We have 3 right now and have owned them for over 20 years. They are part of a tricks team that visits nursing homes, assisted living and supports dog rescue events. You can 't have just one.
These dogs are amazing. I would like to get a Havanese in the very near future. It is obvious you have put in a lot of hard work and have done such a great job with them. I love that you bring them to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The residents there benefit so much from pet therapy (just seeing and petting the dogs), however, getting to watch a show of their skills and tricks must surely be a delight for them. Thank you for doing this 🙏🏻😊🐶
@@karennardi2578 Thank you very much Karen. And another perk is our fee is donated to the Together Journey a non profit charity to train service dogs for veterans.
Thanks for the recommendation. We do not do obedience. Dabbled in Rally years ago. Our dogs are heavily involved in Do More With Your Dog and are active agility dogs.
Amazing! I would ove to know what treats you feed? Do you use treats as part of the caloric intake for the day and what percentage. I find it easy to overfeed but under/over nourish if treats are used for training. For example mine loves beef liver treats (pure beef liver) but giving that can result in too much vitamin A. Would love some advice as to treats in training- We too want to train our sweet boy to go to nursing homes and entertain and bit and just cuddle with folks.
We use high quality dog food / toppers (Ziwi Peak Air Dried Topper/Food and Instinct Raw Boost Mixers). I do use some dried organ meats which I may mix in. We weigh the dogs weekly and track on calendar as training, classes etc. vary. This way we catch the weight gain early on when easy to get that extra 1/4 lb. off. When we do trick shows, I cook fresh meat as we need a very high priority treat when working in lots of distractions. They only get these treats when in these environments which makes these visits even more special. Just keep it fun. Good luck!
We have been training dogs for about 15 years now. We utilize clicker / shaping to teach tricks. Starting with foundation skills like teaching left and right paw, nose touch, chin touch and a good fetch and retrieve needs to be strong before attempting many of the more complex tricks.
Havaneses are one of the most beautiful and adorable dogs on Earth.
You are absolutely 100 percent correct
Duh
Totally agree. Our Havanese is the sweetest, most loving, cutest, more adorable, loyal dog ever. I love these dogs.
Beautiful animals!

Awww. So well trained. And he obviously adores his trainer ❤️
You are such a good owner and train him so well. I also have Havanese dogs and am so thankful to live with them.
