I still believe if rocktron would ditch those clearly 80's to early 90's inspired looks, they would gain some more interest from a wider audience. All that I've tried coming from rocktron was truly inspiring. Their Black cat moan is one of the sickest pedals I've ever used for leads!!! Make sure to use it someday in a vid, it's a bit weird at the beginning until you hit the vocal range combined with the built in distortion, simply frightening through a high gain tube amp with a trail of delay!!!
@s2bHawK amp doesnt really matter when using pedal. it should be clean and tube, and a twin reverb would be perfect in those aspects. and the blackstar ht pedals sound pretty damn good, as well as the AMT drive and legend series.
You only use the distortion of the pedal or you have an amp too on crunch mode ? Think this pedal is rly awsome man...could become an item on my buy-list :p
@s2bHawK true, but what if for exemple you love your old fender twin reverb and want to play metal or some shred on very rare occasions? (ok, then you shoud get a pedal that sounds better than this one)
@austinfailz coz i guess he use better amp and cab... and guitar pickups and he use 7 string guitar... and the head or amp is really important that how good is it.
Even though I still prefer the distortion of my fireball 100, I pulled out my amptweaker tight metal pedal out of the closet. I had never used it through my amp and cab just crappy practice amps, but I must say the tone I was getting out of it was pretty damn brutal. Makes me glad I decided to keep it when I finally decided to sell all of my sold called "metal' pedals and buy myself a decent amp.
I remember having one of these as a kid and thinking the same thing. Totally didn't appreciate it, mainly because I didn't understand it. Ended up trading or pawning it off or something 4-5 years ago and I severely regret it... I didn't know the whole, overdrive pedal before the crunch channel thing yet, so I had ran it straight into the clean channel like yourself and thought the same thing you did about it being weak and thin sounding. This thing is meant for the lead channel though imo.. I miss it so bad :C had no idea it costed so much either at the time! (hates life)
had the metal planet for a few months, didnt like it at all. with the gain all the way up sounds just a step better than a solid state amp distortion. still havent found a pedal i like more or even equal to my Zoom Tri Metal
I think its a disappointing pedal because it really could sound good, but no matter how much you turn the knobs, it doesn't really seem to. You get it sounding much better than I did when I had it though.
I think the zombie, n metal planet would complement each other in the blend of a mix if you were to go that route. Give the Ganiac original a try though, the ganiac 2 sucks.
also If you have a low-gain amp, EMMA Pisdiyawot would be a best choice. but this... fuzzz...fshhh... wtf it's not a distortion its death to my ears :S
For a distortion pedal I really like it!
Ola you should re-do this video now with your trademark witty banter.
niiiice!!
It chug ?
Stoner type tones. That's a hell of a mid range sweep.
best distortion pedal i've heard. sounds like an actual amp distortion. or something mighty close

Love the Pantera in your videos man!
Guess what Ola, i am modding my Rocktron Metal Planet to make it even better. i love my Rocktron Metal Planet.
You only use the distortion of the pedal or you have an amp too on crunch mode ? Think this pedal is rly awsome man...could become an item on my buy-list :p
i love EVERYTHING rocktron does except for distortion pedals/racks. too fizzy, still sounds better than most other pedals
Well, try it into the low gain input of a JCM800 2203 cranked and then decide. Volume is the great equalizer.
Loved the pantera riffs in there.

Another zone with a mod
Ola!!! would you recommend your Solar 7 Sig over the Ibanez 2127z? price not a factor?
Ola tell me what you think about the "Way Huge Green Rhino".
Sounds pretty sick through an Epiphone Valve Junior and a 4x12 cab with greenbacks (the way I used it back in 2005-06).

What a powerfull pedal, sounds like Meshuggah \m/
@flyngorrila i would also love to hear what you have to say :)
@Mo7Vsta Really? That is an a question that answers itself. HIS solar 7 SIGNATURE model, obviously he likes it more.
blackstar distx please!
I want that solar 7
@fearedse thanks for reminding me i've got one :D
i just got one today and it does not have this much gain. are you playing into a clean channel ?
I remember having one of these as a kid and thinking the same thing. Totally didn't appreciate it, mainly because I didn't understand it. @DemmelitionMan95 It does'nt sound good for lead tones. it muddies up when you alternate pick.
@fearedse i would liek to hear this on my 100 watt peavey vyper here, if isounds as good as my axe fx id be impressed :P
Pantera rules!!!!! great man!!
Hey Ola, would you recommend this over the MXR Fullbore or the Boss ML-2 Metalcore?
Cheers \m/
ML-2. MXR fullbore - the worst distortion pedal of the world
I think its a disappointing pedal because it really could sound good, but no matter how much you turn the knobs, it doesn't really seem to. You get it sounding much better than I did when I had it though.
AWESOME!!!
Very djenty tone
you make everything fithier! \m/
Cool!
Nice...
Sounds quite nice actually ;)
@sujaka2 dont listen to buymeamic, he has trolled earlier too... im a victim
I think the zombie, n metal planet would complement each other in the blend of a mix if you were to go that route. Give the Ganiac original a try though, the ganiac 2 sucks.
@s2bHawK
Not everyone can afford the right amp, in the first place.
The Zombie it the best.
I waiting for MXR Fullbore metal!
Not bad!
he did. seymour duncan twin tube mayhem sounded awful cause the pedal is pure shit. the mini rectifier sucked quite badly too imo.
@fearedse indeed! but lets not forget hes playing on a sweet ass piece of gear too not a shitty solid state :P
@fearedse are you kidding?! ))
panteraaaaaaa
WAAAY too much mids. Best pedal out there in my opinion is the Blackstar HT distortion.
metal planet is a Terror 0.0
but of course Ola knows how to make anything metal apparently lol
also If you have a low-gain amp, EMMA Pisdiyawot would be a best choice.
but this... fuzzz...fshhh... wtf it's not a distortion its death to my ears :S
\m/ PanterA \m/
you then obviously dont like good tone or niveau...
Too squishy or something like that. Just like my Metal Muff.
first viewer! woooot
@sujaka2
Blackstar distx is shit :O
Same as HT series amp... simply terrible.
sry, i don't like it ..
