the closed cell spray foam i have used in the past had a larger expansion rate than the stuff you used and would rapidly expand to 2-3 inches it was a 2 part system that worked well. what you used will probably be fine but seems like it was more for gap filling.
You guys are so much fun to watch. HOWEVER, Riley; please use a push stick to finish push-through on the table saw - especially so when a second person is involved pulling long boards. All it would take is Courtney tripping over a stone in the lot and torqueing the board to send your fingers/thumb sideways into the blade. You'd be hurt and she would be forever feeling guilty.
Courtney, next time at the store, pick up a 2 inch PVC 90 and put on the exhaust port of the table saw and point it down, and avoid the sawdust storm :-D
You two are a beautiful couple. Your wife has so many hidden talents. She is willing to tackle any project with you. You definitely have a keeper. You two are truly blessed
Happy Birthday Courtney. Fantastic teamwork on what on paper sounded more effortless than it looked. It is impressive how far you can transform the container with what you are doing.
glad to see you wearing PPE, so many youtubers use spray foam in a confined space with no PPE, just because it doesn't smell that bad doesn't mean it's safe, while curing it releases isocyanates which are dangerous chemicals, they're also in automotive clear coats, you need PPE to protect your respiratory system, eyes and skin which I'm glad to see that you did : )

Good job. My advice is to not mount the heat pump on the exterior wall. All the vibration carries through. We did the same on our cabin and it always sounded like someone driving up on an ATV when it turned on. Subsequently, the dogs would start barking. Lol. We took it off the wall and mounted it on a stand. Very quiet now. Ours is a Fujitsu and has worked perfectly through all our weather here in north ID.

Great job with the insulation ,the ceiling T&G looks great. And The Mr Cool was so easy to install. You should have the tiny home finished in no time and then on to your next project.I wonder what that will be? 😊
Hey Guys love the content. Being a HVAC tech I noticed you mounted the outdoor unit of your Mr Cool system the the outside wall of the Metal Container. From my own experience you may find that it will vibrate and send those vibrations through the whole container while operating. So some vibration mounts between the bracket and the wall would be advised.
Courtney, good choice on the electric knife. I have used one for 30 years, a whole $2 at St. Vinnies. Since it was in my tool box and I bought it I kept it.

Looking great. It was interesting to see beginners attempt the spray foam. It gives me a better idea how hard it is for a first project if I want to try it.
Hello friends, I used to use polyurethane foam every day at work years ago. I worked in a boat factory. That mess is ALMOST impossible to get off skin.MEK works. One of the fellows at work built a home out of it. He poured a round pad, had rebar entirely around the circumference. One the concrete dried, he pulled the rebar into a dome. Covered with burlap& then sprayed it. Covered it with shotcrete. He built a double dome with a tunnel in the 70s 2 story, free form interior. He still lives there. I thought this might get Riley's evil genius working there I could take pix if you'd like.
This is a friendly suggestion. Fill the stud bay and especially roof with as much foam as you can. Usually roofs get twice as much more insulation than walls by code because most of your losses go through there. Even if you don't use spray foam and just cheap whatever I think you will thank yourself. Most places have a minimum code of R20 and your 2" of foam is only giving R12. There are maps you can look up that show what the suggested R value by climate zone. Good Luck.
I am enjoying this build of the tiny house/guest quarters! There is quite a bit of work involved that most folks don't realize, it makes a person appreciate your work and understanding! Little Oliver sure is growing quickly, soon he will be swinging a hammer and wanting to weld something!
A tip I picked up from the Perkins brothers was to put a pvc elbow on the exhaust of your table saw and then put a 5 gallon bucket under it to collect the dust. It makes a HUGE difference.
Happy Birthday 🎂 and Mother's Day, Courtney. Great video, and nice to see Boone and Bailey doing well. And Riley, I can't believe you just learned the value of saw horses. And the great thing is you can make them whatever size you want or need.

Great young couple just doing everything mostly together and that’s true love ❤️. I try to watch all your videos but sometimes I do miss one here or there 😊❤
Courtney, you need to have The Wild One create a sawdust collector for the table saw. You'll need a Homer bucket and lid, right angle PVC pipe, straight PVC pipe. and piece of open cell foam. PVC from discharge to homer bucket, cut vent hole in the homer bucket top tape open cell foam as filter. DONE!
Hey guys, great job. And yet another tip for the tablesaw. I just use an old pillowcase that I zip tie over the exhaust port my table saw to catch all of the sawdust plus it’s very easy to empty and one pillowcase will literally last several years under pretty heavy use. You guys are a blast and you’re doing a great job. Yes I am a building contractor for well over 40 years. Well done.
The small house is looking cool...great job you 2....love your videos...theyre so amazing....Happy birthday Courtney...and many more of them...Stay safe you all and see you on the next one
Probably going to need some kind of air exchanger? You did a fantastic job sealing it and along with that comes the need to exchange for new air. Happy Mother’s Day!
@@samjubilee6593 Yes it is...but that exchanges the heat...not the air. R2000 homes, for example are exceptionally air tight...and because of that they need to take air out of the house and trade it for fresh air from outside. To deal with heating or air-conditioning seasons a fresh air exchange unit will let the incoming and outgoing air pass each other closely to "exchange their heat" as well. That unit...looks like it only exchanges heat not air.
@@BreakingBarriers2DIY I'm assuming the whole purpose of the heat exchanger is to exhange air (house air out, fresh air in) while conserving heat (using warmer outgoing air to heat colder incoming air) to keep heating costs lower. There would be no purpose to a heat exchanger if it did not bring in fresh outside air. Heat exchanger not necessary in (air) leaky house; would only make sense to use in those airtight R2000 homes you mention.
@@samjubilee6593 I see what you are saying...but if you look at the unit installed...it is a heat pump. What comes through the wall of the container...is the refrigerant lines. An air exchanger does "exchange some heat" but it's purpose it to bring in fresh air. A heat pump's purpose is to bring heat into the house. Have a look at the lines to the outdoor unit...those "pre-filled" refrigerant lines. It does seem like something that gets overlooked because it is a common confusion between heat pumps and air exchangers. In any case...hopefully the unit door is opened and closed so often that the build up of CO2 or humidity isn't really a concern.
@@BreakingBarriers2DIY The heat exchanger is separate from the heat pump. Just a small unit with a blower to bring fresh air in & stale air out. The warmer indoor air blowing out conducts heat onto the adjoining air incoming ducts, using its "exhale" heat to warm the incoming cooler air, thus conserving heat.
Courtney spending say 30 minutes to cover the floor and all windows before spraying saved you so much time when it came to cleaning up. Loved the use of you meat knife to trim the foam. Riley sure is Mr Cool love to you and of course Oliver ❤️💙💙xxx
I had a MrCool heater/AC in a house in Japan - so much better than duct heating cuz each zone/room was independent. Courtney - I love to watch you get into your Zen mode when you paint, stain, or apply spray foam… you’re in your element! Your mom’s house is going to be incredible! 🌟
I really commend you for trying something new and different. My wife and I built and lived in a concrete dome home off grid for 15 years. We used 6 inches of spray foam and it sealed up the house like a drum. Condensation was the only drawback. We had to keep a skylight and a window cracked open 24/7 to keep the moisture under control. Best wishes on your project. I also installed a minisplit ac on the wall of our current house-it does vibrate a bit when it first turns on. I should have mounted it to the ground.

The warmer indoor air blowing out conducts heat onto the adjoining air incoming ducts, using its "exhale" heat to warm the incoming cooler air, thus conserving heat.
Ceiling is beautiful and Riley I’m just glad you know there is a right direction to use a crescent wrench!
Great job guys. Especially since this is the first time you've ever done this.
Happy Birthday Courtney! Great progress on the tiny home. That DIY MrCool is a game changer.
that mr cool mini slpit system is actually super cool didnt know they made ones like that ive just always been used to Mitsubishi ones
Happy Mother’s Day!!!
GREAT EFFORT, TEAM Mr & Mrs Cool !
as a builder before i retired i used a all girl insulation team and they would insulate every nook and cranny they were the best!!!
Thanks Courtney, Riley and Oliver for sharing this very instructional video. Glad to see you continue to be an extraordianary Team.
Courtney spending say 30 minutes to cover the floor and all windows before spraying saved you so much time when it came to cleaning up. Loved the use of you meat knife to trim the foam. Riley sure is Mr Cool love to you and of course Oliver ❤️💙💙xxx
That’s what the pros used on my place except with what looked like a 2ft blade! 😮
Happy birthday and mother's day Courtney!🎉🎉🎉
This was such an awesome video.
Great Job!! Love the way you show how easy it is (Not) to do, when the DIY shows make it look like anyone can do it. Thanks!! Love the Mr. Cool!!
On the table saw add a plumbing fitting pointing it down... or usually shop vac hose fittings work too.
I had a MrCool heater/AC in a house in Japan - so much better than duct heating cuz each zone/room was independent. Courtney - I love to watch you get into your Zen mode when you paint, stain, or apply spray foam… you’re in your element! Your mom’s house is going to be incredible! 🌟
I love the way your boy said "hey". He is going to have a love voice.
Courtney and Mom HAPPY Mothers day to you both ❤️ ❤❤
That’s very Mr. and Mrs. Cool!!!
Thanks for the lesson!
