The house across the road became beach front property overnight.
Up goes the property tax.
I don’t know why people are so surprised of the houses falling, if you not maintaining them and the foundation are wooden all rotted what would you expect?!

The house that is still standing at time 1:50 was built in 1989 and most recently sold in November 2021 for $675,000. I'm guessing that house will soon be swallowed into the ocean as well. But, yes the shoreline was quite different 35 years ago.
If they do build ,build it where it will float.
What about the debris that washed out?
Islands are not permanent… if you build on a island this eventually will be the outcome. Taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for the owners loss..

How much are those homes worth
Errosion has always been a problem in Rodanthe for decades, beach has come and gone. These stories i know from family members who have lived there all their life. Dating back to the 1900's.

no taxpayer dollars on this. i insurance companies should not insure them, and the homeowners should be responsible for the bill to clean this up

I never understood the attraction of east coast beaches. the beach and water look pretty damn ugly to me, especially when you consider all those crappy ass shacks built all along the waterfront.
Why would somebody want to put their home right there basically in the oceans way being that climate change is real I don't understand okay yeah you got the money to be able to do that but you also got a lot to lose!!!
