Important to note: You can still use your credit cards on the switch and the money will be on your Nintendo account. So long as 3ds and Wii U are connected through the account, you will be able to put money on your 3DS/Wii U with the switch. This will work with the Nintendo online store as well. Put money in the wallet on the website and it will be on your Nintendo account on any system that's connected to it.
Also, buying games - sans DLC - on the Wii U and 3DS eShop on an account linked with a switch will count towards earning 5% back in Gold Coins to use for spending money on the Switch's eShop.
@@noahschlosser5804 your welcome, it's important for everyone to realize we still got a year before the 3ds e shop/ Wii U virtual console close and there's an easy way to put money on them.
Ever since hearing about the shutdown, I've been looking for good videos on this exact topic, and I happened upon your gem of a channel. You deserve more subs!
Thanks dude, added a few more games to my "things to get before the shutdown" wishlist because of this! This video is so high quality, how do you not have more views/subs??
Glad it helped! I appreciate the compliment. Honestly, I don't stress the subs, like, obviously I appreciate'em, but I make videos cause I genuinely enjoy making them, and it's stuff that I'd watch myself. Just glad that the people that do find'em have liked them for the most part haha.
@@SimplyAJ I got some of those games and get pokemon rador to. I also got dr lugi for the wii u.. I have several 3ds consoles including all versions of the Japan systems.
Oh, and since you told us to comment on any cool games that are disappearing soon: 3DS (Digital Only): -Kirby's Blowout Blast -Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies + DLC -Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice + DLC ^^^^^This is the ONLY way to get Spirit of Justice, the latest MAINLINE ENTRY -Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword -Rhythm Heaven Megamix -Attack of the Friday Monsters -Liberation Maiden -Weapon Shop DeOmasse -Rusty's Real Deal Baseball -The "3D Classics" games -Air Race: Speed + Air Race: Xeno -Fractured Soul -Dr. Luigi Game Boy: -Legend of the River King 1&2 (stupidly expensive otherwise) -Gargoyle's Quest (and the NES sequel) -Shantae (horribly expensive) - DSI-Ware: -Mighty Flip Champs -Mighty Milky Way ^^^^Wayforward games -Photo Dojo -Metal Torrent -Air Race SNES: -Earthbound (expensive otherwise
Yo this list is GREAT! Oh man Legend of the River King was one I had meant to include originally. Also yeah those 3D Classics titles too, damn there's just so many haha. Like, I knew I was going to be missing a ton, but at the same time, can only cover so much in a video
Btw you can still link your Nintendo Networks ID’s wallet to your Nintendo Account (the one used for switch) and then you can add funds to your switch which will then transfer over to 3DS and Wii U which Nintendo has confirmed on the website will still work after the gift cards stop working.
A quick PSA - I would consider picking up any free to play games and dlc for the ones that interest you. Also, I would suggest installing custom firmware as that will be the only way to play games that you missed out on after 2023. There's currently an archive [HShop] that has 98% of games from various regions. There's plenty of Nintendo/3rd party games that were only on the Japanese eShop.
One of the first videos I stumbled upon after looking into games to get was the first of these videos, and now I’ve stumbled upon the second right after upload! Thanks for all the info
While it is true that the average consumer will assume it's all over when they can't use credit cards anymore, what isn't helping are influencers (not you specifically) are neglecting to mention that tying your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account also ties your eShop wallet together, so you can add funds either via the website or your Switch and use those funds on the 3DS and Wii U until next year.
Ooh yeah, that is a good work around. Obviously I can't speak on behalf of everyone who covers this sort of stuff, but I do always try to get information as accurate as possible, hence calling out my own Wii U Video (and you can bet I definitely hated hearing myself say "March 23rd" when I meant "May 23rd" while editing haha). If I could somehow throw that into this video, I definitely would, though.
I've watched multiple videos on what games to pick up but this list is by far my favorite. I've actually picked up the box boy trilogy already, I'm going for the old Pokémon games and The legend of Zelda Ages, Seasons and DX! Thanks for the help!
20:23 Noteable about the VC Pokémon Games. They were changed in another regard: You can trade between Red/Blue/Yellow or Gold/Silver/Crystal. Which is very valuable given Trade Evolutions exist.
@@dror843 Jep. Another 3DS with a (compatible) VC Pokémon Game on it to connect to. Otherwise it's the exact same as it was back then. Just with less cable and faster responses.
@@catriamflockentanz thing is you cant add funds anymore. You can merge with switch but only with one NNIDS. Can i moveets say pokemon from red to pokebank and then from no to crystal maybe?
@@dror843 I don't know. I've never tried it. I think VC to Pokébank is an irreversible one way road though. You should look into it on Bulbapedia. If I recall correctly they have a big breakdown of the Cans & Cannots of Pokébank.
Another digital game with an expensive physical version I would recommend is Stella Glow. It's a tactical RPG with really good music and it comes with a free theme when bought digitally.
I feel like that's a theme with RPGs in general. Like, more so than a lot of other genres, they just become exceedingly rare and expensive rather quickly.
You’ll be able to buy games until the shops close next year if you link your systems trough your account, if you add funds to the Switch those funds will be usable on the Wii U and 3DS
Thanks man! Honestly I was unsure if people would be upset about the unedited insert or not, but it was bugging me too much, so I had to say something haha.
Came here from JRose's channel, really appreciate this video! I need to make sure I get the Fire Emblem Fates DLC. Good call. Also, I downloaded Pokemon Crystal a couple weeks ago (getting the money on to the account was a huge hassle) and it has definitely been worth it. I played the crap out of Silver as a kid but this was actually my first time playing through Crystal. Probably should get a Gen 1 game as well while I still can. And a big one you didn't mention in the video is the Pokemon Sun and Moon Demo. This is going to be the only way to get a legit Battle Bond Greninja for the foreseeable future so definitely want to get that if you haven't already,.
This is the best video on the topic because of how well organized you made it. I have been wanting to get GB games and most video's only cover 3DS only games. Most games I would recommend you already talked about
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, honestly there are a TON more Gameboy games that could have been added, realistically, and I did kind of have a feeling that a lot videos might sort of gloss over the Gameboy stuff in favor of more typical 3DS titles (which, I mean, is understandable, assuming people are just covering what games they themselves enjoy haha), but to me, Gameboy titles are super important too. Especially since so many people now a days don't even OWN a gameboy.
My recommendation is the "Silver Falls" series, which is an indie series of survival horror games on 3DS that emulate the vibe and look of "Silent Hill" and "Resident Evil"... and looks almost as good as those name-brand series at times. Amazingly, the developer is going to be making releasing MORE of them for both the Wii U and 3DS throughout 2022! So, I hope people will check those out and consider giving them some support.
@@SimplyAJ I was pretty surprised too, but according to the dev's RUclips page, they had some talks with Nintendo about deadlines and somehow managed to work it all out.
Absolutely! Honestly, even though I KNEW I was missing a ton of games, I still kind of kick myself for leaving so much off, but only so much I can cover in such a limited time haha.
Great video! I have been playing Wario Land 3 here and there. Its a tough game that kind of mixes platforming with puzzles. I have 30 really good games loaded onto my 3ds... Its impressive having games like Ocarina of Time and all the DKCs all ready to play portable anytime. The 3ds is a beast
I haven't tried 3 yet, but I probably should. I played 4 a few years back. I might honestly give 2 another go and see if I can get into it this go around, since I really did love 1 so much. Yeah the 3DS was definitely pretty damn impressive!
Damn nintendo really sucks with the NEW 3DS XL . I'd love to play those titles. I mean I can get them on my phone through roms and emulators, but touch screen blows. Having buttons are way superior 5
AJ putting in the work so the rest of us can just buy and play video games. Great video. Also “It’s Wario so you KNOW he’s dirty” might be the best ad I’ve ever heard for a Wario game.
To anyone who likes Super Mario Land 2 or wants to check it out: By all means, find a way to play it on the Super Game Boy. Being able to pick your own colors elevates the game to a whole new level. I spent days as a child trying out different color combinations - either ones that fit the scene perfectly, super whacky ones that made the levels more challenging or creepy stuff like making the water in the whale stage red. It might sound gimmicky, but honestly, it makes a great game perfect.
Well done video! Did not mind the pop-ins, appreciated the extra info. Also worth checking out is the last chance for DSiWare, some good stuff there. Also also download every single update you can find. Even if you don't have the game now, you may pick it up in the future!
Glad ya enjoyed it! And yeah 100%, all those updates are super necessary as well. Honestly, there's just SO much on there to get, but, happy to see how many people are making suggestions as well.
A game I’d HIGHLY recommend is Yokai Watch 3. Its an immensely charming game that takes place in a country named BBQ; a parody of western America. The writing is witty and fun (fans of Earthbound would like it!) and the gameplay is much more engaging and strategic then your typical turn-based RPG. The game uses a real-time combat grid system making it unique from the previous 2 games in the series. This 3rd game is also considered by many to be the one of if not the best in the series. Although it technically isn’t a digital-only game, so few physical copies were made it is currently one of the most expensive 3DS games to buy. If you’re a fan of Pokémon please pick this up! As someone who’s a fan of the series it’s very sad to see the closure of the eshop make an already obscure game fade into a state of limbo. I know other games in the monster taming genre tend to be ignored and just called “Pokémon clones”, but as a fan of Pokémon and Yugioh, Yokai Watch is easily able to stand out from the rest. Rant over lmao
This was a series I was always interested in getting into, because I do enjoy monster taming games (be it Pokemon, Dragon Quest Monsters, Ni No Kuni, etc). I just looked up the 3rd game physically. Yeah, you weren't kiddin' about it being expensive. Jeez haha.
@@SimplyAJ Yeah… it’s really nutty lmao. As much as I love (and will always prefer) physical media, it’s hard for me to spend $200~ on something I could just get for $40. Between the limited run and the now closing eshop, the prices are only going up from here lol. Loved your video, keep up the great work!
@@soto9128 The first one is my personal favorite, it’s really solid. All the games are really good (even 2 though it’s the “weakest” in the series). The 1st game can be found for really cheap so I’d highly recommend trying it out I personally got a good deal, $5 for a brand new and sealed copy. It uses a similar real-time combat system as the 3rd game, but the 1st 2 in the series use a rotation and mingame system… it’s a little hard to explain but some gameplay clips on RUclips should do the trick if you’re interested about gameplay.
Dang 10 hours a day for this video alone?? The fact that you care that much doing what you do and helping us out is awesome. Much appreciated. Had to sub and stick around to support 👍🏽
Thanks, I definitely appreciate it! Yeah, the whole thing is... a process haha. If you're interested in stats: Writing the Script took about 8 hours (especially cause I had to do research on so many games) Shooting took roughly 2 and a half hours Editing is the real bottle neck though. About 10 hours each session, and that also includes either gathering footage, which means either trying to find a decent trailer, or, in the case of quite a few of these (All three Zelda games, Goemon, etc) taking the time to play them and record the footage myself to try to pair up what it is I'm talking about to what's on screen. For a video like this, it was about 55 hours total. Normally my videos don't take THAT long, but it's much different gathering footage and talking about 47 games as opposed to just getting the footage from a SINGLE game like in my JAVA vids haha. All in all though, I genuinely have fun doing it. Maybe one day I'll make a video talking about the whole process, in case anyone is ever interested to hearing about it haha.
@@SimplyAJ That would be cool! Especially because loads of people underestimate and underappreciate how much work you guys put in for us. Just hope you keep enjoying what you do without getting too overwhelmed because your videos come out great dude
@@MachhJuann Thanks again, I really do appreciate it! And yeah I mean, I try to give myself ample time between videos to rest anyway. It's why I typically only upload like once a month (cause I do work a full time job at night as well). Which ya know, of course isn't "up to par" with other channels, but I'm also not gonna put myself in a situation where I'm unhappy and burnt out just to try to get some extra views haha. It's all just fun, for me anyway.
I don’t know if anyone already commented this but if you have Pokémon bank make sure you download Poké transporter too. From what I know (please correct me if I’m wrong) transporter allows you to move mons from ds to 3ds, and then bank moves them from 3ds to switch. It’s a bit tricky because you can only access it through Pokémon bank as it’s not actually on the eshop. I’m also not sure if it will be available to download when bank goes free to use so I just paid for a year pass and was able to access it. That way there’s no “ifs” about it. Hope this helps somebody.
Ooh yeah that's definitely good to know! Yeah it's kind of crazy how easily people are going to miss out on being bale to transfer their Pokemon from older games to new ones.
Good picks, AJ! I immediately downloaded Pokemon Home and will definitely go back for some others soon. And since you asked for suggestions... I take every chance that I get to bring more attention to a little known NES game called The Mysterious Murasame Castle. It was developed by Nintendo at the same time that they were developing The Legend Of Zelda. It's essentially the Japanese equivalent of Zelda, though more liniar, that's really only gotten attention in Super Smash Bros in the form of trophies and spirits. No sequels, no physical release outside of Japan and is a digital-only game on the 3DS (possibly the WII U too, but I don't have access to the Wii U's shop to confirm).
Ooh, I just watched a trailer for that. It has a very The Magic of Scheherazade feel to it, it looks like. I'll definitely have to scoop this one up, thanks for the suggestion!
About 4 years I was at Walmart and they had about 8 different 3ds title games and when I went to check their prices they were ringing up for 10¢ each! Of course I bought everything they had but the reason they were so cheap was they were deleted items but I got some great titles.
I heard this was on Switch as well, but from my understanding it's like... a really watered down port? I haven't played it myself, but if that's the case, definitely a shame if the good version is trapped on 3DS
@@SimplyAJ Yeah the switch version is real disappointing. The console in mind was absolutely the 3DS, and you should get that version. I own every version available (I might have a bit of an obsession) and I could probably rank all of them from best to worst.
For the love of god people, if you are at all into “quirky Japanesy” games get Attack of the Friday monsters. Just a beautiful - if short - game. And who knows, if enough people buy it, we may someday get Kaz Ayabe’s other games Wesyetbized.
I think Pokemon Bank required another tool (only available within Bank) called Poké Transfer, and it costs about 5 bucks get it for one year-once the eshop closes and you cant but things, missing that tool will mean you can’t transfer pokemon! If others know more, pls explain below.
One game that I LOVED was Sakura Samurai Legend. I never hear ANYONE talk about it. It's a really interesting take on sword combat, focusing more on timing than brute force. It makes you feel like a real samurai, requiring you to know the perfect time to make your attack. I highly recommend it. My only issue is that it's a little repetitive but it's definitely worth a try if you haven't played it
Please do a JAVA series on Ages & Seasons. It's so frustrating how game preservation has been an afterthought in recent years. So many classic titles lost to time. I'm not going on a game preservation rant here.
I agree both games criminally underrated and hardly ever talked about. Zelda franchise has some great portable releases and Ages & Seasons legit need more love.
@@CallieIk with all the games remade/rebooted in the series its surprising this never got that treatment. Or even a collection! Prolly cause capcoms involvement but imagine a 3d remake of both! Would print all the money!
Oh yeah for sure. Like, those games are legendary to me. I feel like the cut third game will always be my video game white whale, something I crave information for, but probably won't ever fully get haha.
Thank you for covering the Dillon Trillogy from my tweet. Thanks for mentioning Dragon Quest 8, Shin Megami Tensei 4 n Apocalypse. (I tweeted to) SMT4 has a great story, unique twist that isn't done in any other jrpg, SMT4 strongly focuses on the press turn system + constant fast team re positioning where team adapating is mandatory to win I find it harder and more rewarding to beat than most Atlus games including the recent SMT5 which was... alright. Dragon Quest 8 is like a chill relaxing whimsical adventure which is odd to say. But the art style, the adventure, strong writing and tight voice casting makes the adventure a ton of fun to relive. I always go and recomplete this game once every 2 years on ps2/3DS. 3DS version adds alot of cool stuff while also trimming out the fat that kinda plagued the ps2 version. Dillon series tho it's niche', I refuse to let this series die, visual presentation is amazing and gets better with each game with it's soft reboot DHB being the best also im glad its a very easy game cus the first two games aren't casual friendly but rewarding to beat if you can get into the groove of this game.
Yeah of course! I had actually thrown your name in the special thanks part of the video description too! Definitely would love to see more Dillon in the future, 100% agree. DQ VIII is actually probably my favorite, even if like XI is technically the "better" game. Just something about that world map theme in DQ VIII is so damn peaceful, it really does draw you back.
@@SimplyAJ Thank you for adding me to the special thanks section :D. The DRW n DHB trillogy is very good but the first 2 games weren't casual at all. you had to do quests n objectives so quickly like it was Deadrising or Majora's mask and they're very stingy on how quick you have to do it. DHB is the easiest, I even went n bought a bunch of physical copies (they cost £5 to £10 in the UK on ebay n amazon) n gifted them to some friends and my brother. They prefer this over the other 2 because of how easy DHB and how unforgiving the first two DRW games were. I'm used to multi tasking n quick reaction n stragety games but sometimes in DRW1 n 2 I was like "man could've given me an extra few seconds?". DQ 8 and 11 are both dope but 11 did take me out of the experience at times. It's a personal nit pick of the overworld being too segmented while DQ8 each section of the overworld only had to load if you went to a half way point of a continent or you entered an area by Birb or Boat. DQ11 was way too easy I never not once got downed during the main story. It's not a silly gamer flex as stupid as I mention it here. But at the same time me recommending DQ11 to more people who hate dying so much... they actually liked the game for it being too easy among with it's lovely cute charm and story. Oh and thanks again for mentioning SMT4. I won't mention too much cus this post is a lil too long but that is a great rpg that differs from the common jrpg norms.
You know, I've never actually played a Lufia game, but it's always been a series I see and go "I should check this out!" and then... totally forget haha. But yeah great suggestion!
@@jerfre500 Yeah, had a couple of comments about Yo Kai Watch 3, so definitely sounds like one worth getting. I looked up the price physically and definitely is climbing. Good suggestion!
Here's some 10 games that you might be interested in. Make sure you research them a bit because I'm not sure if some of them got released in other platforms: 1. Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword 2. 50 PINCH BARRAGE!! 3. Liberation Maiden 4. Sadame 5. Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D 6. The Starship Damrey 7. Proun+ 8. Zombie Incident 9. Ninja Battle Heroes 10. Weapon Shop de Omasse
I've been working on a 3ds wishlist just so that I don't forget anything so that I can try and snag what I want before it's too late. I just wish a lot of physical games weren't skyrocketing in price :/
Thanks dude. A lot of it is just luck, but regardless I make these cause I genuinely enjoy doing so. Obviously I'd love it if suddenly the channel blew up, but either way, I'm still blown away by the audience and comments I've received so far haha.
I think Lufia the Legend Returns for the Gameboy Color and Avenging Spirt for Gameboy should definitely be on the list. Also Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya and Tails' Adventure for Game Gear unless they are easily available somewhere else I'm unaware of.
Thanks! Yeah I tried to cover as much as possible without making the videos unbearably long haha. There's obviously so much more, but, there's some really great suggestions in the pinned comment too.
Definitely! I think the weird thing is, comparing playing them then vs playing them now. As a kid, I felt like I could play them endlessly forEVER and always have stuff to do. Now, I realize "oh these are like.. an hour long" haha
Here's one oddball choice--Code of Princess. Yes, there's an updated version of the game on Switch, but it changes the leveling system in a way I didn't care for (you no longer get to choose how to spend your skill points).
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Really wanted to find a good medium between "just listing games" but also being informative, and for the most part, the list primarily consists of games I myself enjoy, cause I think it's certainly easier to talk about a game if you actually enjoy it yourself haha.
New subscriber here. Thanks for this excellent video! I missed the original release of the 3ds so I got a new-to-me system at the start of quarantine. Started building my collection then (yes I’m probably part of the reason prices started going up. Sorry!) I’m still missing many of these titles so I really appreciate the chance to pick them up before the eshop closes, especially the Fire Emblem DLC.
Hey there! Well first of all, thanks for the sub, I really appreciate it! Glad that you were able to find some cool titles from this video though! But yeah, never feel bad for collecting games! The reason the prices are going up is because of resellers artificially inflating the market, not people just trying to build their own private game collections haha.
This really depresses me. I received a 3ds a couple years ago and due to the nightmare financial issues tied to my health I only ever managed to own Majora's Mask and borrowed Ocarina from my brother. I always wanted to try the gameboy Zelda games and the old pokemon games on the eshop, but it's always been one of those things to put off for better times when things improve. Now I'm pretty sure I'm going to miss that window. Thank you for letting everyone know this is happening. At least some people will be able to jump on it thanks to you
Damn, sorry to hear that. Well, there's certainly still some time, and while I obviously don't know your situation, here's to hoping that you'll be able to get some funds added to grab the games you want. Thankfully the Gameboy games like Zelda are prettty cheap.
@@SimplyAJ It's unlikely, friend, but thank you for the kind words. I do have one stupid question if, somehow, I can come out a little ahead instead of way behind; is Minish Cap and Link to the Past available on the 3ds eshop? Those are the only other ones I can think of that I've wanted to play for years and it long since snuck by me.
@@TheBuddhaBear So a Link to the Past is on the 3DS eShop, but unfortunately Minish Cap is not. Minish Cap was playable on 3DS for those who got a 3DS early and were part of the "ambassador program," where Nintendo gifted a handful of GBA games that weren't ever released to the public. If you happen to have a Wii U, the Minish Cap IS available on there, though!
Pocket Card Jockey is a game I highly recommend. It's from the Pokemon developers. It has a demo! It's basically you race horses, but their energy comes from playing little micro games of solitaire. It has been so addicting for me.
I will share my story. I read the big e shop closing. Had bought a 128 GB SD CARD 20 dollars. Had to find a good software to format that sd card to FAT 32 so it would work on the 3DS. Than finally hunted down somebody who wasn't as crazy selling a new nintendo 3ds. Got that. I would share the list of all the games and dlc I got if you wanna talk about that with me. But then the new nintendo 3ds I had to buy another 128 GB micro sd card. Did the long asf 3ds to new 3ds transfer. Than finally I made it. I'm literally buying the last 3 games now I need so I survived the e shop closure. I hope everybody can share their crazy e shop closure story with everybody.
Thankfully I have been downloading games since the 3DS came out, I have the ambassador games and some special one time games , I completely filled up one console and had to buy a second one to keep downloading games, I think you can only download about 300 to 350 games no matter what size SD card you have installed. But I still picked up a few of your suggestions that I didn't have thanks!
Severed, Rhythm Heaven Megamix, The Keep, Attack of the Friday Monsters, and some of the more rare games for the Virtual Console, such as Dracula X, Mega Man 7, Mega Man X2 and 3, Avenging Spirit, Gargoyle's Quest, Tails Adventure, Shantae, Legend of the River King 1 and 2, all are worth mentioning in my opinion. The Ace Attorney games along with The 3D Classics are good pick ups as well.
Definitely meant to put the River King games on there. Only reason I didn't include Mega Man 7, Mega Man X2 and Mega Man X3 on here is because they're on those Legacy Collections, so the games themselves are still playable in some form or fashion. Granted, it's still pretty cool to have them on 3DS anyway. All those Virtual Console suggestions are great, thanks so much!
Oh nice! Yeah, I hope ya enjoy'em! For what they are, they're excellent little Mega Man games. Obviously there's some noticeable differences (like, the pellets are so round) but the core experience is still there. I'd love to cover them all in deeper detail some day.
To add on the list of games that are expensive physically, 7th Dragon iii Code: VFD is another game to get. It's another JRPG owned and made by SEGA as well and it's not super cheap, but at an affordable price of 29.99 on the Eshop. Also ALL Atlus games are also good choices to get on the Eshop as all of them are super expensive physically. For SNES Virtual Console, you forgot to add in games like Super Metroid and A Link to the Past on your list. Those games are considered some of the best games the SNES has to offer and owning those on your 3ds is a MUST HAVE. Oh and this is just my opinion, but I think Metroid 2: The Return of Samus should be ditched in favor of Metroid: Samus Returns as the remake not only streamlines the original game mechanics, but also adds in important lore pieces and other new mechanics that makes the game fresh and new.
Yeah, when I was talking about the Shin Megami Tensei series, I probably should have just said "all Atlus games" haha, because they definitely get rare pretty quickly. The only reason I didn't list Super Metroid and A Link to the Past on here was the fact that, Nintendo has a tendency to always put their 1st party games on every new console they release, so I had a feeling that whatever comes out in the future, those will prooooobably be available still too in some form. (Though, Nintendo is also unpredicitable so I could be wrong haha) Samus Returns is definitely the better game over Return of Samus, but I listed the Gameboy one since you can still readily buy Samus Returns pretty cheap physically, but also, pretty much all Gameboy games are "rare" now a days for people who are just now discovering gaming or were too young to own a Gameboy, etc. So figured, it's a piece of history and would be worth checking out. Honestly though, people should just get both haha.
@@SimplyAJ Not only the SMT games, but also the Persona Q games along with the Etrian Odyssey series too. All of them are a necessity if you're a fan of Atlus games. That's the thing: both SNES games are in the Switch. But only for NSO. Which you've stated are only for just renting the games and not owning them. It wouldn't make sense for Nintendo to put both games on both NSO and on Eshop. At least with Nintendo logic involved. So I say it's best to get those SNES games now before any regrets are made. Honestly? That makes a little sense. However, most people would just go for the remake if it's any better than the original. And Metroid is no exception (i.e. Zero Mission). And just like with the first Metroid game, going back to play the second game would be pretty frustrating and unbalanced in some areas.
@@StarForce99 It seems that people forget that the snes classic is a thing. It might be all digital but it's not a suscription service so you keep all your games indefinitely. That one includes super mario rpg, earthbound, super metroid and ALtP. The only first party exclusions are DKC 2 and 3. I've heard the whole "you can't find stock anywhere" but I literally just searched ebay and people are selling them second hand at about original retail price.
@@joakkar Honestly that could possibly work. But not everyone wants to buy another system to play another set of games. It may be an alternative, but some people have different ways of gaming. Idk how the quality the SNES Classic is either, but I only have enough finances to support 1 console. Plus I personally don't care about the quantity of games when I'm only interested in like 3 or 4 that are on the Eshop rn. Can you dig it?
@@StarForce99 the emulation and image quality of both the nes and snes classic is generally considered to be excellent, not to mention it comes with controllers with the exact same feel as original controllers so I don't think quality is an issue here. I'm mainly mentioning it because even the video talks about earthbound becoming permanently inaccessible once 3DS eshop and NSO aren't a thing anymore which is not really true.
One series of games I really like are the witch and hero games basically your on a Journey to try and kill medusa who turned the witch into stone there single screen levels where you fights a bunch of enemies and then a big boss enemy will appear defeat that to finish the level you also lever up to get new which you can buy at the shop with coins you collect from defeating enemies the 1 & 2 are on switch but the 3rd game at the moment is still a 3ds exclusive
Aha, thanks, I appreciate it! They'll come in due time, hopefully anyway! I just enjoy makin' stuff that I myself would watch, so knowing others enjoy it too, is pretty cool!
So far, the only Game Boy games i have (as 3DS VC) are: Kirby's Dream Land 1 & 2, the spin-off Kirby games (Pinball Land, Block Ball and Star Stacker), Super Mario Land 1-3 (the 3rd Super Mario Land game is also known as Wario Land) and all of Mega Man games on Game Boy (from Dr. Wily's Revenge to V). For Game Boy Color games, i only have Super Mario Bros Deluxe.
for the sake of some more examples, obviously you listed SMT IV and SMT IV Apocalypse, but in the same franchise you have Strange Journey Redux, Soul Hackers, Devil Survivor, Devil Survivor 2, Persona Q and Persona Q2, personally I'm playing through Soul Hackers right now and I am loving it, though if you do pick it up, keep in mind it's originally a Sega Saturn game, for some more recommendations we have Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice, the latest mainline trilogy in the Ace Attorney series, there's also Samus Returns, a remake of Metroid II, among plenty others small edit: if you have a base 3DS, you can mod it and convert a rom of the SNES games you want where it'll actually be running in an emu, but it'll show up normally on the 3DS screen, though that's only if you're willing to mod the console
@@SimplyAJ yeah, Soul Hackers is pretty expensive right now especially, I would have gotten it at a nerd shop that's near me, but unless there's a type of 3DS case that I don't know about, it was in a DS case because it had the GBA slot in it
@@weishennie Ahaha, ya know, I sat there while I was editing like "damn, I really wore THAT shirt huh?" but, obviously it as too late haha. Ah well, at least it's something to laugh at! Glad ya liked the video haha.
Growing up I had a gameboy with one gameboy game: Wario Land: Mario Land 3. For me and my 2 brothers, that was enough - it's such an incredible game we got YEARS of fun out of it
I feel that! I played Wario Land for what FELT like forever. Being a kid, who knows how long it really was, but damn it certainly felt like I got a ton of time out of it.
Spent far too little time on 3DS digital exclusives. Mario vs Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars, The Parascientific Escape series, Picross 3D rd 2. Rhythm Heaven Megamix, etc. etc. etc.
All great suggestions! Honestly, I tried to cover games that I myself have played, so I can actually talk about them in a little bit more depth. Would have loved to have covered even more titles, but this alone took a LOT to put together haha. That, and I do feel that a lot of the virtual console stuff is pretty important, since so many of those games don't have any other way to be played as well.
Id reccommend buying the pokemon bank subscription just once for poke transporter, which allows you to transfer from older games like gen 5. Once the pokemon bank subscription is gone it wont be avaliable anymore (At least im pretty sure?) I also love kid icarus: uprising a lot. Amazing cast of characters with a ton of personality and super fun, the only con i can think of is the controls are a little difficult
Yeah you're 100% right about the Pokemon Bank. I've actually never played Kid Icarus but heard nothing but good things about it. Being left handed, I knew it'd be super awkward for me to try, so I just sort of.... skipped it. Maybe one day I'll give it a go, though.
Great list! Heres a list of games I plan on getting either legit or through homebrew. Keep in mind there's some obvious ones missing but I probably already have em. You should also reconsider in lieu of the 3D aspect of some games. What are actually worthwhile for that feature that might appear on other systems, especially if the 3D is well done. This is especially pertinent as a LOT of 3D functional games lack video that showcases the 3D. Some even lack photos that have 3D functionality.
Yeah, I mean, mainly because it's damn near impossible to show the 3D properly in a video or photo. It's a shame though, because while the 3D started off a little.... rough. It definitely got better by the time of the newer 3D models; and yet, by that time, it was like Nintendo ditched even using the 3D altogether haha.
Anyone reading this in 2023, hacking your 3ds is fast and cheap and idiotproof
Important to note: You can still use your credit cards on the switch and the money will be on your Nintendo account. So long as 3ds and Wii U are connected through the account, you will be able to put money on your 3DS/Wii U with the switch. This will work with the Nintendo online store as well. Put money in the wallet on the website and it will be on your Nintendo account on any system that's connected to it.
Also, buying games - sans DLC - on the Wii U and 3DS eShop on an account linked with a switch will count towards earning 5% back in Gold Coins to use for spending money on the Switch's eShop.
yes but the e shop will be permanently closed so u can’t use it .. right?
@@neo_aspect Not until March 2023
WOW THATS COOL, thank you!!!
Thanks! Feels good knowing people have enjoyed the stuff I've made haha.
Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology is excellent but a physical copy is expensive. I would recommend getting it on the eShop.
Ooh yeah another good suggestion! Definitely agree.
It's now on sale until the 17th!
You can get it for free too
Thanks dude, added a few more games to my "things to get before the shutdown" wishlist because of this!
Absolutely, man needs wayy more subs

@@SimplyAJ I got some of those games and get pokemon rador to. I also got dr lugi for the wii u.. I have several 3ds consoles including all versions of the Japan systems.
@@stpworld Yeah the tricky thing will be deciding which one you want to be your "main" 3DS when the time comes haha
Oh, and since you told us to comment on any cool games that are disappearing soon:
3DS (Digital Only):
-Kirby's Blowout Blast
-Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies + DLC
-Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice + DLC

-Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword

-Rusty's Real Deal Baseball
-The "3D Classics" games
-Air Race: Speed + Air Race: Xeno
-Fractured Soul
-Dr. Luigi
Game Boy:
-Legend of the River King 1&2

-Gargoyle's Quest (and the NES sequel)
-Shantae (horribly expensive)

DSI-Ware:
-Mighty Flip Champs
-Mighty Milky Way

-Earthbound (expensive otherwise
Yo this list is GREAT! Oh man Legend of the River King was one I had meant to include originally. Also yeah those 3D Classics titles too, damn there's just so many haha. Like, I knew I was going to be missing a ton, but at the same time, can only cover so much in a video
None of these games are important to me. I already played Earthboundand passed it half a dozen times.
@Nayr the Viking Small correction, Dr. Luigi is exclusive to the Wii U eShop. The Dr. Mario game that is exclusive to the 3DS eShop is Miracle Cure.
you can play SoJ on mobile
this list is awesome! you can also get mighty flip champs via the psp or ps4 store i think
Thank you so much I downloaded stuff the hard way never hear of hshop
hshop rules
One of the first videos I stumbled upon after looking into games to get was the first of these videos, and now I’ve stumbled upon the second right after upload! Thanks for all the info
Sure thing! Hopefully it was of some use!
Thanks.
Back then I ignored the eShop stuff entirely, so I am happy for any video with recommendations.
Glad it could be of some use!
Aha, I appreciate the compliment! Hope you enjoy those games as much as I do, especially the Oracle series!
20:23 Noteable about the VC Pokémon Games. They were changed in another regard: You can trade between Red/Blue/Yellow or Gold/Silver/Crystal. Which is very valuable given Trade Evolutions exist.
Ooh, good to know!
how do i do it? do i need another 3ds or how?
I don't regret my sub after that PSA insert. That's the kind of dedication I like to see. I'm looking forward to this channel's growth.
Thanks for comin' by! Oh yeah I didn't even think about the Sun and Moon Demo, that's a great call!
@@SimplyAJ Yeah, makes sense. I don't own a Gameboy so the 3DS has been my way of getting them.
Friggin genius with the time stamps. You will go far. And I love the palm trees digital background.
Thanks man! Yeah was just trying to make sure it was as useful as possible haha.
Don't forget to link your 3ds and Switch accounts, so you can add funds to switch and spend them on 3ds. Until March 2023.
Oracle games be one java so it could include both games and pass ending. Or two vids but 2nd one includes password ending
Oh wow, I'll definitely have to look into these! Surprised that they are even able to continue releasing games on these platforms though.
@@SimplyAJ I was pretty surprised too, but according to the dev's RUclips page, they had some talks with Nintendo about deadlines and somehow managed to work it all out.
Don’t forget the DSiWare library on the 3DS. There’s some good stuff on there, like Mighty Milky Way and Mighty Flip Champ.
@@SimplyAJ lol
Damn nintendo really sucks with the NEW 3DS XL . I'd love to play those titles. I mean I can get them on my phone through roms and emulators, but touch screen blows. Having buttons are way superior 5

AJ putting in the work so the rest of us can just buy and play video games. Great video.
Also “It’s Wario so you KNOW he’s dirty” might be the best ad I’ve ever heard for a Wario game.
Wario's Dirty Lil Adventure~
You can still do purchases through the eshop on the Nintendo web page through PC or mobile, and also add funds through there
To anyone who likes Super Mario Land 2 or wants to check it out: By all means, find a way to play it on the Super Game Boy.
Don’t forget to Get all that dlc for your rpgs especially the Atlus games and grab those Level 5 games 🥰
What about the first yo kai watch game? Was that one not a good one?
@@soto9128 The first one is my personal favorite, it’s really solid. All the games are really good (even 2 though it’s the “weakest” in the series). The 1st game can be found for really cheap so I’d highly recommend trying it out I personally got a good deal, $5 for a brand new and sealed copy. It uses a similar real-time combat system as the 3rd game, but the 1st 2 in the series use a rotation and mingame system… it’s a little hard to explain but some gameplay clips on RUclips should do the trick if you’re interested about gameplay.
Thank god Jrose shouted you out, I didn't knew about this D:
Dang 10 hours a day for this video alone?? The fact that you care that much doing what you do and helping us out is awesome. Much appreciated. Had to sub and stick around to support 👍🏽
Thanks, I definitely appreciate it! Yeah, the whole thing is... a process haha. If you're interested in stats:
Writing the Script took about 8 hours (especially cause I had to do research on so many games)
Shooting took roughly 2 and a half hours
Editing is the real bottle neck though.
It's all just fun, for me anyway.
never knew of river city knights of justice, getting it.
Thank this man this really helped.
Glad it helped! Hope you were able to snag something before the shut down.
Ahh, that's awesome! Gotta love when pricing errors happen in your favor haha.
Alot of people forget about Zombie Panic In Wonderland DX, but it really is a nice game.
First time viewer, Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to seeing more .
Thanks, glad ya enjoyed it!
thanks for the timestamps and groups. especially the expensive on physical group.
Sure thing, glad it was helpful!
My only issue is that it's a little repetitive but it's definitely worth a try if you haven't played it
It's funny cause someone else JUST brought this up too, so now I'm definitely going to have to look into it.
The Denpa Man Series is also E-Shop exclusive and as a Kid I have so much fun with it.
Please do a JAVA series on Ages & Seasons. It's so frustrating how game preservation has been an afterthought in recent years. So many classic titles lost to time. I'm not going on a game preservation rant here.
Agreed, not enough love for ages and seasons. Plus the extra ending with both games was a (pardon the pun) game changer
I love all your videos. Great format, style, and presentation!
Thanks! That means a lot, cause I do try to put a good emphasis on presentation haha.
Thank you for covering the Dillon Trillogy from my tweet.
Thanks for mentioning Dragon Quest 8, Shin Megami Tensei 4 n Apocalypse. (I tweeted to)
SMT4 has a great story, unique twist that isn't done in any other jrpg, SMT4 strongly focuses on the press turn system + constant fast team re positioning where team adapating is mandatory to win I find it harder and more rewarding to beat than most Atlus games including the recent SMT5 which was...
@@SimplyAJ
Thank you for adding me to the special thanks section :D.
I would also like to recommend Lufia: The legend returns. Even though it's the third game in the Lufia series it can be played on its own.
You know, I've never actually played a Lufia game, but it's always been a series I see and go "I should check this out!" and then... totally forget haha. But yeah great suggestion!
You missed yo Kai watch 3 (it goes for 150 physical and 40 on eShop)
Also yo Kai watch 2 psychic specters is around the 110 mark
@@jerfre500 Yeah, had a couple of comments about Yo Kai Watch 3, so definitely sounds like one worth getting. I looked up the price physically and definitely is climbing. Good suggestion!
We cannot leave out Shantae for the Game Boy Color. This purple hair whipping half-genie should not be missed.
Totally grab as many demos as you can too.
stella glow is also a pretty fun game
I'll have to look into that!
Here's some 10 games that you might be interested in. Make sure you research them a bit because I'm not sure if some of them got released in other platforms:
1. Sakura Samurai: Art of the Sword
2. 50 PINCH BARRAGE!!
3. Liberation Maiden
4. Sadame
5. Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D
6. The Starship Damrey
7. Proun+
8. Zombie Incident
9. Ninja Battle Heroes
10. Weapon Shop de Omasse
Ooh I'll definitely look into these!
i recommend you get rhythm heaven megamix, it’s really fun. it’s the forth game in the rhythm heaven series and didn’t release physically in america.
I've been working on a 3ds wishlist just so that I don't forget anything so that I can try and snag what I want before it's too late. I just wish a lot of physical games weren't skyrocketing in price :/
Yeah, I do too. It's just a damn shame that it makes obtaining physical games that much harder to grab.
Depends if you're against it or not but once the eshop shuts down theres always cfw just get a 128 gb sd card or something and you're good
your content is such high quality! you definitely deserve a sub
Thanks, I appreciate it! I'm always trying to improve it, so I'm glad you've liked what you've seen so far.
@@SimplyAJ I was so surprised when I saw your sub count, you're honestly REALLY underrated
Thanks dude. A lot of it is just luck, but regardless I make these cause I genuinely enjoy doing so. Obviously I'd love it if suddenly the channel blew up, but either way, I'm still blown away by the audience and comments I've received so far haha.
@@SimplyAJ I really hope you make it one day
and I'll keep supporting ya
Definitely get the AR games, it's a feature on the 3ds that no really uses but it's a fun part of what makes the 3ds special
Definitely! It's kind of a shame they didn't do more with it honestly. They were great little games.
I think Lufia the Legend Returns for the Gameboy Color and Avenging Spirt for Gameboy should definitely be on the list. Also Shining Force: The Sword of Hajya and Tails' Adventure for Game Gear unless they are easily available somewhere else I'm unaware of.
Super helpful video. I really enjoy your style and vibe. I’ll stick around and check out more of your content 👌
Thanks dude, I appreciate it! Glad it was helpful for ya.
Dude thank you for these amazing videos. You did an excellent work covering both 3DS and Wii U. Definitely going to grab some of these titles.
Thanks! Yeah I tried to cover as much as possible without making the videos unbearably long haha. There's obviously so much more, but, there's some really great suggestions in the pinned comment too.
super mario land and super mario land 2 are both some of my favorites, stayed up playing those on school nights all the time
Huh, yeah that's certainly a pretty big difference! Definitely noted!
Sadly, unless something has changed, CoP is no longer available on the 3DS eshop.
I've seen like 30 videos about this subject already, but listen to this guy. His hair speaks volumes. That & Ad Victoriam
This is the type of video I've wanted to see about this subject. There are some like this, but never done this well!
@@SimplyAJ Thank you, sir. You have been a great help. Have a good night
Pocket Card Jockey is a game I highly recommend. It's from the Pokemon developers. It has a demo! It's basically you race horses, but their energy comes from playing little micro games of solitaire. It has been so addicting for me.
Oooh sounds neat! Yeah I'll definitely snag the demo and check it out.
The sega game sale going on right now is too good to miss
You can add funds between August 2022 and March of 2023 if you have your nintendo network ID (wii u/3ds) and your switch account linked.
Oh nice! Damn that's a ton, I don't have NEARLY that many downloaded, but I do grab a couple more each week haha.
You made me reconsider picking up a Game Boy Mega Man game! I thought they were all just remixes of the NES games. Thanks a bunch!
Oh nice! Yeah, I hope ya enjoy'em! For what they are, they're excellent little Mega Man games. Obviously there's some noticeable differences (like, the pellets are so round) but the core experience is still there. I'd love to cover them all in deeper detail some day.
Hell ya! Been waiting on this vid!!
(Though, Nintendo is also unpredicitable so I could be wrong haha)
Samus Returns is definitely the better game over Return of Samus, but I listed the Gameboy one since you can still readily buy Samus Returns pretty cheap physically, but also, pretty much all Gameboy games are "rare" now a days for people who are just now discovering gaming or were too young to own a Gameboy, etc.
Here from Jrose11. Enjoyed your vids so far ^^
Thanks so much, glad you're enjoying them!
Amazing well edited video man! Absolutely loved Pushmo!
Thank you! Honestly feels good knowing that someone enjoys my editing as well haha.
dude you need more subs i enjoyed the video
Aha, thanks, I appreciate it! They'll come in due time, hopefully anyway! I just enjoy makin' stuff that I myself would watch, so knowing others enjoy it too, is pretty cool!
Man, thank you so much for this video. ❤️
Glad ya enjoyed it!
Summer Carnival 92 is also pretty interesting considering it's a rare game that's a niche part of gaming history.
I just went and looked up some footage, looks pretty neat! Big Gradius vibes from it.
So far, the only Game Boy games i have (as 3DS VC) are:
Kirby's Dream Land 1 & 2, the spin-off Kirby games (Pinball Land, Block Ball and Star Stacker), Super Mario Land 1-3 (the 3rd Super Mario Land game is also known as Wario Land) and all of Mega Man games on Game Boy (from Dr. Wily's Revenge to V).
For Game Boy Color games, i only have Super Mario Bros Deluxe.
Oh wow, I can't believe I left off Kirby's Dreamland 1 and 2! Definitely a good call on those.
for the sake of some more examples, obviously you listed SMT IV and SMT IV Apocalypse, but in the same franchise you have Strange Journey Redux, Soul Hackers, Devil Survivor, Devil Survivor 2, Persona Q and Persona Q2, personally I'm playing through Soul Hackers right now and I am loving it, though if you do pick it up, keep in mind it's originally a Sega Saturn game, for some more recommendations we have Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice, the latest mainline trilogy in the Ace Attorney series, there's also Samus Returns, a remake of Metroid II, among plenty others
small edit: if you have a base 3DS, you can mod it and convert a rom of the SNES games you want where it'll actually be running in an emu, but it'll show up normally on the 3DS screen, though that's only if you're willing to mod the console
Yeah truth be told I'd almost have been better off saying "all Atlus games" since they become quite rare fast. But yeah definitely good suggestions!
@@SimplyAJ yeah, Soul Hackers is pretty expensive right now especially, I would have gotten it at a nerd shop that's near me, but unless there's a type of 3DS case that I don't know about, it was in a DS case because it had the GBA slot in it
What’s been cracking me up the whole video is his PlayStation shirt in a Nintendo video
Good video though!
Also check the e shop on Thursday for sales right now the monster hunter games are on Sale 😊
Can't believe I forgot to mention Monster Hunter in some form or fashion!
Lufia : the legend returns
There is 4th box boy game and only available digitally on switch
Id reccommend buying the pokemon bank subscription just once for poke transporter, which allows you to transfer from older games like gen 5. Once the pokemon bank subscription is gone it wont be avaliable anymore (At least im pretty sure?)
I also love kid icarus: uprising a lot.
Just wanted to share for others benefit.

Super helpful. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Got pretty much all the gams I want, Rolling Western does look good, since there's no physical copy of that I probably will get that digitally!
Yeah definitely a neat little series, one worth checkin' out for sure!
This was helpful, thanks!
Glad it helped!
Such a well made video! Thank you so much
Absolutely, glad you enjoyed it!
Question: Should I get the DLC for Monster Hunter Generations even if I own Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate?
I mean honestly, why not? haha
I like your hair style!
Aha thanks!
