I've had a feral since December when she and her babies were trapped for TNR. She got an infection and needed to recover indoors. I saw a post on Nextdoor and said we'd take her. I have a dog and a spare bedroom. From December to March, I wouldn't have known a cat lived with us except for poops in her box and food/water missing. In March, she changed her hiding spot to one where I could see her. A couple of weeks in, I started petting her head for a few seconds through the slipcover of the chair she hinds under and after about three times, she pressed her head into my hand. It was brief, but meant the world to me. The rescue said she couldn't be released when we got to Spring because she'd been in the house too long. She still doesn't come out during the day and doesn't leave her room and also she began skipping meals once or twice a week. Imo, she's depressed and longs to be outside, but the rescue said no, so my hands are tied. I thought maybe getting her a kitty friend that lived indoors might help her, and figured maybe a kitten would be better since she had just had a litter before TNR came to her aid. She took several steps back now. 😥. It's only been a couple of weeks that he (the kitten) has lived with us, so I'm hoping she'll adjust. I'd be so happy if the two kitties because besties!!!

Now that it's spring, they're saying she can't be released because she'd been indoors too long.
