Tried this method 3 years ago and it worked .I use it to make garri and many other swallow as well no more wooden spoon thanks Flo for your knowledge sharing God bless you
This is a wonderful revelation. I followed your instructions and I’m very impressed with how easy it was using a mixer. The consistency of the pounded yam is excellent, very smooth. Thanks for sharing this information!
I just love u flo cos u are cultured and don't seem to hide it,showing it to the world and teaching people like me. God bless the work of your hands ma.
Yes oooo aunty Flo,i lovee this method so well,it's easy,i use this method, and the food processor method too.I also saw a lady, using the new method of making pounded yam, with her blender. She grinded her raw yams,in her blender, and afterwards, she wrapped in a foil, and steamed it for 30 minutes, and it came out perfectly fine.God bless you, thank you for sharing...😘😍😁
Deniz Bayram i actually saw it on facebook. Her name is Betty okoror.I don't know if we're allowed to post links, but just look up for her on facebook, you will find her.😊
Nice one sis :) !!! Years ago, my mother had a pounded yam maker/machine which turned out the poundo just like this stand mixer did (for you)... it would be as smooth as using mortar and pestle to prepare. Well done and thanks for sharing.
@@FloChinyere Please list link for best Pounder Yam mixer.... I have a finger injury from when in the US Navy. Having a machine can help me. My Edo Hubby has to make it🥴 I would love to surprise him🥰 Also, we use the Flour, the Yams are very expensive and dried out often, Virginia, USA 🇺🇸
My Dear Sister.....you never fail me o....this is brilliant...I never would've thought it could be done with a mixer! Abeg...my family and I are about that FUFU LIFE!🤗 So I'm looking forward to seeing what more you have in store! I appreciate you ❤🖤💚
Thank You Madam Flo, very interesting information, and yes we appreciate the efforts You put in to bring us detailed videos, God Bless You :) Please, could You kindly share what kind of stand mixer You used in this video? it looks really good. Thank You
Thanks for sharing. Very interesting to know that a mixer can be used to make pounded yam. But what about the normal cake mixer with Double whisk tong? Will it do same job?
dorcas onibode it depends on how powerful yours is. I have a small cake mixer with bowl that doubles as a handmixer which you'll see me using in my cake videos, it's not strong enough.
Flo please what other ways to prepare moi moi with beans flour. I tried it once and it didn’t come out well. Could you please do a video for that. Thanks
Can I suggest if you get the beans, soak and peel it. Put it your refrigerator and when ready to use, soak for about 10mins and then grind (they are small grinders now, that will blend it to blending your beans outside). Just take portion of the peeled beans you want to make use of and leave the rest in the refrigerator until the next time you want to use it. You'll have that same taste of a "real" akara & moi moi. Good luck!
Melissa Julie what exactly was wrong with the one you cooked? Preparing Moi Moi with beans flour can be tricky and to be honest, I don't trust the flour to be 100% beans. Some companies add something else that is not beans when making the flour that's why I recommend using whole beans when making Moi Moi. The only way I know cooking it with beans flour is that way I showed in that video: ruclips.net/video/ccjOaLGqiX8/видео.html If yours was watery I would say next time add less water and follow the recipe to the letter.
I figured it was from the bean flour, cos it turned out very dark n strong so he to throw the whole bag away. I’ll use whole beans next time. Thanks my sister.
Been using this for my family for a while now. I so much love pounded yam and can't seem to bring myself to liking poundo yam. It just doesn't go well down my throat. You can use a hand mixer as well but it is better when you use a dough mixer.
Dharmie A Babs that poundo yam is not 100% yam that's why you don't like it. Some honest brands list the ingredients which include potatoes. Some of them do not even contain yam at all.
Nwando puna yam is the full name for white yam, that sweet yam you know in Nigeria. Yes, you must use it because the other type of yam, water yam is tasteless and does not contain enough starch to make pounded yam. I'm not sure I understand your question about old yams. Puna yam can be old or new depending on how long ago it was harvested. Watch the video again and pay attention to what I said about old yam and new yam.
Please mama am interested in watching you on RUclips I have be looking for this yam pounder to buy for my in Nigeria, please were can it in Nigeria am from Edo state.
TheEvilOyo we have a yellow yam in Nigeria. If it's the same as the one you are talking about then no. Our yellow yam is just like the tail of yam hence not much starch.

is it mandatory to use puna yam alone? what about the other old yams that have been long harvested? Are they not suitable?

Yes, you can. We also have that combo in the Southern riverine areas of Nigeria.
God bless you! Such a wonderful channel I love it - takes me all the way back to Africa!
