Chris Carter Yeah but how many people can afford that new honda RC213v bike? lol That's a six figure bike for the one percenters. Almost every rider can afford this new R1. Yamaha is starting to win me over.
Chris Carter Honda is lazy, they just took an old motogp bike and put on headlights and tail light to make it street legal. Honda has more resources than all of the bike companies, there is no reason why they can't make a sick new blade to trump the competition.
04:10 "I makes riding fun". Glad to hear that since riding bikes is currently such a pain in the butt. I dread every time I have to go ride the Daytona. It's just so fast and nimble that it's boring. I REALLY want this bike now that I know it's fun!
Yeah, I can't even count on one hand anymore how many times I have fallen asleep due to my 675 being so boring to ride. Now I can finally buy a bike that will keep me awake.
The tech that's being squeezed into latest bikes is seriously impressive. Its amazing how far they've come over just the last 20 years. Sadly this is out of my price range at the moment, but damn it looks sweet in the video's.
Dude, you forgot to mention the greatest new feature of that bike which is slide control. It allows normal riders to square off corners like a moto GP driver. I imagine it is because he is impressed with the bike.
CAn't wait to get one, think I'll hace to pawn my wife or something to get it, but it just blows me away! Thank you Yamaha for upping the ante so much in an accesible manner (not like the Kawa H2)
Looks like Yamaha has knocked it out of the park with this one! My first motorcycle was a Yamaha way back in 1967. Too much motorcycle for me though on public roads, and no race-tracks around here. My light little modified Triumph STR 675 is a danger to my driver's license as it is!
Sorry I meant Panigale R. Yea there are no 1299r and they don't make the 1199r anymore. I keep thinking the Panigale R is called the 1299r. So a Pani R vs R1 LM No much press release for the new RSV4 just some specs about being over 200hp.
MrPanda415 1299 and 1299s is correct and continued the 1199cc displacement for MotoGP bikes since they cant go over 1200cc's... but they dropped the 1199 in the name its just PanigaleR now. still makes the power and torque of the 1299engines but weighs less ;) :D PanigaleR for the WIN!!
At what point does the electronics overide the rider? When do you stop riding the bike and the bike rides itself for you?My 07 R1 was the last of the R1's 07-08 was the year of the beast!
Are there any differences between the 2015 R1 and the 2016 R1? I'm going in on tuesday to buy a 2015 R1 but am willing to spend the extra $$$ if the 2016 R1 has something to offer... But I can't find any differences except a minor decal change on the front of the bike and the transmission issue ( Which will be fixed if i buy the 2015 model).
"...feels slower than it is..." Probably because it is slower than Adam was expecting, and he's being nice. With the oversquare design it should have a better top end than the 1st gen Crossplane R1. Maybe it will be like the 1st gen Aprilia RSV4, putting down the fastest lap times with nearly the least HP of the liter class. Time will tell...
Would have actually liked some detailed specs and more details. Super ominous review, is it fast like 175whp or 140whp? Gearing? Wet weight? They don't compare the bike to any other specific models to give you something to compare the bike too. I felt like this video was made by Yamaha to sell the bike to inexperienced riders. The reviewer reiterates the fact of how "easy" it is ride. Sounds like a decent choice for someone who's only concern is rider aids, and flashing lights.
Adam Waheed That is FLIPPIN AWSOME! Are you guys going to pick an interesting venue this time or just the same old place? I say you gotta figure out a way to do this shootout at Mugello. Would that rock or what?!?
I have a question for everyone here, so i learned how to ride a bike on a 2001 sazuki SV 650, but i learned how to go like 90 mph and still control the bike on a KTM RC 390. would this bike be a good move for me to ride on the street and have as my main bike, to take me everywhere on? im 17 right now and wondering if this is a good move as a “starter bike”
Adam...important question...since you have ridden both the Panigale 1299S and the 2015 R1 (not the R1M) which one will you pick the best choice for 80 percent track and 20percent street use? Lets forget about the looks. Performance wise and technology
Adam Waheed Smackdown, Adam, it's time for the MUSA crew to do a smackdown! It's long overdue. We need to know which of these new bikes is gonna rise to the top! And besides, you KNOW you want to! :-) And you should do it at Mugello. Now would that be a proper setting for a smackdown or what?!?
I understand, brother. One can dream, though! I am more than cool with whatever venue is chosen. I'm just eager to see the event happen. What will the rider lineup be?
I was thinking of getting this 2007 YZF R1 in black and gold, is this a good bike for a beginner? I don't like the other shitty recommendations like this KTM 390 or the Honda Grom.
Start small for about 6 months and sell it after. Depending on which bike you get, you could probably sell it for more than you bought, if you buy used at least
+Juniorr Here The shadow should be ok for a beginner, just practice your braking over and over and over again so you know how to brake in an emergency situation and take the rider safety course. Do not start on a 1k super bike.
+Mhond German If seat height is your concern, it might be an issue if you want to be able to touch down both feet at stop lights and intersections. I'm 5'6" and I can touch both feet down but I'm already on the tips of my toes. It's alright for me, but I don't plan on using it as a daily ride.
Most MotoGP riders agree that Electronics have taken away some of the spectacle and emotion of the racing and I agree. The first years of the four stroke era are still the best races to watch. In light of this why make this the basis for selling a motorcycle? I have an 08 CBR1000RR I ride in all weather I don't need or want TC. The bike is just designed well it has a beautiful mechanical balance. I am not entirely against electronics. I love electronic suspension systems. But I don't need a throttle Nannie. Nor do I want one. In my 2006 GTO I always turned that annoying traction control off ( unless my wife was driving). TC is for selling Volvo's to soccer moms, not liter bikes to real riders. But hey if it's good enough for Valentino...guess I better get with the program.
Damn...sounds amazing. Now only if my stiff knees and hip and my achey back and ever generous paunch would allow me to comfortably swing a leg over.. Ahh..at some point some of has have to say "no mas" to the repli-racer...the body is giving up the ghost, tho the spirit is still excited as it was when the 2004 came out..
It comes over as a fantastic bike....for the track! Out on the road.... with a17 litre fuel tank and that over square motor, good for about 210klms from my take.. about 131 miles...if you are 'riding' it! .... ( note - I only read comments from people with real names and their photo... because hiding behind alias make overs do not count in any forum...waste of space period!)
great job there Yamaha, the bike looks fantastic idd! love the R1 now make us a new and shiny supermoto in the 300-500cc range............pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaase :')
+Chris Fokjohn I have ridden one, and dont get me wrong they sound great, but Ive seen 3rd world low-end 250s 150s with funny bass-rich ricer exhausts and was surprised to find they actually sound very similar! I mean, with an exhaust exclusively(ricer) tuned for bassy sound this guys make little 2 cylinder delivery bikes sound similar to Ducati's (very similar), yet you can not get a similar sound to a conventional screaming high-rpm racing L4 from anything in the world period. I think the hype that screaming L4s are "generic" and "plain" is total BS and a dilution we only believe in 1st world countries.
Honda is not into putting more HP on there bikes especially the fireblade and that is there policy, why have more horse power just to have the electronics take over when you run out of skill/talent if you only want to go fast in a straight line then wait for the Kawasaki.
HATE those front headlights, other than that which is the greatest turn-off...it looks great. Because of those hideous headlights, I can't see myself buying this bike.
I honestly hate the styling... but then again I'm a Ducati fan. can't compare the looks of a Panigale to anything. #PanigaleR is still the best! ;) IMHO
Looks like yamaha has a winner, now Honda needs to step up their game.
Not to mention Suzuki......
Honda did. They got that expensive street gp bike that has great rwhp etc. Only brand still stuck in the dark ages is suzuki
Chris Carter Yeah but how many people can afford that new honda RC213v bike? lol That's a six figure bike for the one percenters. Almost every rider can afford this new R1. Yamaha is starting to win me over.
CycleCruza that's true. But Honda did bring out an new model lol. Even though they want your retirement plan to own it, it's out there.
Chris Carter Honda is lazy, they just took an old motogp bike and put on headlights and tail light to make it street legal. Honda has more resources than all of the bike companies, there is no reason why they can't make a sick new blade to trump the competition.
I have to admit the New R1 is growing on me I love that they stuck with the cross plain engine. It still has that V8 rumble :D
It still has that amazing sound!! I am pleased now!!!
04:10 "I makes riding fun". Glad to hear that since riding bikes is currently such a pain in the butt. I dread every time I have to go ride the Daytona. It's just so fast and nimble that it's boring. I REALLY want this bike now that I know it's fun!
Professionalism at its finest
Your Fast Life! I think he meant that it feels like a video game lol.
TwitchRxZ Riding has always felt like a video game to me :)
***** Oh, you have this bike already? :)
Yeah, I can't even count on one hand anymore how many times I have fallen asleep due to my 675 being so boring to ride. Now I can finally buy a bike that will keep me awake.
Adam is my goto guy when it comes to reviewing bikes. One of the best on RUclips.
That sound, wow, and its a hell of alot better looking than a s1000rr,
Gorgeous in black.
I'm kinda glad that I'm only 15. Because when I'm 18 or 19, this bike won't be the newest shit anymore and I can actually afford it
That's my story too. Haha
If you buy this at 18, well... Hope you're paying your own insurance and you don't plan on living long enough to have kids...
You’re now 18 and I’m sad to inform you it is indeed still expensive as shit
@@jaysweatshirt9884 about to snatch one up for 9 grand
did you get it
Wonderful to see the latest tech in production road bikes. Well done Yamaha.
Thank you Yamaha for bringing us such an amazing motorcycle. My friends, it is a great time to be a motorcycle rider!
Just loving these MotoUSA reviews.
Keep them coming.
The tech that's being squeezed into latest bikes is seriously impressive. Its amazing how far they've come over just the last 20 years. Sadly this is out of my price range at the moment, but damn it looks sweet in the video's.
This is a phenomenal review. hitting all the points that matter from a human perspective. Thanks for another good one Motorcycle USA!
Yamaha KILLLLLED it with this bike... I love the LED dash! that's awesome.. looks super nice way nicer than the previous model.
Just bought a 2016 FZ-09 and now I want a R1!!
I wish insurance wasn't so crazy expensive. I do love mine though. Great bike!
Looks good too, Yamaha did a great job designing the thing
How does it ride compared to the s1000rr mainly on the twisties.
Sadistic Pink I already own a ZX6R '05 and am happy with it in the twisties. And it is 30kg lighter than a CBR.
Dude, you forgot to mention the greatest new feature of that bike which is slide control.
It allows normal riders to square off corners like a moto GP driver. I imagine it is because he is impressed with the bike.
And here I am on my 15 year old technology drz400sm after selling my sportbikes and loving riding more than I ever have
I've owned (3) new R1s... '98, '01, '04... Would love to add this to my R1 list.
Very nice to see Yamaha come back with vengeance.
UPDATE: Best bike MCN shootout 2015, second place: S1000RR
Great review. Great video.
Love Love Freaking LOVE the New R1 Look!
I didn't know the supreme leader was doing motorcycle reviews these days...
I love the look of the R1, it is edgy and different and its "face" looks like the Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth.
God damn this bike is awesome! No lie I'd probably feel a little nervous riding it for the first time haha!
i really enjoy my 15 r6
one day ill get its big brother, the r1
Can't wait for the 1299s vs s1000rr vs r1
and a 1299r vs r1lm
There isn't any 1299r only 1199r
DinhoPilot have you been living under a rock?
you forgot new rsv4 beast :)
Sorry I meant Panigale R. Yea there are no 1299r and they don't make the 1199r anymore. I keep thinking the Panigale R is called the 1299r.
So a Pani R vs R1 LM
No much press release for the new RSV4 just some specs about being over 200hp.

Finally yamaha came out with a bad ass liter bike
black looks pretty slick
Good move, yamaha, now the R6 please:)
And one of my favorites too
At what point does the electronics overide the rider? When do you stop riding the bike and the bike rides itself for you?My 07 R1 was the last of the R1's 07-08 was the year of the beast!
I'd have it in black looks awesome! Needs a black can too though
My dream bike
Welcome to Sydney
Australia
Are there any differences between the 2015 R1 and the 2016 R1? I'm going in on tuesday to buy a 2015 R1 but am willing to spend the extra $$$ if the 2016 R1 has something to offer... But I can't find any differences except a minor decal change on the front of the bike and the transmission issue ( Which will be fixed if i buy the 2015 model).
will production ever get close to MotoGP bikes? or are they almost there already?
I have FZ 16 I love it....
Waheed looks very happy.
Great review bro. You've cracked the code LoL.
Waheed cleans up pretty good haha!
Awesome.
Wow that's so awesome , How much money buy this one bike ?
+sung sam Just saw it at a dealership yesterday. about $17,500 USD out the door.
So, when is the 2015 Superbike Shootout (or smack down, whatever it is called) Coming out?
You can expect to see it this coming April, toward the end of the month.
Awesome, Thanks Adam Waheed
Adam Waheed That is FLIPPIN AWSOME! Are you guys going to pick an interesting venue this time or just the same old place? I say you gotta figure out a way to do this shootout at Mugello. Would that rock or what?!?

Fucking do it
yes yamaha
!
Adam...important question...since you have ridden both the Panigale 1299S and the 2015 R1 (not the R1M) which one will you pick the best choice for 80 percent track and 20percent street use? Lets forget about the looks. Performance wise and technology
I would buy the R1M. That is the motorcycle for me.
It would be awesome to do a big shootout at Mugello but it would be next to impossible :( - we'll do something cool in SoCal in the next few months...
I understand, brother. One can dream, though! I am more than cool with whatever venue is chosen. I'm just eager to see the event happen. What will the rider lineup be?
Adam Waheed when you do the smack down , please use a flashed ecu for the R1 to get all of the horsepower out of it.
The price is also pretty insane as well as the bike...
I feel like this body type should be their R6. I mean, what makes an R1 besides 999cc is the center exhaust and the front headlights.
Is this road legal in the UK ?
If it's called motorcycle usa why were you in Australia?
2015 r1 😍😍😍😍😍😍
+motousa guys can we expect a review of the r1 s ???
+Issac Jacob - we have no plans for that at this time... Adam W.
+Caleb Whitted I was thinking of a Honda Shadow Phantom for starting. It's 750 cc engine which isn't good nor bad. It's pretty decent.
+Juniorr Here The shadow should be ok for a beginner, just practice your braking over and over and over again so you know how to brake in an emergency situation and take the rider safety course. Do not start on a 1k super bike.
+the8jrfan agreed
they really did their homework to make sure every aspect and component of the motorcycle works in unison...except that first gear LOL
It is suitable for the small rider like me?? i am 5'4" ht..thankz
+Mhond German If seat height is your concern, it might be an issue if you want to be able to touch down both feet at stop lights and intersections. I'm 5'6" and I can touch both feet down but I'm already on the tips of my toes. It's alright for me, but I don't plan on using it as a daily ride.
+Xmasochist I'm curious as I am also 5 foot 6. Is it rideable for let's say 200 miles a week? Or just as a daily rider?
Most MotoGP riders agree that Electronics have taken away some of the spectacle and emotion of the racing and I agree. The first years of the four stroke era are still the best races to watch. But hey if it's good enough for Valentino...guess I better get with the program.
The side profile reminds me of a 600cc bike. Not bulky like their old model.
I like that black model. In either case its still weaker than the awesome 10r and mjunk.
Thks
Soooooo perfect
That's why I bought the R1 oh yeah
Damn, I want one! I say damn bc I'm broke as f*ck!! Time to start saving my pennies.
I hear ya man that R1 aint cheap lol
JoeGo101 The good thing is we can just wait X amount of years, and it will be "affordable".
RocketRyder510 Yes Indeed :D Cant wait :D
could a 6-2" 299 lb guy be able to ride this bike and have fun ?
Is the R1m faster than the regular R1?
+Caleb Whitted nope
R1M with ohlins electronic suspension will be better, not faster, depends on rider skill.
decent quote "I don't think any other mfg is going to be able to compete with Yamaha in the electronics package"
*OMG*
Sounds awesome, but the design.. something is missing. Somehow it doesn't look like a litre bike.
Damn...sounds amazing. Now only if my stiff knees and hip and my achey back and ever generous paunch would allow me to comfortably swing a leg over..
Ahh..at some point some of has have to say "no mas" to the repli-racer...the body is giving up the ghost, tho the spirit is still excited as it was when the 2004 came out..

great job there Yamaha, the bike looks fantastic idd! love the R1
now make us a new and shiny supermoto in the 300-500cc range............pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaase :')
good is the best Yamaha..
My 2012 S1000RR,,,,will Still spank it back to the Sushi Bar....I'll Pass.....Next >>>>>>>
I doubt it. Great bike though.
bikee4 I'm laughing cause sometimes I feel guilty...that some Punk with a Nazi bloodline had something to do with my bike.....??,,,Fucking Irks me !!
That's pointless unless you can ride both bikes to the limit.
***** Dude, I'm killing myself that I didn't...it almost makes me want to trade up to a 2015 model
***** The new R1 does, look amazing, Best of Luck if you get it...make sure to buy your VR-46 Hat with it ;)
Hey!! This bike is more faster than kawasaki ninja H2 and H2r
yeah, Its prolly pretty damn awesome, But god damn, did Yamaha blow him before he rode it? i hope they got a huge endorsement check for this vid.
What is this exhaust?
It's a stock exhaust.
Damn
It looks a lot like Yamaha's MotoGP bike. I think older versions of YZF-R1 2009-2014 look better.
The front end looks like a whale shark, but this thing is a fucking BEAST.
Needs a better looking exhaust!
That's what aftermarket exhausts are for. 90% of people who buy motorcycles change out their exhaust, usually within the first 5 mods
What's a leetur, furthur, mertercycal, lineeur, chaaasee, contrl, folkus? I'm really, really, really, really, really, really confused.
Despite its performance, I can't get over how fucking ugly it looks.
When did Adam Sandler become a pro bike rider
the cross-plane R1 sounds like the R3 + exhaust, that sucks...
+GRRB Ever heard one IRL? You'll change your mind in a heartbeat
+Chris Fokjohn yeah they actually sound really good in person
+GRRB out of curiosity, how was the comfort out of 10 for the bike? I'm 5 foot 6 so I'd like to get an idea for myself with your height.
Honda is not into putting more HP on there bikes especially the fireblade and that is there policy, why have more horse power just to have the electronics take over when you run out of skill/talent if you only want to go fast in a straight line then wait for the Kawasaki.
Everything is good in this bike but who have the time to juggle with the electronics whole day??
i just wanna see the shoot out between this and the skrr...
is this a sponsored advertisement?
Looks like an Aprilia, nice bike though.
YAMAHA ALL THE WAY
I wish I could find a 04 silver r1 for fucks sake
HATE those front headlights, other than that which is the greatest turn-off...it looks great. Because of those hideous headlights, I can't see myself buying this bike.
I honestly hate the styling... but then again I'm a Ducati fan. can't compare the looks of a Panigale to anything. #PanigaleR is still the best! ;) IMHO
"It doesn't have that crazy top end like other bikes" You mean like yamahas???
he's riding a R1M :O
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!
