The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
Since when are full lengths of boards considered "scrap"?? I'd love some of that scrap.
the carpenter in my hometown they used to pick up scrap from wood factory and make into valuable furniture

At first I was like, "Who needs such a small table!?", then I saw the 5 year old and thought, "Well, who needs a smaller table than that??" then there was the 2 year old. I realized I was a fool. This was beautiful woodworking!

There a lots here in Philippines you can find piles of wood laying around near basketball courts

6 foot long scrap 2x4 oak. I’ve got pieces 1 foot long that still aren’t scrap
Step 1. Grab about 400 bucks worth of oak. Wait wut.....
Perhaps its different in woody countries (Sweden comes to mind), but in the Netherlands wood prices are insane, and oak is the most expensive of them all.

A complete instructional video with creativity, art and skill. The angle at the base of the table is very beautiful and we really enjoyed the combination of shock absorber, metal and wood. We are waiting for your interesting educational videos.

Traky boy hard time? I can’t for this exact reason. He didn’t show the sizing of the timber which eludes some of the audience, I’m glad as I start skipping forward when such things are shown.

No kidding...just like «yeah, I know a place where we can find scraps of oak»??? When you know how long it takes an oak to reach maturity, you understand the cost of it. Not an easy wood to work with, only for those of us with a certain experience otherwise stick to pine, maple or fir.
I've been woodworking for 30+ years and I'm really impressed by his creativity and precision. People who are good at things make them look EASY, like hockey players shifting from inner edge to outer edge...
It interesting that so much thought and planning went into this just to solve a non existing problem.

Sorry, that oak is better than the premium pine which is the best my local lumber yard can get, most of which is bent, bowed, twisted, cupped, doglegged, and split anymore I'm going to have to close my custom cabinet shop. Between that, the price, and covid-19, Trump not having the resources in place and stocked away medical-wise, he's dumping us into a depression. We should call it the Trump Depression.

Scraps of oak worth $100’s of dollars considered garbage.

1 m^3 firewood already costs 90€, so Oak planks cost much more, and it’s even more than 1m^3, so this is definitely not garbage

Thats some beautiful scrap wood. I could have fun with a pile like that. I just took a scrap wood challenge myself, although my channel is primarily metal working. Nice job.
Silly sort of thing maybe but you are the first person I have seen use a pusher like that for cuts along the length and I am glad to have watched this video as it has removed a lot of my anxiety about using table saws.

For a whole lot less drama. Cut 4” of of 4 legs, sand it down and stick it at the table. Boom. Done. 🤷🏼♀️
But you need than two different size of chairs. Better is, you need only one table and same size chairs. 😉

So cool, building age appropriate furniture. As an Architect who has designed early learning facilities I would always encourage those commissioning the practice I worked for, to get down to the physical level that children engage with the world; changes your perspective from "adult centric" to "child centric" so that the child has an opportunity to engage with the world at a scale that is meaningful for them (such as putting child sized doors adjacent to adult /regular doors)

Let me get some "scrap wood" , pulls fresh wood plank from home depot shoved into the middle lol.
If that's Oak. you aren't gonna find that at 'Home Depot'. Home Depot sells framing lumber and small hardwood lumber. If you want something that long / thick you have to go to a hardwood store, or sawmill to buy it.
Ain't no way you're finding wood that nice at ANY big box home improvement store!

I've made a lot of high end furniture from Home Depot material.
Lowes has as bunch of nice oak lumber. Menards even carrys walnut and cherry.
@@brokenwave6125 Yeah, maybe 3/4 inch or 1" material. This guy had like 2" to 3" thick Oak. I've never seen that at a big box store.

How about this...DO NOT use a grinder on an automotive strut without disassembly (he was very lucky to not have it explode) and that scrap pile is amazing (?) Of course, others already made those comments. Thanks for your review of my comment.

If that nice pile of wood he has is "scrap" then the wood leftovers I have are "pure garbage wood". 😂💯😂

well technically is leftovers from wood mill that didn't fit quality pass to be reused. We get plenty of those at very cheap(that whole pile won't go above 40$) and use it mainly to heat our homes or make stuff like fences or even a shack if sturdy enough and not with too many cracks. So yeah, that is scrap from the mill.

Can you not bitch for once srsly... All the things he did can be done with hand held tools no problem. The whole focus of the video is what he is making, not what tools he is using.
A good craftsman can solve the problem of lack of said tools. You'll be surprised how amazing they are at improvisation.
Edit: As long as they have basic tools, they can do the same, only taking a bit longer.

The only scrap wood I have is lollipop sticks, what could I do with them.
Make a 3d model of something? Might also need cardboard and styrofoam for that
well...if you have a LOT of them, you could square em up, then glue em into a neat looking board. from there you could do a bunch of stuff with it :)
(would be a mad amount of work though)

We once got our hands on some scrap mahogany. It was part of the interior walls of a house about to be torn down and it was a ton of mahogany. Not even legal anymore. It was a once in a lifetime though admittedly

The only “Scrap” Wood was the pieces he used to put weight on when he glued the boards for the table.

It's as if the title was worded to make it more interesting.
Looks like sawmill waste to me - boards with bark, wane, or severe end spilts, as the one had that we saw him retrieve and cut three pieces from at the start of the video.

There is an old adage "if you haven't been told that XYZ can't be done, then a child /adult doesn't know that XYZ can't be done, and therefore can come up with a way of doing XYZ that others couldn't conceive because they had been 5aught "XYZ can'tbe done".
First: This is not a scrap. Second: You'd must have all this machinery and tools. Third: So, you're a carpenter

Mr MaNuSia It’s a throwaway society we (many of us) live in. It’s all the cheap stuff from China.
I mean, it wasn't 'thrown' away, lol. It simply was just in a pile of other wood. If he really thought it was useless wood it would've been in a landfill already, or burned. He was just saving it for later.

Actually some building sights toss wood like that my father and i gathered some and built a garage for the cost of nails some companys are pretty cool with it some say no
