    Coming from 3.5 D&D's Skill ranks, into White Wolf RPG's and Dark Heresy/40k RPGs, the point-buy side of Anima was a fairly natural transition as someone from that Era of RPG's. My group still plays Anima to this day because we love the customization and the ability to find unique play-styles, even fifteen years later we're finding new characters. It's great! 👍

      Same i felt more like there is many system but all of them are quite simple...
      the problem for me as a player and GM was more than the system was going a bit too hard in the high fantasy direction and score where soaring a bit too hard too fast... by level 3 its was quite easy to reach the limit of human skill with like 200+ in a single skill thus absolutely destroying any check of your lelvel which also broke the game more often than not.
      Also you are playing super heroes most monster for low level character are push over and barely mount any level (for even slightly optimised character) of threat except if you push the number above what is given.
      Also the univers story feel very discordant, on one side magic and supernatural are like everywhere, ointhe other side every organisation try to control exploit or outright destroy it...
      Such high aggressiona gainst all that is "special" make it feel like your playing warhammer but in an supe rhigh fantasy world with super heroes...
      still as a sandbox system and with a few limitation put byt he GM its a super fun system that allow to mix almost anything.

    I took that emo class, took a couple major disadvantages such as not speaking major phobia of blood that makes him go crazy and mixed it with the darkness book (forget it’s name) , and the martial arts book (again it’s been a long time) but I accidentally made this auto criting mad man because of his ocular (eyes) powers who’s attack was making pillars of darkness pop out of whatever part of the body he chose. This was level 1. It took me months of reading to figure the build out.

    Is a great system if you design your character around one or two concepts. You simply ignore the rest. Magic users aren't necessarily going into melee, unless they're a warlock... Then, a weapon master isn't going to dabble in summoning except maybe to have enough skill to banish...

    Still play it, and is still one of the systems that are in my groups campaign rotation. On note of CP... If you want to play a mage, get The Gift; it allows you to cast magic. Play either warlock if you want to fight and illusionist if you want skills. It is not worth grabbing wizard, other than just filling a niche RP style. For playing a Ki user, at the very least grab Total Accumulation, it's borderline needed to play the archetype because otherwise you only accumulate half of what you should if you perform any active actions, very brutal, choose Tao if you want to do martial arts, otherwise use Technician, you'll need the MK. Psychics should just play the psychic archetype and you'll need the psychic inclination CP advantage, do not bother with this class unless you have a 10 in willpower, and your goal is to get your willpower as high as possible as fast as possible. Freelancers and prowler archetypes make the best skill monkeys. Imo weaponmaster is the most noobie friendly class, since DP expendature is straightforward and the whole shtick of the class is that they get half off on all weapon and combat modules, which modify the core mechanics to combat to be more in your favor, so you'll learn to have a solid understanding of mechanics, because you'll want to remind the DM about the better mechanics that you spent DP for combat modules for.

    No lie given i played this for several games now. ((The madness was already in before i was introduced.)) Once you get past it, its easier to make another character... Also more madness the creator is working to making a second edition once they release the game they been working on...

    My first Anima character is a magic one (... Who also have a "negative feats" aka myopia because he's the schoolar of the group, not the one looking) and it's fun to play. Especially more since you pick the type of magic and then have all the spells up to your points in it

    i think when you are trying to get into a new system, you have to make a balance between flexibility and simplicity in rules
    Anima does not have a balance, it's way too many stuff to keep track off, and for that it's better just play a videogame

    • @OptionalRules

      You're completely wrong about block. Dodge is the superior defensive ability and you should never purchase both. If you are successful on either defensive ability you take no damage unless you are blocking unarmed for some reason.

    • @magnusgallent1189
      @magnusgallent1189 Год назад +2

      I really don't know why you're making a video about this because you're wrong about MA completely as there is clearly a chart that determines what your MA is in relation to your Power stat not the bonus for the stat.

      Almost every ‘tutorial’ for Anima on RUclips is completely useless. It’s impressive that so many people feel the need to make content for a game they don’t play or know anything about.
