The movie starts in November of 1975. Meaning on January 1st it will be 1976. The bicentennial. I remember so many products using that angle in the late 70's.
@@movieswithmom in the movie's novelisation it explains why apollo wanted a fight on January 1st, he figured with 1976 being the bicentennial year for America there was going to be big events throughout the year (especially in Philadelphia) and he wanted to get his big event in first before anyone else did.

In 1976 we celebrated our 200th Birthday for the whole year. It was called the Bicentennial celebration. We even had special quarters printed/stamped up that year. That's why Creed was dressed as George Washington. That is how Stallone got the idea for the movie, he watched Ali beat some bad boxer and placed this story line with that event. PRESTO. Edit, I don't think he pushed her into a corner, he knew she was shy and awkward and he had to overcome that or else she would have been an old maid forever, her brother made her feel like a loser.
Quarters, half-dollars, and dollar coins were all special for the bicentennial. And they were minted for two years -- the 1975 and 1976 coins all had "1776-1976" on them. So technically there were no 1975 quarters halves or dollars.
The "bad" boxer in question was Chuck Wepner. He was by no means a bad boxer but he was not particularly notable and he was seen as just a stepping stone. But Wepner went toe to toe with Ali, despite being thoroughly outboxed, only to lose in the final round with just seconds remaining. It was Wepner's tenacity that served as the inspiration for Rocky's perseverance against Creed.
I think what makes the apartment scene with him and Adrian work, is the fact that we have already established through the beginning of the movie that Rocky is a good guy. He picks a bum up off the street bring them inside he walks little Marie to her house, he doesn’t break the guys thumb, all these things lead you to believe the Rocky is a good guy, so he wouldn’t do anything bad to Adrian
Impressive he wrote the story and held out to be the starring actor. No need to overthink the scene. The dance was respectful. He sensed her shyness without objections. Someone has to be an initiator otherwise no one gets together anymore. Also, Pauly is family. He is the awkward uncle that really messes up all the time. He is family though. She solved the issue by moving out. There is always a time in family when it is time to spread your wings.
Sometimes in films, there’s a mirror character who represents a negative situation the main character would have wound up in if the main character fails. Pauli absolutely fits that.
I always pictured the "creepy" old man Marley in Home Alone to be a reflection of what Kevin could have become if he didn't accepted his family through his childhood.
Interesting concept. Good reaction. To me, the meat of the episode is the dark night of the soul that Rocky has before the fight, when he realizes he can't beat Apollo. So he changes the terms of the contest - he cant win - so he changes his goal to just take it. To prove "He's not just some bum from the neighborhood" ... His victory was to finish the fight on his feet.
So glad you liked the movie! It is at heart a love story. Regarding the apartment scene, I think it is important to treat Adrienne as the 30 year old woman that her character is and to not view her as a teenage waif in need of protection. In my opinion, Rocky - despite his physical size - is in no way a threatening character. They were lucky to find each other.
I like to point out that Adrienne, although physically a 30-year-old woman, but mentally still like a teenager in dealing with an intimate relationship.
The apartment scene is only contentious in the 2020's. Twitter would encourage her to sue for sexual harassment for sure!! - But it's innocent, respectful and was a great way for a shy girl to come out of her shell and an extrovert boxer to get together with his crush... and two people to fall in love.
@@dpax2195 Nah, it was an innocent moment between two adults who knew more or less not to make a bigger deal of it than it actually was. It's something people today could learn from. She needed him to be persistent and break her out of her shell, but he also knew how to ease her into it. If she really didn't want it to get that far she would've made a bigger fuss over it and he definitely wouldn't have continued on with his advances.
Even today, nothing has changed. Lawyers actually dissected the scene and nothing even questionable happened. I can't find the RUclips video anymore, but I remember that the guy said there's nothing illegal about him blocking the door unless she asks him to let her out and he doesn't. And saying he wants to kiss her is implied consent if he gives her time to say no and she doesn't. Basically, if you think that Adrian was a victim, you're saying she's not a competent adult.
Nice reaction to my favorite movie of all time. You will not be disappointed if you do Rocky II right away, it picks up immediately where this one ends and you get to see a whole lot more growth of Rocky and Adrian's relationship. Plus it has one of the most thrilling movie endings ever.
Loved the reaction. It's a classic I hate to say because I grew up watching this movie. Lol. You won't be disappointed with Rocky 2. Keep up the great work!
I appreciated the honesty. Too many people are satisfied with a shallow, one-sided understanding of this. It's good for people to leave their comfort zone, but it's wrong to hurt people against their will. These two facts exist in opposition and it's our job as friends, family, and lovers to strike that balance such that our loved ones can flourish and grow into better people.
Referencing the first Rocky apartment scene and your comment that she knows what he wants to do to her. He didn't want to do anything to her, he wanted to share something with her, there's a difference.
For every character, a similar arch: Am I a loser? Am I a bum? Is this all I am? What am I worth? All of them deal with it differently. Fantastic movie and great reaction to it.
Rocky’s first run when he got cramps actually reminded me of when I first started boxing. I used to just lift weights and didn’t have much stamina. Then my coach told me to put down the weights and when I went on my first long run I felt like Rocky there with the cramps. Then after a while of running I built up stamina and felt like Rocky running up the stairs in the montage.
New subscriber, great reaction! Modern filmmakers overuse the close-up and jump cutting, to the point that anybody under 40 probably thinks that's how movies should be made. There's about a hundred years behind saying that's not the case, and Rocky is a great example of wonderful directing that composes each shot and lets us know where we are and what's going on in the background, not just what is in the main character's eyes, which in older films, you will find something very rich as opposed to some modern films in which a close-up of a face is just the blank recitation of lines.
If the scenes before the apartment scene did not show Rocky's empathy and his overall good nature, that apartment scene would have had a different tone. 1976 was America's birthday but you probably figured that out. Also, I like how they gave Paulie additional backstory by just showing his military picture on the dresser. It seems he had intentions of a future but it just didn't go his way.
I first watched this movie when it came out in theaters in the 70's (The one screen per theater type). However, as I have watched it over the years, I have always learned something new each time. This time, I've learned that Pauley is a Navy veteran. In his and Adrian's house, there is a low hutch along the wall, between the living room and the kitchen. On top of that hutch sits a picture of Pauley wearing a Naval Class-A uniform.
Basics of boxing: You can punch your opponent with a closed fist, no open hand strikes or strikes of any kind other than the gloves fist Can’t hit behind the front of a person like the back or the back of the head Win rounds through effective aggressiveness, punches landed, and ring generalship Winner of a round wins 10 points the loser gets 9 points automatically (perfect score is 120 points after 12 rounds) If you get knocked down to the ground you lose the round and you lose an additional point so you have 8 points to your opponents 10 Highest score wins if your opponent doesn’t get Knocked out or knocked down and doesn’t make it to the 10 count (not a ten second count btw) Ask any questions
I really loved your reaction. I think sometimes reactioners feel like they need to talk excessively throughout the whole film. But i feel like you have a nice balance and commented when it was appropriate. I look forward to seeing you react to more films.
It's also funny that for 30+ years no one ever said a word about the apartment scene. Any sort of an aggressive move now is seen as toxic masculinity. No one said a word, male or female, no groups, no protests after it won the Oscar. Not a peep. People understood the context.
100% agree. Until I watched reactors, I never in my life heard anyone say anything about the apartment. Times must have really changed. I'm a child of the 70s and middle-aged now, but i'm one of those fortunate men who's had an easy life when it comes to women. From this experience, I can offer this: there is a subtle, subconscious back-and-forth (mating) dance at play, for lack of better words. From a guy point of view, here is dance in the movie: 1.rocky asks her out at the store 2.she says doesnt say anything (but...DOESNT SAY NO) - yellow light = try again later 3.rocky asks her out again at the store 4.she doesnt say anything, BUT when he leaves say "good night, Rocky." - yellow light = try again later...but the dance is in motion...she escalated slightly 5.he asks Paulie about his sister ... She clearly is not so bothered by rockie that she complains to paulie - yellow light 6.goes to her house, asks her out = she gets dressed up and goes out with him - green light....she likes him ENOUGH to spend time when she doesnt have to (on the job) 7.they talk. get comfortable. share personal, vulnerable information. she is clearly NOT repulsed by proximity or his personality 8.asks her inside - she goes inside - brighter green light (she COULD have said NO...clearly, there's something in it for her to go inside...someone as small as her would never go into the apartment of a man that powerfully built if she felt the SLIGHTEST fear for her safety. Rocky doesnt know this, but by her accepting, she non-verbally conveys this. 9.asks her to sit next to him....here's the SUBTLE THING I NOTICED....she does NOT move away...instead she moves CLOSER to him to tell him WHY she wont sit on the couch. if she DIDNT like Rocky, should wouldnt care about his feelings, she would have said "no" and moved AWAY from him....OR not went in the apt to begin with. THe bottom line is that there are EIGHT instances where he expresses interest and each time, she escalates the interaction WHEN SHE DOESNT HAVE TO. She could have said NO at any time: at the store. at home. at the ice rink. SHe had MANY times to say no. After NOT saying no so many times, she's (subconsciously) sending a message that she's ok with him getting closer to her. It's part of the dance to recognize the significance of NOT saying no. The reality is that greatness sits on the other side of fear....unless you let the fear get too great. In that case, a person has no one but themselves for lost opportunity...with either gender.
First, Adrian did say “no” a few times to even going into Rocky’s apartment. She said flat out “I’m not comfortable”. You’re talking like reactors are just now making this up. The apartment scene is cringy. There was a time when people thought marital rape wasn’t a thing. There was a time when people said “but colored people also like segregation”. Times change, our understanding of the human experience changes. Now we can, at least decent people can, look back and say I’m glad times have changed because I don’t want to live in those conditions anymore. If you don’t believe toxic masculinity exists in some form, you’re part of the problem.
@@llorona7847 It's laughable that you would take this to those extreme comparisons, so please keep it relative to 2 people having a consensual affair that was a little uncomfortable at first, but became very comfortable in short order.
I saw this when it first hit the theaters, and at the time it was important for many reasons, the film was set during the bicentennial in the movie and in real life, so the levels of patriotism were off the charts. We were all able to relate to the character and the story. Good times. The street corner singer with the curly hair was Frank Stallone Jr., Sylvester's brother, who is a singer in real life, he had a couple of albums back in the day. The timekeeper (the guy that rings the bell) with the white hair during the fight with Apollo, was Frank Stallone Sr., his dad. Butkus was Sylvester's dog in real life. One of Apollo's guards was Michael Dorn (uncredited) who played Worf on Star Trek : The Next Generation. There were several stars that were background players, even Joe Frazier was in the movie (one of the greatest fighters to have ever lived. There's a lot of stories about the film that a lot of people don't know about, too much to list here. Remember, don't judge the apartment scene by today's standards, this was forty-six years ago, a totally different time and way of thinking. Glad you got to see it. Great review.
There are so many great things about this film. I think of it in the same kind of way as Good Will Hunting. An amazing piece of writing, with characters as real and complex as anyone you might meet on the street. A story composed almost entirely of gray area, where the characters are the result of their lifetime of experiences and hardships. Of course the best thing about it is the dynamic between Adrian and Rocky. A guy with far more to offer than the world ever gave him credit for, and the woman (also discounted by those around her) who is his foundation and the catalyst that allows him to reach that potential. It's a beautiful thing.
Great reaction and commentary. To me, one of the best scenes is when Rocky is getting his feelings off of his chest as Micky is out of sight down the staircase. Sylvester Stallone's early movies showed his acting skill way more than his later movies I think. A good movie to see that in is "First Blood". A lot think that movie is only an action film, but its not. There's a scene in there that's just heartbreaking, and reminds me of the scene in this movie.
I really hate saying this, but modern culture has really ruined me. The obsession with race has warped my perceptions of movies and it sickens me. I love how race was never once addressed in this movie. The champ is black, the underdog is white, and NOBODY GIVES A SINGLE SOLITARY SHIT! "Refreshing" doesn't even cover this bliss. I hate modern movies.
Funny story from Henry Winkler (who played ‘The Fonz’ on Happy Days) - was friends with Stallone. He actually brought Stallone’s story to ABC and the network was going to make it a TV series. But they wanted someone else in the lead. He got the story back for Stallone, who ultimately made the “Rocky” movie franchise. So in a nutshell, the Fonz saved Rocky.
When Apollo referred to "America's biggest birthday" he was talking about the upcoming new year which was 1976, the bicentennial, or America's 200th birthday year.
fun fact the boxer mickie gave rocky's locker to was played by a actor who played a boxer in the eddie murphy richard pryor movie "Harlem Night" which also starred comic legend red foxx
Sylvester Stallone wrote the screenplay for Rocky in three and a half days, shortly after watching the championship match between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner that took place at Richfield Coliseum in Richfield, Ohio, on March 24, 1975. His best display of his acting abilities in my opinion was the movie "Cop Land" . It wasn't his usual role. He potrayed the character he plays extremely well.
The main guy singing on the corner is Stallone’s brother and the dog in the movie is his actual dog he sold for $50 prior to selling the script then he bought the dog back. Interesting fact that he felt so strong about playing the title role that he wouldn’t sell the script no matter how poor he was unless someone agreed to him starring in it. The saline in the nose helps open up the nasal passages so they can breathe better. I love at the end when Adrien gets in the ring he’s more concerned about her hat than anything else.
This film is shot so well. It let's scenes and places sit. And then there is my favorite shot after rocky yells at mickey he runs after him and we don't hear any of the conversation it's just rocky and mickey down the street.
Great reaction to Rocky. Like the character, this movie was an underdog too. Stallone's script was sought after, but they didn't want him to star in it. He was broke and was reportedly offered $350,000 to sell the script outright, but refused and took a fraction of that to. play Rocky. Paradoxically the plot point that many people found unrealistic, actually happened. Muhammed Ali had previously chosen to fight an overweight local fighter once to save an already promoted title fight, and gave a relative unknown a shot at the world heavyweight title. Here are a few "good" classic/vintage recs, if you haven't seen any of them: Planet Of The Apes (1968) 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) The Godfather (1972) Airplane (1980) Die. Hard (1988) Field Of Dreams (1989) Dances With Wolves (1990) Goodfellas (1990) Good Will Hunting (1997) The Green Mile (1999) The Matrix (1999)
The bull mastiff at the pet shop was really Sylvester's dog. There's a story he sold his dog because he sell his screenplay because he needed to eat. He bought him back before the movie for alot more money, his corner man was the one gave Sly the money, he negotiated more money and a part in the movie.
What's fascinating about this movie, is not movie alone, it's what's behind it. Stalone himself wrote the script, and on interview he said that it's connected with his own struggles. Also he was very poor at that state, and even sold his own Dog for 50$ to buy food and pay rent. But after a movie, he bought the dog back for 15.000$
Thoughtful reaction. No blabbering away or trying out bad stand up material. I really enjoyed your work on this. I vote to put the disembodied voice on camera!
Sylvester Stallone before this was also in a movie with Henry Winkler called " The Lord's Of Flatbush ". Also the actor who plays " Mickey " was also in the Batman tv series as the Penguin . And also in a Twilight Zone episode back in the days . As far as Adrian , she was also in the movie " The Godfather " as Michaels sister . This movie is actually a love story between a man and a woman. Boxing has very little to do with it. It's just things that Rocky has to do to make ends meet. Like boxing & working for a loan shark .
The studio wanted Burt Reynolds for the part of Rocky. Stallone put his foot down and said, no, it's my story, I wrote it and if I ain't Rocky we ain't gonna make the picture. The studio acquiesced and movie history was written. Oh, and the turtles, Cuff and Link are alive and well and staying with Stallone.😊✌
I love how at no point in the movie do you think "Rocky is a bad person"..... he's a genuinely good and kind human being and that's why you want him to win
I enjoyed your reaction to this classic film. I hope you do more classic movies in the future. While I know you're not keen on the old look or feel of these movies, the scripts are far superior to what is being cranked out today. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
In 1976 the Bicentennial was a BIG Deal. The 4th that year was off the charts but basically in a lot of ways the Bicentennial was celebrated all year long. I was 8 at the time and still remember a lot of parts of it. So yeah technically in the eyes of a lot of people at the time The Bicentennial start 12:01am Jan 1 1976. Also Rocky 'won' in the 14th round. He had put up a hell of a fight...way more than anyone expected. Even Mick his manager was telling him to stay down (its his job he doesn't want to see Rock get 'hurt permanent'). He gets up because he has something to prove to the only person that matters in the end, himself.

That was Stallone's dog (Butkus). He was struggling before this film came out and had to give him up. Studios wanted to buy his script but didn't want him to star, offering $300,000 to someone who was struggling with rent, but he wanted to star in what he wrote. He finally found someone to make it and let him star. And he ended up buying his dog back. 2 million to make the film, and it won Best picture. I love how you discuss the appartment scene at the end and give a deep throught into it. A lot of younger people these days think it is a cingy scene and Rocky is almost harassing Adrian when it is clearly not the case, a least in this era back in the 70s it was not seen as such at all. Like you said, some people, especially girls like when the guy does the first step, push them out of their comfort zone, and this is not bad, being in comfort is not always good because you cannot evolve easily this way.
Pauly is stuck in lack and blames everyone, he represents reality in most of our lives of people who exist when you're trying to achieve something, all these rocky movies have a great connection and evolution as you continue on through the creed films.
On the nightstand in Paulie’s home you can see a photo of him in Navy uniform. Given that you can tell he’s someone who didn’t land on his feet after he got out of the service. He likely started working as a meat packer just to have a job and likely support Adrian. Then kinda got stuck working at a place he hated with no real out, and started drinking on the job to help himself keep warm. Got dealt a bum hand with life and didn’t know how to play it so he took it out on Adrian who just took his abuse. Paulie isn’t a bad person in this movie he’s a guy in a bad spot in his life dealing with it poorly.
If you watch the ending again, the music drowns out the announcer calling who won the fight. The director is saying that the movie isn’t about who won, isn’t even about Boxing, it’s about Rocky and Adrian.
Academy Awards Winner: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing. In 2006, the Library of Congress selected Rocky for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
America's birthday is the 4th of July but the significance of Jan 1st was this movie was set in 1976 so that was the "bicentennial' or 200 years of America so the whole year was like a birthday for America in that respect starting on the 1st.

Ooh, I can't wait!!
Loved the reaction. It's a classic I hate to say because I grew up watching this movie. Lol. You won't be disappointed with Rocky 2. Keep up the great work!
I really loved the breakdown of the apartment scene at the end. I wish more reaction channels did that.
And as the movies progress, EVERY character is more fully developed. Rocky, Adrian, Apollo, Mick, and even Paulie.
Rocky is a character that is so well-developed, that everyone roots for him. My favorite of the franchise is Rocky II, but you need to watch them all.
That's what a great movie does, had you discussing this with your family, bringing people together, love this movie, and great channel thank you! 👏👍🤗
Excellent reaction! You're gonna love Rocky 2.
If the scenes before the apartment scene did not show Rocky's empathy and his overall good nature, that apartment scene would have had a different tone. 1976 was America's birthday but you probably figured that out. Also, I like how they gave Paulie additional backstory by just showing his military picture on the dresser. It seems he had intentions of a future but it just didn't go his way.
exactly......the movie as a whole, visuals....the moments spoken and unspoken said it all.
Very authentic reaction, very pleasant to watch. Thank you for sharing your reaction with us.
12:36 "Ask her about herself." - Words to live by. Great reaction 🙂.
Basics of boxing:
You can punch your opponent with a closed fist, no open hand strikes or strikes of any kind other than the gloves fist
Can’t hit behind the front of a person like the back or the back of the head
Win rounds through effective aggressiveness, punches landed, and ring generalship
Winner of a round wins 10 points the loser gets 9 points automatically (perfect score is 120 points after 12 rounds)
If you get knocked down to the ground you lose the round and you lose an additional point so you have 8 points to your opponents 10
Highest score wins if your opponent doesn’t get Knocked out or knocked down and doesn’t make it to the 10 count (not a ten second count btw)

From a guy point of view, here is dance in the movie:
1.rocky asks her out at the store
2.she says doesnt say anything (but...DOESNT SAY NO) - yellow light = try again later
3.rocky asks her out again at the store
4.she doesnt say anything, BUT when he leaves say "good night, Rocky." - yellow light = try again later...but the dance is in motion...she escalated slightly
5.he asks Paulie about his sister ... She clearly is not so bothered by rockie that she complains to paulie - yellow light
6.goes to her house, asks her out = she gets dressed up and goes out with him - green light....she likes him ENOUGH to spend time when she doesnt have to (on the job)
7.they talk. get comfortable. share personal, vulnerable information. she is clearly NOT repulsed by proximity or his personality
8.asks her inside - she goes inside - brighter green light (she COULD have said NO...clearly, there's something in it for her to go inside...someone as small as her would never go into the apartment of a man that powerfully built if she felt the SLIGHTEST fear for her safety.
@@MoMoMyPup10 yup, it’s laughable

This was the best reaction to this movie! Now I am a new subscriber!👌👍
1976 was the bicentennial. I think that's what he's talking about when he says the, "Country's biggest birthday."
In the end, it's a love story between two lonely, marginalised people. And beautifully delivered. 👌
@@trequor Your opening five words should've been the alarm bell. Stay safe and cheers. 🥃
Working a speedbag like Rocky does in the movie is challenging at first but you get the hang of it pretty quick the more you practice
Ok you’re locked in to the series now…even part 5! Enjoyed your reaction. 👍🏼
Rocky 2 is great also. I hope to see the reaction
This movie came out in 1976, which was the bicentennial of the nation's founding. That's what Apollo meant about America's biggest birthday.
We want Rocky II !!! You´ll love it , its even better than this one
The whole "America’s birthday" bit is a reference to the bicentennial. The movie was released in 1976.
The movie takes place in 1976 which was America’s bicentennial. The entire year was celebrated
Here are a few "good" classic/vintage recs, if you haven't seen any of them:
Planet Of The Apes (1968)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
The Godfather (1972)
Airplane (1980)
Die. Hard (1988)
Field Of Dreams (1989)
Dances With Wolves (1990)
Goodfellas (1990)
Good Will Hunting (1997)
The Green Mile (1999)
The Matrix (1999)
He even sold his dog Butkus that we see in the movie to finance the it. Of course Stallone bought his dog back later, but wow.
What a great reaction ! Hope to see more .
The bull mastiff at the pet shop was really Sylvester's dog. There's a story he sold his dog because he sell his screenplay because he needed to eat. He bought him back before the movie for alot more money, his corner man was the one gave Sly the money, he negotiated more money and a part in the movie.
It absolutely didnt matter that he lost, just felt like noise in the background. Man this was great
Enjoyed the reaction until the end. Where it turned into a lawyers meeting. It's a film !
It's one of those films that's stood the test of time. I can see now as an adult why it was such a huge hit at the time.
Wonderful reaction! I could have done without her husband taking over the reaction at the end, but I still really enjoyed it.
Won the Oscar for best picture in ‘76 and Burgess Meredith won best supporting actor
Lords of the Flabush is an awesome movie, I forgot he was in that.
This was my grandmother's favourite movie. She showit to me when i was 7 or 8 .
You're really going to like Rocky II. I and II are really one long movie. Looking forward to your reaction.
Such great commentary at the end. This is the first time watching you, I'm a big fan.
Great reaction Elizabeth. I really enjoyed it. I'll check out your other videos. Looking forward to more. Rocky is a great series.
My favorite minor character in this is Duke, Apollo’s manager. “He doesn’t know it’s a damn show, he thinks it’s a damn fight!”
I love how at no point in the movie do you think "Rocky is a bad person"..... he's a genuinely good and kind human being and that's why you want him to win
fun fact..... his brother frank sang the song. The apartment was his and franks. The dog was his real dog. He wrote the movie.
Hi Perkins ❤️ yeah many thinks Rocky l.ll.lll.llll. is a sport boxing movies..🥊🥊🥊 but it is only 15% boxing and 85% a love story ❤️❤️❤️ i cant wait to you look at Rocky ll 👍🏾❤️👏 THX Perkins for a wonderful reaction on Rocky l 👍🏾👏👏👏🥊🥊🥊🥊🇸🇪
First time seeing one of your reactions, very nice. Anytime a Rocky reaction comes on I'll watch, why, because it's one of my favorite movies of all time. Thanks
The saline is the help prevent nosebleeds, like the Vaseline is to prevent skin from cutting on the gloves.
Awesome reaction and review im glad to see your understanding of that apartment scene with adrian and rocky alot of reactors I've seen are younger and they see it as aggressive and uncomfortable and saline thank you I thought people knew what that was but all I've seen is confusion or they think its drugs or something its ridiculous it's just to help the passages breath control is very important for boxing, anyhoo great vid
1976 was the bicentennial, the fight was taking place on January 1, New Year’s on the year of the bicentennial.
Pauly is stuck in lack and blames everyone, he represents reality in most of our lives of people who exist when you're trying to achieve something, all these rocky movies have a great connection and evolution as you continue on through the creed films.
I have always loved that look in round 14 by Apollo. Just a sigh, and disbelief. Its like he's thinking, what do i have to do to this guy?
Amazing reaction, my favorite movies of all time are Rocky 1-5. Rocky 2 is prob my favorite so you should react to Rocky 2 next
Little Marie makes is a supporting actress in Rocky Balboa; an excellent film.
I love your calm energy
In 2006, the Library of Congress selected Rocky for preservation in the United States National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
kinda of considered old......that makes me feel so old....because it's true....but God....what a classic.
Technically Paulie invented punching carcasses. In-universe that is.
Loved the reaction. Can't wait to watch more!😎👍🍷
Good reaction, great discussion. If you haven't seen Rocky II, it's a must see. Better even than this.
America's birthday is the 4th of July but the significance of Jan 1st was this movie was set in 1976 so that was the "bicentennial' or 200 years of America so the whole year was like a birthday for America in that respect starting on the 1st.
Thos won the academy award for best picture that year
I like the idea that you discuss about the movie with your husband and he stays behind the camera anonymous... It is different that the other reaction clips... :)
Welcome to the greatest on screen love affair ever, you'll be hooked on the series after Rocky 2, and I see you've already reacted to it...you gotta take your shot!
Very nice reaction on a great and classic Hollywood film. Have a wonderful rest of your week. 👍
The year 1976 was America's bicentennial(200 years). So January 1st is the beginning of the country's bicentennial.
Saline opens the nasal passages and shrinks the capillaries; giving the fighter a few shots to the nose before it begins to bleed.
1976 was the Bicentennial of the US. It was a full year of celebration. As a kid that was all the talk. Think Y2K for the year 2000.
