  • The house at 23228 East Point Drive in Rodanthe collapsed into the Atlantic Ocean from pounding surf and wind around noon Monday. The house collapse is just about a mile north from Ocean Drive, the site of several collapses last year in the Outer Banks. Two collapsed on the same day back in May. It's another example of how beach nourishment is essential for Rodanthe, and how it is greatly lacking.

We stayed here two years ago. The houses are right on the water with waves that crash into them during the tide. My rental house shook a few times. It is not safe to stay on a house with waves like this. Surfing waves here.

Build a house on sand, that is a few yards away from the ocean and wait for a storm. What could go wrong?

You don't have to have been in the Navy to know building a house on the beach like these homes here is simply stupid.
