I feel so fortunate to have "accidentally" ran across your video. I enjoyed it immensely and found it so informative. You use water so fearlessly....☺️
I have never seen anyone paint as you...Thank you for teaching us how to be so free with our watercolors. Your use of water both spray bottle and freehand leaves me in AWE. Please repeat the use of the colors you use when adding on, I think this would greatly help your students. USA
I took your course after I heard you were a student of Tony Smibert! I own his Painting landscapes from your imagination! I'm happy that your hair style has 'toned' down since LOL. fabulous! Tx I highly recommend his watercolour course for those interested!
I spent some time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the southern U.S. this week, and had turned out a gorgeous watercolor landscape… until I touched up this and added that, and continued until it was completely ruined. ☹️ Restraint is often the name of the game when painting abstracts. So, you were right to stop when you did. Stunning work, as usual!
You are so kind and sweet, sharing your gift, Scott. Thank you. I agree with "know when to stop". We are not trying to duplicate a photograph. It is enough to *evoke* what the viewers might see themselves through the emotions you express on the paper. ; )
I love the randomness that abstract watercolour has and even in acrylic where it can be less abstract but Katie Jobling of RUclips fame keeps saying that nature in general is random. The patterns are unique and all different at the same time. I think I will use this to do my first practice with as it ‘abstract’ but yet startling in its representation
Merry Christmas Scott. I wish you well in 2023 and beyond. You're one of the mist inspiring abstract landscape artists on RUclips. Thank you for all your uploads on your channel.
I’ve just discovered your tutorials and I’m watching them all! It’s wonderful to find an artist that I have a similar abstract style and appreciates the beauty of watercolor. Thx!
Hi Kathy! It’s all good if it’s different! Just work on the feeling or atmosphere you want to achieve. That’s the main thing! You will always learn if you keep painting and keep experimenting and then reflecting! Have fun! 👍
Never done a watercolor abstract. I love how you do it. I'm excited to try this. I'm used to acrylics, oil crayons, pour painting. Looks great Scott. I and my art c husband ronny love your art. Many thanks for us both Scott. God bless you very a bundantly.
Just found your channel - fascinating to watch how the landscape takes shape almost on it's own at first. The final picture is very Turner-esque and so beautiful. My conclusion after trying loose watercolour like this is that I'm too timid and don't use anywhere near enough colour. PS your hair is quite mad in this vid, made me chuckle.
Sounds great Helena! Enjoy! Just make sure you just work with what happens on the page rather than copy my painting! It will be more enjoyable and the end product with be better too! Have fun! 👍
Hi Scott, I just subscribed to your channel and I love your setup in your studio. I would like to try Hake brushes and was curious if you had any suggestions on what brand and size to start off with? By the way I absolutely love your painting. I absolutely love doing extreme wet. It’s absolutely freeing and there’s something that is truly wonderful about letting the colors do what they want to do and trusting the process
I give free hugs to anyone who says that! lol Thanks! I do love his work and have studied his paintings over many years! My work is much more simple but aims to have some of that atmosphere is he was amazing at creating!
Brother. I stopped even trying to watercolour, too damn hard. Been having fun with loose acrylics. I love loose painting, its freedom. But this is inspiring. Its like have at it. Im gonna give this a burl and have some fun. Who knows might even be able to sell a painting eh. Definitely going too look at your course if i find im excited by this style. Im anticipating i will. Thankyou for the demonstration. Love the finished product bro. Im in lake macquarie nsw so plenty of beautiful scenery to paint. 👍
Hi Gayanthi! I'm really glad you find the videos helpful! If you need more understanding I have done many more videos around understanding watercolour on Patreon. All of that info will be here in youtube if you sift through all the videos. Happy painting. If you have any questions let me know. Cheers Scott
Hi Scott Still doing the beginners course, however, inspired now to do "Lone Pine". My grandfather was an original ANZAC, returned but damaged. This would raise his spirit if he were here. I'm doing it beginner or not! Thanks for the inspiration...
Hi Tricia! It really depends on the size of the paper you are painting and from that the size of the branches in terms of size of rigger. In terms of brands. I really like Winsor and Newton's pure sable range of riggers. They hold a good amount of paint and deliver that to the page over a long brush stroke. Hope that helps! they are not the cheapest though! Cheers Scott

Fearless is a great word for it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. WHAT A LOVELY EXPERIENCE TO WATCH YOU PAINT!!

It's actually magic what you do!

Thank you Scott! Always enjoy your lessons :)
I’ve learned more from you…in 2 videos than in a full year with a teacher….thank you..this has been awesome 😎
Hi Venus! I am so glad! Watercolour can be difficult if you don't understand it! Good luck with your learning! Any questions just ask! Cheers Scott
Very inspiring! Beautiful painting! Great technique!... like your hairstyle, too. 😊
Freedom art never looked so beautifull ! Thank you
Thanks Isabelle! 🙏🙏

Yes I have done that lots of times myself! It is hard to know when to stop!
What a delightful tutorial. Thank you. Love the way you share your thought process, and teach at the same time. Truly gifted artist.❤️🇿🇦
Très très intéressant ! Ça parait si simple quand c'est vous qui le faîtes....j'essaierais quand même. Merci pour la démonstration
I like how you show us your set up and we see your water pot and when you click the brush and wipe up and spray.

Great tutorial Scott fabulous watercolour painting 👍👍
I really like the idea of pulling out and off the pigment after re-wetting an area (of the water). Brilliant!
Yes it works well and even better if you have used non staining pigments leading up to that point! 👍👍

I watch these....love them.....when I paint it is completely different but I know you are teaching me......another fine painting....Thanks!

Wonderful video, tku so much!! Can you please advise a really good rigger for painting fine tree branches?
Hi Tricia! It really depends on the size of the paper you are painting and from that the size of the branches in terms of size of rigger. In terms of brands.
