That's how we acquired 2 Tuxedos. One came over the fence from being dropped off at a neighbor's and the other came to our front door at another time. We were chosen.

My friend was feeding a bunch of strays whenever their colony feeder was out of town. For 6 months my friend hounded me about claiming one of them. Finally, I agreed. She showed up with an all-black, 14lb, medium hair who sauntered out of the carrier, fell off the half walls, window sill, and couch back before finding a surface large enough to serve for his nap. When he awoke, he wandered into the kitchen, sat in the middle of the floor, and waited to be fed. She thought he was around 2, which means he was over 21 when he died. If I ever have another that intelligent, I will have to consider post-graduate work. I hope yours lives long and well.
@@jameshudson169 So? That's a good thing, lol. Animals are way better companions than humans on the long run, from my opinion. You won't get betrayed by them nor will you have to deal with their drama. It's simple ,you take care of them, they they care of you ( in a way of another ) back.

I was also a dog person and hated cats. But then got one and now love cats just as much as dogs. With that said, people describing cats as being “dog-like” has really become a pet peeve of mine. As if cats acting “cat-like” is a bad thing and that being more like a dog is somehow optimal. Both species are equally amazing.

Agreed! Cats just have their ways, and a lot of people think they are "aloof". They are merely independent and want to remain that way.
I was never a cat person and took in a rescue kitten . He was just like this cat. Understood everything and adventurous . He wanted to play outside everyday, stand by the patio door looking at me then the door as if to say “open it please!!! “

It is heartbreaking to lose a loved pet after spending many years with them, I hope you can find a rescue kitty soon and find comfort in their company. Cat can sense when there is something wrong and can be very caring. We had a Siamese boy named Simba, and he always knew if one of us was not well and would cuddle up to keep us warm.🐱😁👍🇦🇺

I'm 70 years old and have had cats since I was 19, right now I have a 3 year old boy Shadow Eugene he's black with a white spot on his belly!! Someone just left this tiny kitten to die but he came to our place and became the man of our house! People like you make the difference and thank you for taking him!!

I'm so busy these days with my studies. As soon as I get enough free time to commit to a pet, I'm go gonna get myself a rescue kitty. When I was a kid i had cat and he was the coolest companion ever. He was so affectionate and cuddly i still have trouble understanding when people refer to cats as independent.

This cat knows no fear. He is outgoing and adventurous. He's gorgeous, you can take him anywhere.
If you want this in a cat, I hear Siberian forest cats are the breed. Excellent temperament, intelligent, great mouser, quiet, super thick coat but hypoallergenic, huge athletic cat that likes the water & travels well. REALLY expensive is the problem with em. At least a grand.
I don't think this lil guy is part siberian though. He doesn't talk like one & his face is more triangular. I think he's part Norwegian Forest cat. Similar breed, also very athletic & multi-layer coated.

Yes. It's worth mentioning that cats can be trained to not use their claws in play. Do not have your cat declawed. It is painful, and takes away a means of defense and play for them.

Liebchen looks almost identical to my Scampy, the little guy I helped cross the Rainbow Bridge 4 years ago. He was such a sweet cat, so affectionate and easy to love. Thanks for treating us all to this very heartwarming, very funny "biography".
Cute meow! Our tabby squeaks, and occasionally opens her mouth and nothing at all comes out lol, but she's so affectionate, she's also a rescue kitten, wouldn't be without her :)
I had an orange tabby who was named Carrots by the woman who got her as a kitten. She squeaked so often that one of her nicknames was Squeaky Toy.

We found a family of feral cats living around the shrubbery in our backyard when we first moved in as tenants. We adopted them, had others treated by a vet and neutered. The 4 that we were able to adopt have been part of the family for about 6 years now, plus we still feed the local cats belonging to the neighborhood, along with several bird species, squirrels, occasional raccoon and skunk visitors 😆…we love them all!

I wasnt a cat person but our first cat Savannah was given to my daughter, she ignored her but I couldnt, my heart melted...now we have 2 more, my babies 😻
When cats wink at you it means total acceptance to the pack. If you wink back to a cat like they wink at you, it really makes them bond to you. Love is the magic formula, for the human and the cat.

He's a beautiful little person, don't get your cats microchipped if you are a UK citizen. Every cat gone missing here is MICROCHIPPED ! The Universities are doing scientific experiments on chipped pets. I can tell you this is true as I worked at a major UK University where horrific experiments took place ! It's the only way they can secure an animal for experimentation. The UK government have introduced a 38 itemized statement on why they think cats need chipping. Do you honestly think they CARE about your cats ? ? No ! It's because there are policies in plac to discover we hat these animals may be CV passing on to o humans and big profits can be made through this nonsense. C as the are FREE SPIRITS , and many cats run away from certain owners because they no longer want to live with them . Cats are rivers they are a wild , independent creature. This will never change, and at this point , a cat t will no longer be what her was created to be !
I'm a cat lover - rescuer many, many times. He is adorable & his willingness to be outside with you, biking, walking on a leash for goodness sake & even skiing is amazing. Good for you that you adopted him. Perfect for each other.
As you are observant enough to understand what your little ball-of-joy is communicating, that's precious.
At this moment in time, my wife & I have come to take care of six little angels. And all have their own ways of communicating.

@@lapatti I dunno, in my experience I've found gingers (or 'marmalades') have tended be more laid back and people-oriented (perhaps along with tabby-and-white). By no means hard and fast, but definitely a pattern. I always stop and introduce to myself to any cat that's indicating they want me to, BTW.

@@sachab6098 i thinkthe reason why its pointed out is moreso because its often that comparison that prevents people from adopting / rescuing cats in the first place and some people are genuinely really hateful of cats due to the whole like comparison to dogs and stuff.
its just kind of weird that, all of these beings are like sentient and like aware they exist and they have personalities and preferences and different likes because theyre different animals but a dog is still treated as sort of like the pinnacle of pets ig. ofc like it doesnt have to be reflective of what people actually think about these pets but the comparison just has always rubbed me the wrong way since i grew up with cats and always had an understanding of just how loving and affectionate they can be, especially when you respect their boundaries (though some cats ofc just dont like affection and thats fine. they deserve love in the form of leaving them alone but still) not in a rude way or whatever since comments can be taken really wrong in terms of tone, just my two cents and like. my thoughts on it
and i dont think "pinnacle of pets" is the right wording either. cause its a really abstract thing right. its just weird that it always has to come back to dogs. it doesnt feel like respectful or whatever (even if the animals cant tell youre comparing them its the idea behind it right? that theres an expectation there thats like really related to the pet everyoen seems to like and is really normalized to have. so its just a thing that i think is important to consider maybe)

The difference between wanting a companion and wanting a decoration makes a huge difference. All animals have feelings just like us. They don't want to have to earn love. I adopted my cat last year, she's been left at a shelter at 9 years old. She's the sweetest cat ever, the previous owner must've had it bad in life to give such an angel away. Adopt, don't shop!
In my lifetime I bought 2 and adopted 5. I specifically bought 2 Birmans because I thought they would suit young kids, which they did. Our current rescued tabby would have been far too rough with young kids as she'll suddenly bite and scratch when she's had enough attention, even though she is otherwise the most affectionate cat I've known, but from here onwards I'll always adopt

What a cutie Once you discover cats, it’s over. I’m a cat daddy fanatic now. Never crossed my mind to adopt a cat. I was a dog lover & thought cats were cool but fell in love with my roommates cat. Then I got my own & the rest is history. Now I cannot imagine a life without cats. They are so amazing. We might save them but they can save us every day.

Yea, I hate that cop out when they say it doesn't act like a cat. No, it's acting like a cat because it IS a cat and each cat has it's own personality.
Ppl always think cats act like the worst aspects of what cats could be, but never extend that to dogs (unless there’s some serious trauma) or humans. So when a cat acts normal, they assume the cat is abnormal. Also reminds me of HTTYD. The dragon is very clearly modeled/inspired by a cat, and they’ve admitted to doing it. But people see it and go “oh yes, look a dog! With some cat qualities” when literally it’s basically a cat through and through.

Every time I see an orange and white cat 🐈 I think of mine that I had for 14 years. She passed November 2020 and I still miss her. Her name was Pita, acronym for Pain In The Ass! Best cat, animal, ever! I take care of a few stays, and even though they follow me, it’s not quite the same. Love these animals and do what I can for them, but as I said, not quite the same.

Yup exactly. The moment i heard this line, I rolled my eyes. The reason why it 'doest act like a cat' is coz he acts grateful and is more snuggly etc? Well, if you pamper any cat well enough, and if they like you genuinely, they will be grateful no matter what. Of all the cats I've owned,there wasn't one whose eyes weren't filled with gratitude and love. Smh

@@amandaroy9331 I have a challenge ahead of me. My last cat(black cat) was “like a dog”. Unfortunately she died of cancer which was misdiagnosed as asthma.
Now I have an orange tabby and she’s made a home under my couch. I’m slllowly getting her to warm up to me. I can pet her, and I got her to come out but still very close to her safe space. She’s under there now.
But it’s obvious not all cats will go on bike rides or go for walks. So I’d say her statement is pretty accurate.

Liebschen is a real winner! And since he’s such a talkative little guy, I’m thinking he might be part Maine Coon cat! Maine Coons aren’t your “regular” cat. They are demonstrative, talk a lot and they expect you to carry on the conversation with them. They are such fun kitties! Look up some info about a Maine Coon, you’ll be surprised! They are the most loving, cute cats in the world! Best of luck to you all! 😻

@@rhondaborders3452 yes they are our largest domestic cats. beautiful loving cats but not the only ones with those traits nor are all of maine coon descent. talking is more of a learned trait from being talked too than one that is from their dna (except siamese, i think they are born talking :-) ). most animals will respond to being talked to lovingly by returning the favor. scientists are even beginning to see this with pets, they are actually trying to communicate with us. all these years people have considered animals dumb because WE do not understand them yet i wonder who the ignorant ones are? lol

yeah I'm pretty sure since that's a male cat, he would be at least twice as big if he had any Maine Coon in him tbh. Perhaps you may be thinking of a different breed?

Puuuurrrrfect! I miss my kitties, now long departed on their last walk. Living overseas, I now help support a rescue shelter for dogs, cats and other creatures that have been cast off. Thanks for the beautiful story of Liebchen and his wonderful mom and dad.😍
This is just so heartwarming! I have two rescued Gingers and the boy just now has been willing to accept the halter before he screamed and cried and acted tormented! It shows you never too old and even at age 9 he loves outdoors so much he's willing to put up with the halter. But just like with you he sits at the door and cries and whines and literally harasses me to go out. I'm not crazy about that part, but I don't blame him I want to be outside too. We live in Colorado as well and there is rarely a day that isn't nice enough to go outside.
I rescued cats for over 10 years and yes, people should help them... even one at a time. Thanks for being excellent humans!
