- Here's one of the deck recipes from the Darkmoon Faire Pre-release Fireside Gathering, and it's a really horrifying deck, because it might just signal the return of Big Priest to the meta thanks to Blood of G'huun.

It was clear when it 1st came out that this shit is gonna drop in RezPriest, especially in Wild, right away. Its just that strong, making a strong board around turn 5-6 ...
So once again the game will be between getting smashed by face-demon hunter or having my control decks lose to rez priest. Oh what a fun expansion this'll be... *sigh*

In terms of pure stats, Hammer of the Naaru is one of the strongest cards I've ever seen. A 3/3 weapon is around 3.5 mana, while a 6/6 taunt is 5 mana minimum. And they're bundled so 1 more mana. 9.5 mana value for 6. And no conditions either. Crazy.
It's pretty up there along with Ultimate Infestation
You can't value cards like that. What's strong on paper doesnt have to be strong in practice
@Wizard Of Doom I wouldn't say Paladin cards have high power level. Compared to classes like Priest and Mage, they're pretty decent. But they are predictable though. Pretty simple to play as and against. I hope Blizzard introduce more ways to play Paladin cus it's my favorite class. Maybe incorporate some WoW elements into it.
Paladin is often very vanilla. You won't see many deathrattles or rushy swing turns from Paladin. It's often big body or bodies. It seems to me they returned paladin to its roots: a midrange('y) class that plays one powerful card a turn until it dies.
@Wizard Of Doom Honestly then dude, if you're concernered about wasting your dust, your best bet is to just wait a few weeks for the meta to calm down and people to figure out what's good or not. Cards that appear to be absolutly bonkers at first view become crap and things people ignored at first come to define the meta all the time. If you want proof just look at the hundreds of "I was wrong about card X" videos by content creators. Something new and weird is gonna pop up that'll be fun to play and do decently. Seems firebat's Combo Shaman deck is doing pretty well and looks really fun to play too.
Historically Warrior and Rogue are always great and have a couple decks in the meta. Hunters and Druid are pretty great too and if it wasn't just nerfed a couple months back druid would have still been very dominant. I have trouble thinking of a time when those classes weren't a big part of the meta so if you want to get cards for a class and play now one of them is probably going to be good. I'd say bet on Warrior cause Nazoth Warrior looks pretty solid and the class was already really good since it's pretty clear based on your statement you don't want to play pure paladin.
Tbh during the stream the people spam asking for codes were very annoying, sorry you had to go through that Regis

G'huun and Co. should have been warrior cards... it fits so much better in my opinion, especially with big warrior being pushed last expansion.
I'm super disappointed with the warrior cards this expansion, I'll play around with them of course but they all look soooo mediocre and underwhelming.
Without ways of adding big cards to the deck, Big Warrior becomes a massive dud the later the game goes. Blood would have been nice but what would really help is a way to recycle dead cards into the deck.

i know priest is pretty hated for this kind of deck, but i must say i played it....and it feels pretty awesome. between the discounts and the resummoning and removal it feels really solid. prob needs refinement but overall a great deck

If res priest becomes too good then control shaman should be able to counter it. Devolving missiles and revolve will dilute the res pool badly

Soul Mirror seems terrible in this deck, actually. Regis got very lucky at around 10:00.
Edit: I hadn't finished the video yet, but the Scions of Ruin in the second game really prove my point.

Imo, Big Priest meta was better than secret mage, togwaggle druid meta, tempo DH, and odd paladin meta's. I have a strong disliking of aggro-based meta's because at a certain point it just boils down to who could race their deck faster, and that takes a lot of the enchantment out of the game for me. Big Priest's at least have ways to play around them (especially in wild atm), and they get to summon/use some of the biggest minions in the game which I can at least appreciate.
Nothing is more frustrating than being told you can't play the game because of the opponent having every secret under the sun in 3 turns, or because the opponent can refill their board clear after clear in an early tempo oriented game. I'm not dissing people who play those decks, simply saying that I would rather lose to big priest than to any aggro deck.
Another thing I will always hate playing against is highlander, simply because it never feels good to know your opponent always has *the* answer to any board state you may have. It's even worse in wild due to Kazakus, Reno and Zola generating value that you can't interact with. Big Priest relies on res pools that can be straight up countered by a number of tech cards that directly interact with the board and their deck. Aggro - efficient aggro - can only be played around by stronger aggro or insanely consistent luck
But yeah, I don't dislike fighting Big Priest. My only issue with priest is Plague of Death and Psychic Scream in wild. Those two cards are the penultimate feelsbadman cards because your reloads like N'Zoth and Y'Shaarj can only be slotted once in your deck and the answers to those refills can be slotted twice

These comments are hilarious as a priest player, nobody can deal with the fact a slower deck exists and thus they cant “morally accept playing priest” jesus christ its a card game make a counter deck then theres dozens of decks way better than rezpriest. Since closed beta Priest used to be my favorite class, but since they created res priest I feel dirty whenever I play it. It's not fun to play with or against it.
Meh if this deck becomes good again, we now have better tools to deal with it. Transform effects, Silas Darkmoon, stuff that summons 1/1 junk to your opponent's side. Also, Priests don't really have good board clears in Standard. One of those is Soul Mirror, which is potentially anti-synergy.

as a wild player, this expansion feels like it was custom made to make wild awful. res priest, secret mage, and odd paladin support. and the deck of chaos high roll for demonlock. just take the most oppressive decks in wild and give them all new toys! and maybe solar eclipse for agro druid to double field buffs but it's probably too slow, though im sure it's going to make stall jade and combo druid more annoying.
I don't think Odd Paladin will run the support from this expansion other than Oh My Yogg. Even then, it's pretty doubtful since their problem matchups are the ones that either clear them too often or develop faster than they do and the new cards don't help that much vs those.
@@GaussianEntity while i agree in the current meta odd paladin is will not work in wild and may never work until it reaches a critical mass of support like secret mage did, i more fear for that critical mass point. but tbh i think odd pali isn't that bad, i just dread the point when it becomes too consistent.

Because this game is so ridiculously expensive I’ve chosen to pick two classes and disenchant every other card so I can actually have decks to play those two classes are hunter and rogue so I hate priests so much
