You guys need to look in to doing a canal holiday on a proper narrowboat. You can rent them for a few days, live on them, and travel up and down the county on the extensive canal network. There are some truly amazing feats on engineering still at work today. Also, it'd be amazing to see Al and Norton try to figure out how a lock works.
Great video guys!! We love seeing what you get up to on your adventures. Al, the White Water Tourer kayak you have is designed to turn on a pinhead! it takes a bit more control to paddle on flat/ slow moving waters like this but it looks like you were getting the hang of it! the Deluxe Sit in Kayak Jonny in in is perfect for this kind of paddle though. P.S. his name is Dan 🤣I'' put the idea of the Canal Shark to him 👍
They should re-name the kayak Norton was in and call it the Riber Johnny as it's easy to slip in to and good at getting in and out of wet tunnels without breaking.
I'm not sure but if Al would shift his weight around inside the kayak and roll along seeing if that would change up the way he was drifting when he would stop paddling if that didn't work shift in a different way until he finds where he is not drifting and going straight instead. I am only suggesting that because it worked for me when I try out kayaking. Or if the kayak has a skeg or supposed to have one maybe it could be missing or damaged I'm not sure but I think the cheaper ones do not have a skeg.
Hi guys! Experienced Kayaker here. I think the issue with Al's boat is that his weight isn't distributed evenly causing one side to dip more than the other which will make you turn as the water resistance is unequal on both sides!
Victorian engineering is insane! That bridge has probably stood for over 200 years, carries several hundred tonnes of water and has had 1000's of boats bumping it over the years. Yet it stands completely strong with no leaks.
I think you should have done a bundgy jump in the middle of that lol 🙈🙈🙈 another great upload. What about white water rafting in Wales that's super fun!!!! Thanks guys happy Christmas too 💗
Great video guys! Poor Al and the wonky kayak. Great shot of that dead "something" floating. Thank you to Riber for letting you use their kayaks ! That was jolly decent of them for sure...
Its crazy to see that your in my home town and yet I use to walk that aqueduct all the time and I still shit myself going across it!!! Weird fact........ there use to be a donkey right next to the Telford pub where you guys finished at.......... Toby the donkey he was.
They had whitewater kayaks, no skeg or rudder with those! I have a river kayak with a skeg, tracks smoothly and it's much longer than theirs and fat more stable. 😊
@@Thisthat654 als is but the ryber deluxe is an all rounder I’ve got the exact same model and it tracks straight as a die,I used to have a pyrhana kayak that had a removable skeg and without it it used to spin just like als
Also kayak has like corners on the bottom called rails, they help with turning in Wite water, hard to get the hang of at first but if you know how to use them no hassle. A kayak will turn the opposite way to the way you lean, it's called edging. If you have rails it's very sensitive to edging, basically he dosent know what he's at, sorry Al, not slagging you off, everyone that gets in a river boat first time is like that.
I only found out about this place recently and I am planning a trip there with kayaks. It looks well worth it from your adventure. Also pretty sure that is an aqueduct not a viaduct. Keep up the great content lads
God I’d be down for that! Love this stuff. Tiny canal looks like the aqueduct nest our place in the valley aus ! My gramps had a boat on the canal over there called “the king fisher”
That looked great, I wish we had canals, we’ve got plenty of rivers but they’re full of either sharks or massive crocodiles which to me is off putting for kayaking

Go to the Strid in Yorkshire it's the most dangerous river in the world, every person that's been in has died. It's very deceiving it just looks like a calm stream from the top.
We got sent on a school trip to that aqueduct and canal, with no regard to health & safety, 31 kids let loose, going mental 😂 weird thing is, I don't remember it being that high or so scary!!
Well done Men. Lovin' it. Keep bringing in those sponsors. Excellent drone work Lloydy. You know you're keeping it right if your heads above water 😂 Peace... 😎💚🔱
NEWS FLASH! I LOOKED FOR YOU GUYS ON FACEBOOK. NOTHING. Dunalastair castle in Scotland is abandoned on the side of a cliff. Now maybe you can't go there but if you can I would love to see you explore it and do a video! You might have to repel down a cliff could be your most dangerous adventure yet! Love your channel 😬
You can rent one of the estate properties (Old School, post office, laundry...) or maye camp around the shore of Loch Rannoch. The house has been rebuilt at some point but is now a ruin again. Not that big to be fair but has a certain charm including the exposed laths (the roof has caved in and rain washed off the plaster). The nearby dam is exciting and the aqueduct is impressive engineering but you won't see too much as it's covered and full of water.
Bloody hell guys, you've done it again with another cracking yet totally unexpected video!! Really loved this and especially Nortons happy laugh at the insane drop over the side 😮 Absolutely Fantastic, cheers for the fabulous entertainment 😊❤
The Strid in Yorkshire is notorious as a stretch of water. It doesn't look that scary but it's lethal. I don't know if you could do anything on a video but have a google it's highly dangerous.
just 4 miles away from my home town Llangollen, this was a part my cycle warm up 8 miles up one side valley over the bridge back down the other side valley. cycled 30 miles min a day it was aqueduct direction or the horseshoe falls. it was sure interesting during a storm cycling over the aqueduct. but crazy thing is many many years later only recent times i tried to walk across it i only got half way, must be 10 years living in the midlands and age as heights were never an issue. but it could be someone jumped of it the week before who knows. ive lost count how many times ive cycled across it but now struggle to walk across it i find that mad even during a wind storm it never bothered me, but at the time i was mad like going down a mountain on single track lane as fast bike shift easy reaching 40 and many times tad over 50mph i had no protection so fear really was not a thing back then it sure is now tho its 20 plus years later

I wonder if those canoes are made from recycled bottle tops and milk cartons?🤔, this canal reminds me of a giant version of the log flume at Alton tower's!🤣😂👍
Loved this video. I’ve been across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct so many times. It’s 136 ft of sheer beauty. The boater in front was going slowly on purpose to annoy you. A lot of boaters hate kayakers and canoeists, they see them the cyclists of the canal world 😂😂
Doesn't look too bad from a kayak as you are low down. I can guess that it would be worse walking over it with those open railings on one side and nothing on the other apart from water and a drop.
I was looking for the new video yesterday! ( I lost track of days! I know you post on Tuesday!) I wonder how much behind the scenes safety precautions you take? If any! After Bear Giles and Surviver Man whi knows!

Al was in a play boat made for surfing and white water wave play.
Soon as the paddle passes his hip it becomes a rudder..
Shorter strokes Al.

Could try the Severn Bore, a 12m wave up the river to surf ...
Any stretch of canal with Al on it is the most dangerousist 😅
I've done the same journey on a narrow boat but the way you did it is awesome! Rock on!!!
I used to live next to this and walked over in all sorts weather. So sad I missed you , glad you had a great time
