I remember seeing this flick when it first showed in the theaters in 1963. Love the air photography and the Merlin egines! One question. As the aircraft arrive over the airfield at 4:11, the first element of three break left for a left-hand pattern; at 4:17 the next element breaks for a right-hand pattern. Ooops! Can we envision both elements turning into each other on final? :-) Again, a great flick for the day when it was made. Still watch it!
My dad did all the radio stuff on those brilliant planes, brings a tear to my eye every time I hear the theme. He was a true hero.
I grew up in the UK watching this movie & enjoying the theme music with its bold trumpets. Live in the US & still brings back memories
One of my all-time favourite films, mainly because of THAT theme music! Gotta love Ron Goodwin!
This was favourite family film for years. Whenever it was on we would all gather round. Bizarre.

Those engines are Rolls Royce Merlins. One of the greatest piston aero engines
