Maangchi, Didn't you used to put sugar in this recipe for jangjorim? Did you leave it out because it doesn't make much of a difference?
Probably healthier anyway without the sugar, but I was just curious.

Yes, you can add some sugar, but this recipe remains delicious even without it.
What I love about Maangchi is that after all these years, the success she's had, and everything that RUclips has become, she's still just doing her thing. No pretense, no fancy editing or camera work, and you can tell she probably hasn't updated her AV equipment much (which is SO Korean 😆). Her effortless natural charm and authentic recipes are all she needs. Don't ever change, 아줌마! ❤️

I love the context Maangchi gives to the history & value of each dish. She makes beef in the olden days of Korea sound just as valuable & precious as the kind of Wagyu that comes with a certificate when you purchase. I recently went on the carnivore diet after a long time researching, and have learned the true value of beef. The way Korean cuisine treats every cut of beef, even the ones we wouldn't recognize here in the US, profoundly makes me appreciate this time period in which we live where we can have it just about any time we want

Maangchi, years ago my Mom would marinate flank🥩steak overnight with vinegar & fresh🧄garlic! She would then cook it the next day with🧅onions &🍄mushrooms; it was delicious!

I don’t know the names of meat cuts in English but I recognize it, I use it to make “asado mazatleco” one of my favorite Mexican dishes, my mom uses other fancier meat but I prefer more potatoes than meat so I don’t care, I recommend you look into it c:
