Very useful video. Kimberly Crick considered Rosa Gallery's PR122 as the best among professional brands closely followed by White Nights. It is a truly lovely colour. I love the Flame red PO73 and my heart was long ago taken by Golden yellow PY110. I love the duochrome nature of this yellow. Rosa seems to be still struggling with what White Nights did till recently : bad earth colours. White Nights' earths were almost universally panned but now they have reformulated these. I have their Burnt Umber which is quite fine
I just received my order today from Jackson's and I was sent 2 magenta rose. I thought they made a mistake until I looked at my order on line. Nope! I was the one that made the mistake! But it was a mistake I don't mind. I'll share it with my friends and at my watercolor class. I have about 12 tubes still coming from Ukraine and I can't wait to see them all!
I had one of the little Rosa palettes, then I found a larger palette of lightly used colours on eBay and had just gotten a few extra colours from online shops in the UK when Jackson's suddenly started stocking them! I love all the colours I have and having them easily available now is great (I normally buy my art supplies come from Jackson's). I find they fit really well into the flat Jackson's palettes that you reviewed a while ago (the ones with the plastic insert). They take 33 of the Rosa pans with just enough wiggle room to swap them around or replace them.
this was so fun to watch! Great swatches and written commentary along the way! I am able to get Rosa Gallery here in the US and the swatches are exactly how they look and behave on paper, beautifully vibrant. Hope they build out more earth tones in the future. Thank you! Agree on the suggestion to get a set and enjoy the pretty tin too! Love that you were gifted the romantic set!
Please note that Rosa Gallery is a professional paint; there is also a student level, Rosa Studio. One pan of Rosa Gallery in Ukraine costs about one dollar, so these paints are cheaper than you think. However, the manufacturer is working hard with them.
I love my Rosa Gallery pans. I have them intersperced between all my other pro paints (Daniel Smith etc.) in my pallets and they fit right in. I really like the new colours. My local store Deserres carries them. For the price of a coffee, I can indulge my watercolour addiction.
I love your swatches! The whole process calms me down=) I have quite a few Rosa pans, they are so cute! But I have swatched maybe two or three colours.I love Flame Red, it is such a wonderful shade. Thank you for an inspiration, maybe it is finally time to do swatches =3
Hello from Ukraine, i do paint with this pains more than a year, i got almost all collection because fell in love with watercolor, i do think they are amazing+lightfast, my test on lightfastness is ending soon, and they do act very good. There are some pigments which can fade, you can change them with another color ( did so), and they can migrate, if you are in wet and warm climate there can be issues, like my indanthrone blue migrated in the pan. I heard Sennelier paints do the same.
@@OneTrueWord1988 i have RUclips channel here, but its in Ukrainian language, anyway i will share my 1 year lightfast tests, hope those will help people to chose right colours and pigments, need to scan those. Sending 💓)
I got the classic set of 28 after someone recommended them, and I was so impressed that I also got 10 ml tubes of those that I knew I would be using most often. I love painting with them, they rewet beautifully and have a wonderful collection of everything you could wish for other than maybe a cool yellow option that's not cadmium, but I love the cadmium lemon so I don't care, and Prussian Blue which I love. I am also hoping that in the future they will introduce a PBk7 so that people can mix their own Payne's Greys and Olive Greens. In Germany, I bought the 10 ml tubes for 3 Euros (they were even down to 2.6 on Black Friday... damn). Honestly, I don't see why anyone should complain. I just wish they were available in stores as well. To me, the only colors I genuinely didn't like were raw umber (I still end up using it every so often, but I won't buy it again when it's finished) and the raw sienna (again, I do use it, but I wouldn't buy it again).
This will do me in for sure. Love the link to the color chart. So easy to pick out the granulating colors. Have a pan of English Red coming from Etsy. Just got 6 tubes of the new ones direct from Ukraine. Definitely more expensive but feel like I'm helping support the local economy. Using your most helpful video to make a list of the ones I need to order. Granulation on the Chrome Green Oxide is insane. Now which manufacturer in my stash has to go. Tried the Super Thanks. Can't get it to come up.

I would like some Roman Szmal paints the look absolutely beautiful. But the inly store that does them in the UK is Jacksons. Also they cost about twice as much as Rosa paints in Jasons. Thank you.
imo, Rosa is absolutely beautiful. if i only had to choose from RS and rosa, i would buy rosa for the majority of my palette. so like the PR122, PV19, PY150, PG7, even the cobalts like PB36, PB28 are all good. beautiful granulation. the only colours that i would choose to buy from roman szmal would be earth colours. u might like rosa earth colours but i just prefer roman szmal earths better. hope that helps :)
I didn't know about Rosa, really glad for your video! What a wonderful gift - that Romantic set in particular is appealing and anything in a tin automatically makes me happy :) Is the tray removable or it bolted in to the tin?
They look nice. But they are about the same price as the White Nights where I live, so I'm gonna stick with my WN for now. Their new paints also have better earth tones, so no point buying Rosa. Maybe some time in the future I'll give them a try.
lucky! i can't get white nights at all because thailand no longer imports things from russia and websites i buy art supply from also no longer stock white nights
@@PaintinHiding Wow, thats really stupid. Luckily so far we still have them here in Germany. Does Thailand also not import chinese products? Because last time I checked, China was also doing lots of bad stuff (forced labor, child labor, putting prisoners in labor camps, killing people who don't agree with the government, etc). But I guess they would have to invade Taiwan for other countries to boycott them, eh? Talk about double standards...
I wish I could use aureolin in my paintings, but sadly it's such a fugitive color. Don't understand why all the brands sell it as a lightfast pigment. The colors and pigments used in Rosa look extremely similar to White Nights, could it be that the paint comes from the same manufactury? But glad there are more affordable artists paints now, the more the better.
