I have a 2010 DBS automatic. I owned it now for three years. It has always been my dream car. I still love it to this day but I may upgrade to the 2018 Vanquish S at some point. The 2019 DBS is a very nice car but between the three in my opinion, the 2009 - 2012, DBS has a more timeless look than the other two.
Got a 2008 DB9, about to go into my 3rd year and it has been utterly dependable. Done 2 large Europe road trips and its been very enjoyable. That DBS does sound really quiet. Running costs have been very good too.
i bought one of these new, still have it, never been wet!!....i love it so much, love to just look at in garage...hardly use it now sadly.... I think one day could be DB5 like
An interesting comparison would have been the 09 Manual DBS and the 19 Superlegera DBS. Why? because they are currently priced about the same, around $200k, although I expect the manual 09 will keep going up in value as one of the last truly analog AM GT: manual gearbox + naturally aspirated V12 + front engine + James Bond pedigree = perfect combo! Believe me, the manual 09 DBS has a ton of personality and makes an incredibly sexy sound (especially on cold starts, in the high revs and the downshifts). Such a comparison would have left you with: Do I prefer a modern, comfortable, powerful superlegera to travel across the continent? Or a sexier, less comfortable, less powerful iconic manual? I personally would go with the later, especially if you are able to get a shop to discretely install apple play. Now, if you have decided you want a touchtronic gearbox, go for the 17 Vanquish, cheaper than the Superlegera.
The vanquish S is starting to be a bit of low key bargain right now. You should’ve driven the manual DBS, I think you’d have had a different conclusion👍🏻
Have a 2009 DBS 6 speed coupe. It does need an exhaust remote to open up the sound a bit. The DBS also has a pair of redundant secondary cats that were removed with V12 Vantage S and Vanquish S, these replacement pipes can swap out the secondary cats in DBS for better throttle response, less weight, more volume; crisp and characterful sound, and more HP. These cars also might have old tyres on it, probably needs alignment as well. This car needs to be in a 6 speed to really be in it's ultimate form however. With these things addressed the DBS is absolutely transformed.
Guess it depends on what your plans are are you seeking an everyday driver where it'll take the motorways or are you seeking more performance that you want something that you can take on curvy roads if you're not going to take the car to an oval track or even a multi turn raceway
Just a thought, why not try a bog standard DB9? I did and was smitten within the first 5 minutes! Get my one owner 2005 DB9 next week & I can’t wait!👍❤️
New normal Vanquish not the "S"! The normal version sounds better and the exhaust valves open alot sooner. There is the pre-facelift Vanquish and the facelift Vanquish the facelift has the ZF 8 speed gearbox which is very good but the gearbox in the pre-facelift from the reviews i saw a long time ago and has far has i can remember is decent too although it only has 7 gears so in the facelift the gears are shorter since its a 8 speed gearbox and because of that the engine pulls better at low rpm which makes a huge difference because that engine only pulls really well at high rpm which you might think thats strange since its a 6.0 engine but thats how it is. If that journey throw Europe is with friends the new DBS Superleggera might be a better choice it will be far easier to keep up with them. But be carefull its a tricky car to drive it has a huge amount of torque only sent to the rear wheels so it will be a bit twitchy to drive and the constant and abrupt intervention of the electronic assistances duo to that huge amount of torque only sent to the rear wheels might make it a bit unpleasant to drive after a while. And please remove the camera filter on your videos. Its a bit depressing with the filter its like the world lost his colors.
Supercars of London Awesome Video I think it's awesome that Aston Martin Bristol let you drive all of those Awesome Aston Martins and I think you should get a DBS Superleggera or Superleggera Volante
And that's why in a span of 2008-2009 you should've opted for the Manual Transmission than the Auto, not bad mouthing it but the sensation of driving it in pure analogue
A 991.1 Turbo S would be better for him it performs better and is more comfortable if he doesn't like the normal tailights of the gen 1 he should try to find a car with the clear glass tailights which were optional in the gen 1 its not worth it to pay extra for the gen 2 991 Turbo S because is essencially the same car with a bit more power.
I don’t think you’ve done the DBS a fare assessment, the whole point is it gives you the best of both worlds, a cool cruiser and touring car but if you drive it with some meaning… and not “potter” around the country lanes with the Dealer escort car following and watching your every move…..you might get more form it, what did you want from it ? screaming at you and sending you sideways … or turn you in to Daniel Craig… I’ve off course owned one for years and its one of the coolest cars I’ve ever driven and owned and yes I suppose if you want to do the normal motoring review of ‘hard driving’ only view etc then I suppose that’s how an opinion like yours can be made, but own one for period of time and then you can truly “get it”
DBS is a gentleman but it can become a hooligan if you want it to be a hooligan I have driven DB11 and i think the older car is the better car Its a classic in the making
IMO, DB11 V12. But it must be said; if you want a Vanquish S, you can get a good one for under 70k, and a good non-S for much less. You don't need to buy from Nicholas Mee.
Apparently this is @seenthroughglass and Paul are tempted to make some questionable financial decisions weekend. Sam's driving the Maserati and Paul with the older Aston Martin's
I really liked the vid but i didnt realise how much until you got to the part where you said about the superlagera and onwards from there and it hit me the honesty you was saying i really liked from you it didnt make me think i dont want one of these now it made me think i now know what i would be getting if i did,and this is why you are the king of these programs.

The 08 DBS is still my dream car. After more than 10 years, it is still beautiful
Yeah... I have to say Aston Martin got my attention with the DB9, but it was the DBS that stole my heart!

Agreed. The Manual DBS has a ton of character.

You can get a valve by pass switch which makes all the difference with exhaust note. It changed the character of my Rapide.
This DBS could have a permanently close exhaust valves hence it's so quiet
Another Aston from this era that I think gets overlooked is the Virage. Stunning car.
Just a thought, why not try a bog standard DB9?
I did and was smitten within the first 5 minutes!

WOW. I never thought i say this but I kinda agree with you on this one and I love every Aston Martin model.
New normal Vanquish not the "S"!

400 lbs foot at 2000 rpm doesn't sound peaky. 8 speed just much better.
Never driven an DBS? You have actually an old video from 2013 when you drove an DBS v12 😂
Supercars of London Awesome Video I think it's awesome that Aston Martin Bristol let you drive all of those Awesome Aston Martins and I think you should get a DBS Superleggera or Superleggera Volante

Yeah, but you'd need to be comfortable grasping the 'Transformer's Cock' gearstick.
amazing video mate can you make a comparison video between the dbs and the 2nd gen vanquish since they are almost similiar in price
Try a 997.2 Turbo S, no content out there, and it’s amazing (ideally with an exhaust and mild/optimized tune).
Great vfm car! Absolutely love the design, completely timeless and great performance!
The Manual box DBS is the one to have. I've had a 2008 Casino Royale for 4 years now. It's a no brainer. The Auto box is a no no.
Have you ever tried a V12 Vantage manual?
@@graygamingps4503 No, but maybe I should....
DBS replacement is coming and should look better

big up all the Bristol Crew!!!!!!
I’m bias as I have an 8spd Vanquish 2. You’re welcome to try but the only real difference between the 8spd Vanquish and Vanquish S is styling.
For 75k, I'd buy a 2014 Vanquish.
Yessss
DBS is a gentleman but it can become a hooligan if you want it to be a hooligan I have driven DB11 and i think the older car is the better car Its a classic in the making

You've probably already got the perfect two car garage Paul.
Apparently this is @seenthroughglass and Paul are tempted to make some questionable financial decisions weekend. Sam's driving the Maserati and Paul with the older Aston Martin's
Spend it on a nose job. Mr JWW has ALREADY exhausted this car....YEARS ago
Striking a wide spread pose as JWW simply must be the way to success. "Astin Martin" must help, too. And all those totally unheard of news!
would you not prefer to manual swap a 599 ?
Do a comparison with both gen M6s vs the current gen m8 🔥
You should have driven the manual. Even if it’s just to compare them.
Leaving a healthy donation for a swimming pool all over the interior there mate 😅
I am annoyed you are reading my mind!!!! Can’t wait to see the one you choose.
So try a V12 Vantage. £60k… and will give you what you want
599 is calling your name sir.
Have you heard of the new Lamborghini Huracan STJ?
Paul u have driven a DBS, a Volante in an old video
You look like Joel Hansen. The one who does the eating challenges
Superleggera is the way I would go

Nice🇨🇭
What the fuck is an Astin Martin?
Get a Porsche. No one would expect that from you.
Dude, no one in their mind would choose the old school auto over the manual transmission! 🙄
They would. It’s a GT car.
