great review. amazing car. I ordered the white in S trim with pano roof. While waiting for delivery in August, I am making one video a week about the I-Pace as well.
I ordered the "S" model with leather seats, Drive Pack, configurable dynamics, and ADSR. It came at around $76K which I think is the sweet spot pricing for the I-Pace. Anything over $80K is ridiq. Add the $7500 federal tax rebate, the $2500 CA clean air vehicle rebate, and the $1000 local utility rebate, and that brings the price down to almost $65K.
My favorite is jeffs child seat....way to go Jeff...real life at its finest....cool review on a cool car...this is the hottest growing segment ...hot rod sport cuvs that are EVs..
Thank you for an accurate comparison with Tesla. I-Pace should be compared with an S, not 3 or Y. 3 and Y are expensive econoboxes and should be compared with other, less expensive econoboxes like Kona and Niro. I-Pace is nicer, inside and out than an S, and less expensive out the door. Paid $65k for a $90k 2020 new, getting a great car for a very attractive price. Drives great, head-up display, terrific sound system, beautifully-crafted interior, instrument cluster where it belongs, dealer ten minutes away, nice leather.
I have tested the I Pace myself in germany and i agree with you in a lot of things. But the front grill makes sense. It get´s open while driving to intake air to cool the batteries.
The ipace is made by Steyr in Austria. They are making the I-pace at maximum capacity and the reason you aren't seeing many is because there is a 9 month wait. Yet all the other Jags are not selling, they are on a 3 day week and closing factories. Jag(Tata) aren't building them in Britain yet because of Brexit. So it is better to wait out the political storm over the next year. Than change the UK factories to build this and find that they are in a country with no trade agreements and losing 10%.
Fraser Wright, right, because British cars never sold outside Britain before 1973, right? But after they joined all major British car companies died or were sold. Once they get BREXIT, they can become a country again and start making cars under brands they own.
John W, I think there are two things that killed the British auto industry, labor unions and UE. Labor unions giving too high a pay for the work, and EU opening trade up to countries that can build cars cheaper and not allowing you to place a higher tariff on them to protect wages. The US almost has the same situation but is fighting this globalization that gives all the blue collar jobs to China, killing all our industries.
John W, the Japanese invasion of the 70s almost killed American auto makers too due to quality and price. They still dominate today in most segments. I think the MG Midget and Triumph TR6 were popular in the US, but when the Japanese offered something that didn’t need to be worked on 1 hour for every week you drove it, that appealed to a lot of women and emasculated men, the same group attracted to EVs today. Lol
Jeffs right...the 7500 federal rebate helps...but the i Pace is an expensive sport cuv....which makes an alfa stelvio tisport a better buy even if not an EV.......otherwise the electric I Pace would be a cool buy
For range, this car is over overkill for daily commute, under deliver for long trips. The price will kill this vehicle because I know people buy Tesla not only for all of the reason of EV, but able to go travelling 500 miles with only one 30 minutes break in nearly everywhere you need to go. Elon Musk delivers what people want in terms of value. In a nutshell, convenience. Agree price is simply too high. $90k, I rather save up more for Model X
@@redbaron6805 lol what grid do you operate? Because here in the WECC it's majority coal and natural gas. Most states do not consider Hydro a renewable resource. NERC certified RC here.. what's are you?
@@slimtny Why did you say "typically coal" then, especially if you KNOW that's not true? Coal is disappearing, and is already gone in most places, either replaced by renewables or natural gas, and as renewables come on line more and more eveything cleans up automatically, so you're winning right off the bat.
As always Jeff great video 👍🏻 can’t wait to see one person.
P.s. For me your nickname is now “Gastorque”

About 3,600 sold in Norway in December...
Impressive!

You got a good deal
awesome video. i like that you are open minded, being a fan of a good ICE car but being open towards EV´s. great job, Jeff!
That little nugget at the end, about gaining power... awesome! Sik review man! 👍🏽

Good fun video :)
GAIN POWER!
Great video Jeff! Next up: Audi eTron?
I think we’re a few months out on that one haha. Tomorrow is a Range Rover vid.
Did the battery die in the GoPro or did it just shut off randomly as GoPro's are want to do?
It was my fault, didn't swap in a fresh battery - the battery died.

Yup, Plug it in at night and let it get charged up by base load generation which is typically coal...
still better than gas. You're paying for that electricity anyway and not using it at night.
@@SteveAkaDarktimes umm no that's what the meter is for. You're charged for what you use.
That is literally wrong. Most base loads in the USA are hydro and nuclear.
