Both guys played really well. Fun games to watch are the ones decided by a small margin and it was quite a show! It’s amazing that Rublev doesn’t seem to have much muscles, but he can smack the ball really hard.
Ah man I wanted Rublev or Dimitrov to win this so bad. Oh well, it was a good win for Hurkacz who really stepped up his game since Wimbledon. He gave Djokovic a decent scare that match off the back of his serve, then in Toronto and Cincinnati he challenged Alcaraz and improved his forehand a bit. I’m not sure why his performance at the majors has dipped so much recently, and the US Open loss was bad, but he’s on the right track and might be back in the top 10 after this.
@SJ-di5zu he will always be a masters 1000 specialist and great Wimbledon player BO5 doesn’t suit him I say he’s opposite Stan in one was great in one of them and bad in other
Hurkacz is a different beast when he actually plays more aggressive with his forehand, not just pushing the ball around as we saw so many times this year. His defence was also exceptional in the last couple of matches. And the serving of course, he is really using his height advantage. The fight for Turin will be interesing in the next few weeks.
He has a chance to jump to 8th place. There are still 3 tournaments before the Atp finals/Hubi will play in Tokyo, Basel and Paris/. I like his more aggressive tennis. That forehand works very well. And thanks to this he won the whole tournament, I think.
Rublev is the only player that gets this kind of treatment. The guy has serious issues that he needs to get taken care of but no other player gets this reaction when they get angry and act unsportsmanlike
My goodness, what a match! The players perform their best in the best-of-three format. They fight for every point and are super fun to watch. Majors on the other hand have seen matches way too long and exhausting to the point quality of play suffers.
Great match; it could've gone either way. Looks like Rublev has finally found his game. I'm truly surprised at the quality of tennis this late in the season. If Hurkacz can just 'hold his nerve', he can win a Grand Slam; he just seems to fade at the big moments. His results don't reflect just how good a player he really is. 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Posting summary here as well. "Amazing tennis!” Indeed, coach. Federer was once again looking on in Shanghai as Hubi clinched his 2nd career Masters 1000 title 6-3 3-6 7-6 (10-8) in just over 2 hours. With this, the Pole rises to 11th in the rankings & into striking distance of qualifying for Turin. Ruby is currently in 5th place. It was a close match. Hubi only hit one more winner than Ruby & actually had 10 more unforced errors, but tennis is a game of percentages & Hubi’s 1st serve in, 1st serve made, & 1st serve won were all higher. Ruby looked so tired & sad holding his platter. Don’t feel bad, you played so well! 1st set: The sixth game proved to be the hinge point of the set as unforced errors from Ruby handed Hubi the first break of the match. 3-2 became 5-3 as Hubi held serve to win the 1st set in 31 mins. 2nd set: After a much needed love service game, Ruby finally broke Hubi in the 2nd game by pouncing on all four of the Pole’s 2nd serves. Ruby raced ahead to a 3-0 led in 13 mins. More aces & coming to the net twice to end points with smashes helped Ruby reach a 5-2 lead in 25 mins. (He should’ve done that more in the tiebreak.) Another love service game closed out proceedings as the final was due to go the distance after just over an hour of play. A 7% drop in 1st serve won was enough to Hurtcaz in the 2nd set. 3rd set: Tiebreakulosis was in the air as both players held serve to 6 all. The 10th game with Ruby on serve had drama! Ruby found himself in danger with some sloppy points & he received a warning for screaming at a photographer who distracted him. The umpire handled it well & agreed with Ruby, but still had to issue it. A crucial correction from the umpire kept Ruby alive & he went on to save match point at 5-4 with strong serving. Coming to the net once again kept Ruby alive. Tiebreakdown: A brisk 3-0 lead for Ruby turned into a tight 5, 6, 7, & 8 all as both players held serve & returned well to maintain pressure. Too many errors from Ruby ultimately allowed Hubi crucial leads at 7-6 8-7 & 9-8 to win the TB & match.
3rd set was absolutely magnificent! Congrats to both players for an great tournament and fantastic experience! I am so happy, that Shanghai Masters are back.
Congrats to Hurkacz, his serve was pretty much imperious! As for Rublev, it's a tough one to take but these are slim margins. More importantly though, his game seems to be steadily improving: he's getting more comfortable at the net, throwing in the occasional drop shots, and in general, being more patient in point construction. Not yet perhaps at the stage of challenging the top 4 or 5 consistently, but if he can keep expanding his arsenal, a slam might just be on the cards.
You got to feel for Rublev, I thought he really deserved to win, considering how well he has played this week. but in such a tight match like this, it really comes down to finest of margins, But well played Huby, just able to control the nerves at the end.
Rublev wears his heart on his sleeve and gets very emotional - but does not direct it at officials, staff, or opponents. Very human and very likeable. And Hubie is about as likeable as they come.
I bet nobody believed Hubi would ever get his hands on a second big title. He proved a lot of people wrong. Tough one for Rublev, he deserved it just as much. But there can be only one!

@@kacperm6555 you feel like that when you watch Hubert on clay. It is a struggle for him and it is a struggle for those who cross their fingers for him in those games. But then comes hard court part of the season and you see Mr Hide. a man who can beat anyone and who does not get beaten easily or without a fight. This gives me hope. Nobody has completely mastered all the surfaces, there is always room for a win in ATP1000 if not in slams, so Hubert has a good chance to lift more trophies in the next seasons, which I wish him wholeheartedly, coz those can convince him he should continue his quest.

Congrats to Hubi, graet title. However I had a feeling hes hitting the ball like 70% of what he can. With such a great seve and return, to be in top 10 he should get more cofidence and finish faster this kind of game. Still nice game and very tight.

@@zweigackroyd7301 What is wrong with you? Are you right in the head? I bet not! What i'm writting is based solely on what i saw in comment sections in tennis sites/forums, SM or sport sites in general. Almost everyone was implying that he is a one-hit-wonder. And the same is implied for Khatchanov. What do i gain by pretending? ROFL... dude, keep your conspiracy theories to yourself!
Brilliant, that's what one would call a final.
So happy for my compatriot Hubi. Truely deserved it and hes uber nice
Really impressed with rublev's improvement in his defensive game. Bodes well for him going forward.
Hurkacz has a great attitude one of the best on tour. Top player deserving the title.
Hubi improved his forehand this season and it shows! Jazda nasz Hubert!
For a good part Rublev remained in contention and that frustration was evident when he let it slip in crucial moment at the finish point but that is partly due to the sheer tenacity on display by the towering Pole who seems to be innocuous with his moves at times yet so so effective.Champion is roaring again in Masters.
@Rafatruegoat24 Offcourse Hahahaha, grapes are well ripe n sour
GRATULACJE 🎾❤️🇵🇱Hubert HURKACZ 😊
Hubi is such a good guy
Hurkasz really deserved it. He is such a great (and large) Sportman. I really like this guy.
at 2:06 Rublev is screaming "You hit the outside line" two times in a row.
Outstanding play from both!
Congrats to Hubi, graet title. However I had a feeling hes hitting the ball like 70% of what he can. With such a great seve and return, to be in top 10 he should get more cofidence and finish faster this kind of game. Still nice game and very tight.
The range Hubi can cover is crazy... almost makes tennis a slower ping-pong game.
Good for Hubie. Fantastic final!
Well deserved. Bravo Hurckaz
Very high quality match here. Great job, guys.
I’m calling for a break out year for Rublev next year in the slams. He’s going to make at least a final next year I hope.
Down to the wire on this match! Congrats to Hubbie - both players did great! Thanks to Shanghai for a fantastic event!!!

Fantastic match! Very close and could've went either way. I like both players and they come across as nice, decent individuals too, though I slightly prefer Rublev's playing style more.
Congratulations Hubi 🎉🎉🎉well played both 👍
Super mecz. Zasluzone zwyciestwo. Wielkie Gratulacje Hubert!
2:11 What is Rublev showing here? That he can't come to terms with the fact that Hubi won this point with a brilliant forehand? Weird guy.
I really really LOVE the sound of the ball off the racquet in this tournament specifically!
So happy for Hubi after having a very tough and up & down year
Incredible fight from Andrey as well, very epic contest but Hubi deserved it at the end after having too many MPs he missed out on earlier
Hurkacz is so cool on court win or lose. A likeable guy.
played so well this tournament.. moves so well for a guy his size
Gratulacje Hubi teraz wracamy do czołowej dziesiątki
I'm so happy he won this! ❤❤❤
And this ladies and gentlemen, is why the men deserve more
What a match 🙌 Congrats Hubi 👌
Sad for Rublev, but Hubi is a great guy and player, so congrats to him.
very happy for Hurky!!!!
Both players showed some amazing skills,The Pole has prevailed this time !!!
Que bien jugó Hurkacz gran nivel justo campeón.
