One of our main problems is that if you do a little research, you will find that 75% of the land in Shreveport ( rather it's commercial or residential) is owned by people who either stay out of the state or companies who only care about getting the next check. As long as they put money in the pockets of the Parish board and the city council, they don't have to worry about doing any general maintenance on their properties

Get rid of the old Democrats and fire the right people. Shit ain't never going to change if we keep getting Democrats in office. The party of the KKK don't care about you or me. I've lived in Shreveport for 50 years.

Tons of people that own land here are from here but live in California or Chicago or some place off. We had a dear lease once and the lady that owned it came in and basically called the law and had us kicked out. We were keeping up the land and making sure the road in and out was right. She left back to California and she hasn't been back to it since 07. When she did this they had just put a new oil well in and we built the fence around it.

The bigger problem is that technology has eroded industrial-based jobs in S'port as it has all over the nation and the world. If folks are not technology-trained they are left behind in obsolete skills. It's a whole new world from even 30 years ago.

    • @CatherineLeighe

This is like Vegas in many ways. So many hotel rooms with three new huge being built & we have no water. It is insane the way city council approves anything that brings dollar signs to their eyes.
The landscape in Shreveport is gorgeous. There is a military base with hospital, so lots of retired military here.
