you live in paradise, don't want to share paradise, are upset with people who want to visit paradise, but direct your anger at those who don't control the development that fed the tourist demand. Makes sense to me.

The most distinctive feature I remember driving thru the Outter Banks was how most of the houses flew Confederate Flags.
