  • After riding both bikes I'd say I'd choose the s5 for 70% of the riding I do. I appreciate the playful nature of the s4 in some situations but overall I trend towards wanting more confidence, and feel at speed. I can still throw the s5 around pretty well and I feel much more connected with the bike. Reach isn't the most important thing when it comes to sizing, I've ridden plenty of 475mm reach bikes including the druid that fit me well, they just have longer chain stays and a longer wheel base. In addition to a longer wheel base which makes the bike feel bigger, I feel like with a longer chain stay, you ride the bike more off the back which opens up the cockpit more. A shorter chain stay bike you have to ride over the front more which makes the cockpit feel more cramped even at the same reach number. This is the case on the druid s3 vs the stumpy s4 and I will dive into this deeper in my druid vs stumpy video. I will also report back when I test the longer chain stay on the s4 and see how that effects the ride.
