    This is the calmest I have seen Rublev play, and he produced terrific tennis. I think he's someone that needs to convince himself. Whilst that belief took some time, he finally achieved it. I am so gassed for him.

    • @patrikmarflak6559
      @patrikmarflak6559 Год назад +47

      I was most impressed by his defense today. He was driving Rune crazy in the third set, those two smashes in the net at 5:5 probably decided the match. With most players the previous shots would have been enough to win the point but Rublev really dug deep in those rallies. I think if Rune played the same situation in a less critical time of any match, he would let the ball bounce and finish it with authority. But he was already too annoyed by Rublev’s perseverance so he rushed it. Some might say they were mistakes caused by inexperience and that is partly true, but it’s also true that Rublev’s mental and physical effort under pressure was extraordinary.

    • @babatundekalejaiye7046
      @babatundekalejaiye7046 Год назад +28

      @@patrikmarflak6559 Anyone who factored inexperience into the loss doesn't know what it takes to win a Masters 1k. Rune lost his shit, and that cost him the win. Rublev managed his emotion and convinced himself to go down fighting, and it worked out. Most players undermine the fighting spirit; little do they know it's crucial and a missing piece to becoming the total package.

    Well deserved Rublev, always respected his grind and style. But Rune's loss today won't take away the fact that he delivered an outstanding performance this tournament. When he lost his serve at 4-1 on the 3rd, that's when the mental collapsed. It is just a matter of time until he controls his emotions, strenghten his mental and maturity, for him to win a 1000 and more. He is full of potential for sure. Rublev can enjoy this much deserved win.
