Hi, I’m Steve from Scotland. I plan, film and edit travel videos both at home and throughout the world, with all the work done myself. I try to go a bit beyond the normal tourist route, exploring less-visited places and would be honoured if you'd come along as well. But please don't expect an expert guide, if that's what you're after, this is probably not the channel for you. What you WILL find here though are my 100% honest impressions of what I see along the way, albeit as a layman. And I always believe the star of any video is not me, but the places I visit. I hope this comes across and you can feel like you are there with me. Please remember to subscribe, like, comment, share, all that stuff if you enjoy my videos (or even a thumbs down if you don't!). I make a conscious effort not to say this in the videos themselves, but it would be a massive help to the channel and open it up to bigger audiences around the world. Oh, and who's that with me in many of the adventures? Well that must be my glamorous sidekick Alicja (who features as often as she can). Thanks for watching and enjoy the video :)

FAQs:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Glasgow but have lived in Carnoustie, Dalgety Bay, Stonehaven, Edinburgh, Montrose, and further afield (Salamanca, Spain & Devonport, New Zealand)
WHEN DO YOU UPLOAD?
Saturdays at 10am Scottish time. Occasionally a bonus midweek video will pop up.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?
I film with a GoPro11 and my iPhone12. I edit on iMovie and use epidemicsound.com for music. I also use canva.com for thumbnails etc.
WHY DON'T YOU SPEND LONGER AT DESTINATIONS?
The usual suspects I'm afraid - time and money! Hotels especially these days make my eyes water like a true Scotsman.
WHERE'S ALICJA?
Alicja will feature as often as possible, but I'm afraid she has a proper job so it can take weeks for our schedules to match up.
DO YOU PAY FOR YOUR OWN TRAVEL?
Yes I do. I've only ever accepted a complementary ticket as compensation for a previous problem. All my opinions are frank and honest reflections of travel as I experience it.
WHY THE ADS?
It's my income, I can't do this for free.
CAN I CONTACT YOU?
I used to list my email address but felt bad not having the capacity to respond to everything so took it down (and I got a LOT of spam so missed many genuine messages along the way).
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE CHANNEL?
Watching my videos is of course support enough, but if you'd like to support further, I'll pop links below for Paypal and Patreon. All kind donations are super-appreciated and will go 100% towards future filming trips.
DO YOU ACCEPT SPONSORSHIPS?
I don't like to upset the flow of my videos, so I don't even include mid-roll ads anymore (at significant loss of income to myself), so I prefer not to include sponsorships either. I'm open to a small slide at the start/end of each video, but I don't want to get into talking about products, it's something I don't like as a viewer myself (especially as a viewer who pays for RUclips Premium). So it's probably a polite no, although all of this goes out the window if you offer me something which can give me the chance to make a video for my audience that would otherwise be impossible.

In traditional car race style of the 50s Alicja should have dropped a handkerchief as the start.
Looks like she already dropped 20lbs or more. Well done Alecja 🔥
Brill Steve and Scott . This needs to be an annual thing now 😂 Off to watch Scott's version now .
Who needs the TV with entertainment like this? Congrats to all of you
Totally agree! Prefer this and Steve Marsh to anything on TV at the moment.
Wonderful video, lads. And Alicja was a brilliant referee. I'm so jealous of all these train trips you're able to do. Our train network here in Australia isn't nearly as interesting. I visited Fort William a few years ago with some Australian friends who were living and working in Glasgow. It's such an amazing place.
Northern Ireland could be worse very few lines left after the 1960s
The first train I ever went on was in Australia. I have an aunt that lives in Springwood, Sydney that’s a lovely journey & one I made regularly to hit the wonderful beaches around Sydney. To this day I still haven’t been on a U.K. train.
This is one of the best videos I've watched. The personality of both Steve and Scott (and Alijca) comes through. Magical.
My goodness, how long have we wanted to see this. My absolute favourite Scottish RUclipsrs🏴 brilliant stuff, well done
Brilliant idea and a great challenge. Looking forward to seeing Scott's journey now.
You guys are two of the highlights of RUclips. Thanks for all the entertainment. Where next 😂
Well done to both competitors and the referee! So fun to watch Scott's video and see Steve from a different point of view. Sorry the guest house was so poor, hope you got some good rest back in Montrose!
This is the Scottish travel vlog equivalent of Pacino and De Niro in Heat!
This was a lot of fun. Can’t wait to see the next duo channel challenge! 😀
What a terrific video! Whatever group in Scotland is responsible for increasing tourism should take a serious look at this video, because it really made me want to get on a plane and go there as soon as possible. Truly wonderful video, as always
What a delightful adventure by two very delightful gentlemen. More challenges please.
Brilliant work to all involved! I think Scott lucked out with getting the route where more intercity transport options were available overnight. The Dundee cake looked seriously nice though! Looking forward to the next challenge.
No the route had nothing to do with it. He keept going looking for buses or trains and he didn't stop too book a hotel to get rest.
This was so fun, what a great brilliant idea. Quite a whirlwind journey for both of you. The referee, as always, was excellent. Fabulous as always Steve.
As someone who's tried to make the most of her U22 free bus travel, I've become very familiar with the maze that is Buchanan St bus station, and my congratulations go out to you for finding the Fort William bus! Great video as always Steve, I enjoyed it a lot!
What an absolutely fantastic video - there were no losers in that contest, brilliant stuff altogether (although it reminds me why I don't ever travel by Coach/Bus).
Easily the best video of two blokes riding around Scotland on buses and eating cake I've ever seen 🤣 But seriously this was a great watch. That one-minute advantage Scott had at the start was always going to be difficult to claw back. If only one of your challenges had been to shoot a video of a guy running across the street with a TV, things could have been very different...
What a brilliant idea for a competition! I follow both of you so this is perfect😀Hard luck Steve! Better luck next time: I, for one, am looking forward to it 👍🙏…Terry
My absolute favorite drive in Scotland, on the A-82 going north from the Green Welly Stop through Rannoch Moor, Glencoe and Ballachulish, ending at Fort William. Another fantastic video Steve, thank you....always brings back happy memories for me!
You couldbtry walking fro Green Welly shop to Fort William along the West Highland Way. Best way to see the scenery.🙃🙃🤣
@@killerqueen9298 Only if I was maybe 35 years younger I would consider such a walk. But you're correct and I do know it is a lovely walk for a friend from Potsdam and her mother did a hike from Crianlarich to Bridge of Orchy and their photos were stunning.
Well done Scott 👏 better luck next time Steve
FANTASTIC! What a great idea. Looking forward to the next one! The sound of gulls at 5:30 a.m. in Aberdeen raked up some of my ‘long forgotten best left in the’ PAST😂 Well done , Steve and thanks for introducing us to Scott and his channel.
I don't know exactly how you do it, but each week you come up with an amazingly interesting video. A transport challenge? Doesn't sound very exciting but I loved it. Thank you! I enjoyed the walk in the rain. Great work.
It's nice to see the difference in content and style between the two of you!
Brilliant. What a great fun probably exhausting challenge. The film location challenge was the exact one I had in mind for you. Such an iconic moment in Scottish film history.
That bus journey to Fort William is indeed a cracker rain or shine.
I'm off to watch Scott now. I think the next one should be international. 👍😁
By international, would that include England 🤣
@@leonb2637 weeeeeell I'd have to say no. You all have "blue" or should I say "bleu" passports soir shouldn't really count.......yet!!!!
The Netherlands would be good. Small enough and with a relatively good rail and bus network ......and a bit of cycling but I would say that 😁🏴🇳🇱
Absolutely loved it! Two big kids having fun. I was convinced Steve had won, it all seemed to go so well. Well done Scott, what a victory! Steve very gracious in defeat but I know he won't rest till he has his hands on that trophy! May there be many more of these - really great fun!
How nice to see the three of you together! May the best man win! Greetings from Kviteseid,, Norway!!
One of my favourites so far...you totally inspire me. This has to be one of the best ways to see the Scottish countryside... definitely gonna try it some time.👍
Great fun and a thoroughly enjoyable watch (both videos). Well done lady and gents.
Oh I love Scotland.. Especially seeing Glencoe and Fort Augustus was a nice unexpected surprise. Made me think back to January and the amazing fish and chips I had there and the stunning wee Loch Ness boat trip as well. I have to go back soon.. You do such a great job with these videos. It's just so relaxing to watch, it gives you loads and loads of tips on where to go yourself the next time you're there and especially if you're a foreigner traveling mostly by yourself, it shows you how accessible these places are and that you don't need to rely on organized group tours only :) like in another of your videos, a place I wouldn't think of and you just take a train, the ticket is good for the ferry as well, no biggie..
Whenever in Prague and down for a wee break, feel free to reach out and the beer's on me ;)
Let's have more,this was brilliant.
What a great challenge! That guest house did you no favors Steve, but you gave it a good go! Your video is definitely motivating my wife and I to get back to Scotland.
I am so jealous of your train system. We just don't have anything to compare over here in the USA, nothing like the comprehensive system there in Scotland. I love watching the train travel videos, well, and the buses and planes as well. The scenery is just stunning!
You should both do this again Steve! I thoroughly enjoyed it!! You could also maybe do some travel videos together in the future? Maybe some longer ones? I throughly enjoy both of your channels and you both produce to notch content!!!! Keep it coming mate!!!
Hi Steve & Alicja,
A novel challenge, but Scott's timing was slightly quicker on the anti-clockwise routing, never the less an interesting challenge that you both participated in.
All the Best to everyone involved.
Brilliant! That's making me wonder about how a similar thing could be done around Wales 🤔
You shudda slipped an Apple Tag in Scott's backpack before you left! ;)
Well done Steve, Although you didn't win the Travel Challenge, You did win the Travel Report Challenge. Not only was you Video clearer and Audio more informative, your editing skills are always a winner Mate. I would love to a challenge like that someday as there are so many great places in Scotland I would revisit. It's always nice to see Alicja taking part in your videos.
Brilliant love both you guys videos mate
Cheers, Steve (and Scott and Alicja) - that was a fantastically fun episode! And, albeit fleetingly, I've never seen Inverness so clean or empty - it must have been the weather! Thanks again - cheers!
Who knew your hunt for an oystercatcher in Tórshavn would prove so handy... just a shame it didn't send you the other way around Scotland! Great challenge. Fantastic refereeing. Revenge will be sweet on the next one... though it sounds like you got a pretty good deal with the forfeit!
What a great video and thanks for introducing me to another channel. Love that you pointed out Kinghorn and Kirkcaldy, my gran lived in Kinghorn and we spent all our holidays travelling up from Liverpool to there and now my dad has moved up to Kirkcaldy so it's always great to see it.
Great fun and really nice to see Scotland in the rain. Well done everyone
Brilliant! Well done to both of you.
Brilliant collaboration chaps, loved it, well done! Here's to the next one. 😊
Brilliant challenge, great fun to watch. More of them :)
Great fun - enjoyed watching this video and seeing your highlights. Felt sorry for you having to bypass Montrose and your bed to go on to Dundee!
What a ton of fun. Nice one Steve. You may not have won but you do have Alicja to come back to! A wonderful watch.
Fantastic, can't wait to see more of these challenges.
Well done guys 👍
the collab we knew we needed! great job to you all! xxx
That was great fun to watch. Well done!
Well done both of you, most enjoyable.
Brilliant! Loved it! More more!!
Great fun, Steve. Wonderful shots of the western ramparts of Glenlyon (before Tyndrum). Your referee was looking very stylish, too.
That was an epic trip and so wonderful to watch; I hope it's an annual event. Thanks for the fun!
Absolutely brilliant Steve and so much fun, you and Scott are great together along with beautiful smiling Alicjia. Please do more of these, what about a New Year special from you all meeting up at 12 oclock midnight ( The Bells ) somewhere in Scotland ...that would be amazing ... thankyou all for great viewing 👍 😊❤
Thanks for reminder Dundee is a visit location not to be missed. RRS Discovery is looking really good. Appreciate you and Scott doing this challenge. Very brutal in terms of sleep deprivation.
Great video you three ! Looking forward to more challenges.
Brilliant. Great fun to watch.
Absolutely excellent video gentlemen. Well done. Great entertainment. 👍
Best thing I've watched all week :) I've done the Glasgow to Portree bus many years ago, loved every minute of it. Thanks for a great wee film.
As always a another great video Steve. Beautiful scenery and fun to watch. Nice to see Alicia. Thanks Again 👍💙
Glad to see you had a great trip and have returned safely for more new adventures in Percy 😊
Brilliant, I enjoyed every minute of it, thanks.
WOW! What a great challenge and a wonderful journey with you and Scott. Sounds like you may have started a yearly competition between you and Scott. Thank you for a great moment. Cheers.
Fantastic stuff. More stuff with Scott would be great!
Excellent viewing. Thanks both of you for putting in the time and effort.
This adventure really cheered me up. Good camaraderie amongst the three of you. Well done all of you. ❤️
It was so much fun, I definitely sense a repeat!
Brilliant that was good fun. Really enjoyed it, now going to watch Scott's journey.
Absolutely brilliant Steve and Scott. What a superb challenge and journey.
Congratulations to Scott and better luck next time mate.
Look forward to seeing the next one.
Fantastic challenge between two of the best. A great watch and fun to boot. Well done to you both!
What a fantastic challenge and amazing to see the view from both sides. Please please do more collaborations and show off the country with different challenges. Keep up the great work Scott and Steve!!!
Super fun video, enjoyed the suspense 😊 I hope you two follow through on the forfeit challenge and film it too. Now to watch Scott’s video
Excellent. Looking forward for to the next one
Great videos from both of you really enjoyed it.
Really thought you should have won that one Steve time wise as there was a bus from Aberdeen to Dundee at 00.20 getting into Dundee at 1.40. I am sure the referee would have allowed you free accommodation when you arrived might have helped on cost challenge as well. Good fun looking forward to seeing more
Perfect, absolute perfect. I really hope both of you do a few more challenges in the future 😊
If you want another challenge, how about visit all the "letter from America " locations... in Scotland of course!
Here goes
Wester Ross, Lochaber, Sunderland, Lewis, Sky, Bathgate, Linwood, Methil,
Irvine
so much fun. Thanks for enjoyable video😍👍
Great idea and great video. Thanks to all of you for my Saturday morning entertainment
Great little challenge. We want more.
That was mint Steve! Such a great way to show us around and a fun challenge too - I'm so looking forward to the next time you do this. Scott will have a new subscriber in me as I'm heading over to his channel now 😊
There’s a reason I subscribe to this channel, you deserve additional points for presentation skills
This was so much fun and the scenery was beautiful 🤗
Highly enjoyable jaunt Steve. Ive been following your channel for a while now. My European rail travelogue started in 1977 with interail. I once went to benidorm by train and bus🥴. As you are aware there was no video or tinternet then but i have boxes of ticket stubs and paraphilia clogging up my loft. Best wishes and keep updating your journeys, regards Mike in Cardiff.
Totally absorbing challenge indeed. Looking forward to more in similar vein.
Wonderful idea. I couldn't choose which version to watch first, then Scott's short popped up. Perfect compromise, watch Scott's short followed by your video.
Very enjoyable video. I get to see my beloved Montrose again. Thanks for sharing
Great to see you both do this. Makes for darned great viewing. 😁
Bloody awesome u pair, a legend is born, well done
As always, another great video , Steve.
great entertaining video ! loved the trip, saw some favorite places on the way, when everything is running well it seems so easy to get around
That was a very entertaining video! Thanks guys (and Alicja, of course)! ♥️
Great video and content, thank you for the channel
Absolute humdinger of a challenge! Enjoyed both of your stories-for different reasons. Excellent collaboration!
Brilliant video!! Hope all is well, take care and hope you have a great weekend
What an awesome challenge 🎉🎉🎉 Scott, looking forward to the rematch 😁
Brilliant !!!
Great video, loved the challenges and camaraderie you and Scott share.
Fun and Interesting. really enjoyed it and looking forward to the next one!
Well that was, quite simply, awesome. Great fun for us to watch. Quite a bit of work for you three to plan and do and it is appreciated. Well done on the rubber duck challenge. Applause to all!
Your videos are so much fun! I’m addicted! Binge watching at least 3 a day. Good thing I’m retired. Gotta love RUclips when there are genuine, sincere, and caring adventurers like yourself. Stay safe!
